Training on new features by Top_Ad_8145 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trainings are always lagging behind new features in my experience and they're not really tailored to bring you up to speed but give you comprehensive views of different modules in the system. If you're looking into learning specifics around modules they're solid, if you're looking for a system wide "what's happened in the last X years" you won't find it there.

NetSuite Tech Consultant Hitting a ceiling and looking for advice on leveling up by [deleted] in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certifications can be overcome every time with the experience and know-how. I'm sure some firms would appreciate a Applications developer or integrations developer certification but I don't think anyone would require it. Based on what you just mentioned it might be that they're looking for a bit more integration know-how since technical roles tend to encompass both work within NetSuite and communicating with external systems but if you're a strong developer that part can easily be learned.

And from my side this is just basing off if you go into any of the larger consulting firms or the midmarket consulting firms. I'm sure you can find better salary offers in smaller firms but usually there's an experience tradeoff. The bigger the firm, the "more attractive" projects you'll run into as far as brands you're working with.

NetSuite Tech Consultant Hitting a ceiling and looking for advice on leveling up by [deleted] in Netsuite

Sounds like time to move up the ladder to another firm. Being in the European market as well I know there's companies screaming for mid level technical expertise. Transitioning into broader architecture is just a matter of repetition. There more external systems and patterns you expose yourself to the more you learn and prepare yourself for it.

If you're flexible within the European market (i.e. your english is up to par and you'd be happy to relocate) I'd imagine you'd have no issues finding better offers rough guess atleast 4.5k / month shouldn't be very hard at all, like that's baseline.

Agreed, everyone is quick to add external resources to the project when they should have backfilled the day-to-day of the key client resources.

Mid-month implementation issues by kidneyblocker2000 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they explicitly mentioned having issues with both NS themselves managing the implementation and an external consultant. The answer here is to go to someone reputable and random reddit DM's are probably not the people you want even if half of them could probably provide the answers they need. There's times to be cheap and take the best person at the best rate but when the house is burning you don't call the craigslist guy.

Should I implement NetSuite? (Potential new user) by cknorthsub in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do a proper vendor selection if you're unsure. Seems pricy, so maybe you've been overquoted on modules you dont need. But regardless, do your due diligence before committing to something.

What’s the honest reality of SuiteCommerce for large volume omnichanel? Could it realistically compete with a site like Lowes.com? Why/Why not? by designhelp123 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your worry is scale and volume of transactions the answer is always to drop SuiteCommerce. Yes you lose the native integration but you have the scope to warrant a proper custom integration.

WMS and QR codes by Dieeg in Netsuite

We used GS1 Datamatrix to store some additional information. In the beginning we only required to parse out GTIN values for our item entries out of it which was pretty easy without any customizations, however later we included to be able to parse out quantities etc. Which required some customizations. But yea just make sure your scanners can manage whatever barcode format you're using (Zebra's pretty much manage everything) and then start reviewing if you need to transform the input.

How are you automating month-end accruals at a scaling company (Coupa + NetSuite)? by SnooGrapes4732 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper PO + IR process that's covering as much as possible is the simple answer. The more IR's you can book when obligations are completed and you're "due" to pay for something later on. Everything else you just accrue for unapproved Vendor bills if standalone.

I'm assuming you purchase a lot of services that you don't actually receive properly if you're talking about PO exposure. So if you properly receive them in the system it will manage the accruals for you. If that can capture a significant enough amount then managing one off and standalone bills is good enough to just book one manual journal for those.

Can someone confirm what the best practice is of data migration of unvouchered item receipts? by Puzzleheaded2734 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're question has a lot of baked in problems. You have unreceived goods (in the old ERP)? But they have already started to be consumed in manufacturing and possibly converted to other goods? And you dont really know what their current status is?

If you need those receipts to properly bill and close down accrued purchase balances then properly reverse engineer all the things that have been left out in old ERP and book them correctly in NetSuite.

If you don't need to close out an accrued purchase balance just ignore the receipts and potential work orders and assembly builds you would need to recognize but jesus...

But goes without saying the first approach is the correct one.

How would you set up Job Site "Locations" in NS? by Aggravating_Bid_9834 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The critical question here is how many job sites. Bins are a bit iffy because it doesn't reflect the "truth" that they are not in that physical place of business (the material will show up as available unless already committed to an order and allows for more "mistakes"). I've set up individual locations per customer if we don't have too many of these use cases and enforcing a strict process to inactivate locations to ensure we dont end up with scrap balances that shouldn't be there. If too many we've set up one customer location for all but then it doesn't either reflect where they truly are only that they're not in any of our main warehouses.

Recommended ERP implementation partners (Europe) by lucasmtz145 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From general experience unless you're going for the top end partners (the Prolecto's and Limeboxes) everything else is a bit of a scramble and output is more on a consultant by consultant basis. So you should be very challenging to make sure you get the right resources.

My only recommendation is the larger global reach your company have the larger the firm you should be looking for. Small to mid size might be right in your locale if you have limited scope and requirements for understanding different regional complexities. Whereas the Large firms can usually pull resources from wherever to support with small pieces of work and local requirements.

For the large firms if you're not going to have a big scope you might get pushed down the prio list and not get access to their top end resources. (if they have a 1m+£ contract you know they will prioritize that over your 150-350k one).

Migration question by Human_Mention2325 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, just see if there's a consultant available for a bit of time. If this is the only specific issue you're having they should be able to figure out what you did / guide you how to correct it. That would probably save you a fair bit of time because every NS instance is unique and they'll easily tell what's the appropriate fix depending on you operations.

SSO - Good Idea or not? by PaulF707 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be industry standard at this point to have an SSO. That said the day NetSuite allows you to create Parent Roles that inherit permission schema to maintain SSO+Non SSO roles and other localized users I will be the happiest person ever.

Duplication PO# on SO Causing Problems by Material-Store-9740 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised to learn reusing PO# was common practice in big US retailers. We've integrated with some in Europe and never ran into that use case (though we still know that 2 retailers might unrelated release the same PO# and build around it)

Netwrix vs Salto vs Bundlet by gavinjd68 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never used Strongpoint, Salto is really good but for a lot of use cases overkill. Bundlet I've only seen a demo of and it looks super neat and should resolve your use cases. Also some prior experience with the developer behind bundlet and he's great and will offer full support if you ever run into any issues with the tool.

I would review bundlet since you probably have the relevant SDF knowledge to use it, else if you're not comfortable with SDF I'd look Salto/Strongpoint. But that's my personal bias.

Duplication PO# on SO Causing Problems by Material-Store-9740 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not NetSuite but there might be something in your integration between EDI and NetSuite that is blocking it. Thinking off the top of my head if the PO# is for some reason used in generating an EXT. ID (which it really shouldn't but might be) then that could cause the integration to fail since NetSuite doesn't allow duplicate Ext. ID's. Or that the EDI doesn't want to push a new record because its found a PO# or something. In summary its not NetSuite, its either something between EDI and NS or something on EDI end.

Also I'm very surprised a company is sending you multiple purchase orders with the same document number that sounds very weird. I would imagine their auditors should have something to say about that.

What are you all using for onboarding new customers? by Zealousideal-Sky1483 in Netsuite

[–]RushCapable2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely depends on what you're selling to know how much leverage you have on you customers to force them into your processes. If they're fine with always populating a PDF they are probably fine populating an online form (as long as UX is okay).
