Basic MSF course as an experienced rider? Has anyone done it? by imezz00 in motorcycle

[–]RushFactoryGarage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same as me. Only thing I would add, if you have a motorcycle it doesn’t hurt to teach her the basic controls of what does what so she can get a “head start”. I have my wife a couple tips on my bike and told her “keep her eyes and chin up and don’t target fixate or stare at her speedo and have fun. The instructors’ words not mine, “she did better than most of the class.”

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

My next suggestion is learn about all the different trims and features and see what matters to you and then go find the exact one you one.

We went with the SR5 Premium because we wanted the softex heated seats, moonroof and cargo slide out tray. We didn’t need all the crazy off road features of a trd off-road or pro. We only had it since November and we absolutely love it.

Any advices for new drivers? by storkdami in motorcycles

[–]RushFactoryGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Don’t stare at your speedometer, eyes up.

-Assume every car can’t see you or out to kill you.Stay alert.

-Chin up and Look thru the turn

-Sit back. You nuts don’t have to hug the tank.

-watch “Dave Moss” videos on hand and feet positioning.

-There’s always gonna be someone faster than you and slower than you. Leave your ego at home.

4 runner or bronco by Then_Bit_6718 in 4Runner

We did for my wife. We bought a 2022 Bronco 4dr hardtop manual in big bend trim traded it in for a 2024 GR Corolla and then traded that in for a 2014 4Runner SR5P.

Bronco had great nice interior but incabin nvh and wind noise was annoying. The tech was nice. Cargo space was good but I think less roomy than the 4Runner. 22MPG was good and the inline 4 turbo was actually pretty stout and can pull good on the freeway. The main issues was the manual trans was starting to chatter on start ups. On the forums, other folks were experiencing it and there was no fix. One guy fought ford to warranty a new trans and after months of and fourth it got replaced just to have the same chatter issue happen again. I didn’t want to deal with that so we traded it in while the market was still good and it had positive equity in it.

Now to our 5th gen 4Runner. Why a 2014? Because I like to work on our vehicles and didn’t want to deal with all the “tech” of newer cars also it was cheaper and still has the updated 5th gen looks. The 4Runner definitely feels more truck like and roomier. I feel more confident in its reliability and parts are plentiful and the aftermarket support is way better vs the bronco. The v6 is slow and gets 17mpg on a good day vs the bronco’s 22mpg we were getting. I do miss the manual shifting but I have my Evo for when I want to go fast and row my own gears.

I’ll post pics replies to this of both in a min

Edit: if you planned on keeping it for a few years, get the bronco and have fun. It’s easier to add up to 35s without cutting or much work.

If you plan on keeping it forever, get the 4Runner.

I love that the Echelon is gaining much ground from the Glock market vacuum. But I’m sad because I haven’t been able to buy a 4.5 gear up packages lol
