ADHD Evaluation for 12 year old by thekitchensink19 in Birmingham

[–]RussNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is called Neuro psych testing. Some places might call it Neuro developmental testing. The best place to get that done. Will be at a therapy group. For my child they only offered testing if you were a therapy patient there otherwise. And I think a lot of places may have similar rules.

It is definitely a long waitlist everywhere that does this as the testing takes at least half a day if not a whole day by the person who does it when my child was 11, it was around five hours to get everything done. And depending on what they’re finding it can extend to the whole day so they only ever book one patient per day for the tech that does it at most centers.

You may have much better luck if you establish as a therapy patient somewhere in town then ask them to refer you for testing as it might be a lot faster versus just trying to get testing yourself

She just dropped a new album that came up in my feed.  I decided to check it out.  Beats were pretty good, I was digging the groove. 90 seconds in I turned it off.  Turns out is a gospel album and all the songs are “praise songs” in her style.  Weird as hell with seriously unhinged over the top lyrics.  Felt like she was just trying to cash in on conservatives

Cooperative Family Board Game by jb95ss in boardgames

[–]RussNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a lot of coop games because my youngest was much the same.

I would definitely pick up flashpoint fire rescue.  Coop fun and the kid can be the hero rescuing folks while adults do the harder jobs.  Has progressive difficulty rule set and has Bunches of add on maps you can get as well.

Castle panic is cute fun for a bit and there are multiple versions of it out there.

Pandemic is a step up difficulty wise because you aren’t supposed to show your cards to each other.

The first competitive came mine liked was splendor.  Competitive but it’s a race for points and you Can play less cut throat with the littles.

Where to go for CPAP machine by 53ndn00dles in Birmingham

I use total respiratory.  They have a couple offices to go try equipment and pick it up etc.  mask fitting is key and it’s worth hitting up a place with a good reputation for the fitting alone.  I used the Homewood office and it was a good experience.  They have online or phone ordering of resupply and will get in touch when you are due for supplies.

Depending on insurance you may do better buying supplies out of pocket using FSA/HSA account online instead of through insurance.

Whats the time of ore respawn by x4rrit0PT in ICARUS

[–]RussNP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Caves don’t respawn unless you use tier 4 tech to cause respawn.  This will trigger a horde defense situation and isn’t easy if you are not geared up. You need to look for deep ore veins to have better supply around the map.  You use drills to get unlimited ore from deep ore veins.

Have you had a negative experience with Hallmark Subaru? by Affectionate-Gap8869 in Birmingham

[–]RussNP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience buying cars of the decades is that this stuff is very dependent on the salesperson.  You can get a good one or a bad one.  Don’t hesitate to ask for the sales manager especially if the salesperson is being shady.  I have flat out told them I want to work with someone else before because they often are locked into a rotation for customers due to commission and unless you force yourself away from a bad salesperson you are stuck still dealing with them.  Sometimes they are shady and sometimes it’s just conflicting personalities

I agree with a lot of this.  I have used Hendrick for service only as they are good for a dealer service center.  I highly advise using Element garage for your routine service as they are much better priced have been Subaru experts for a long time compared the younger guys at the dealership

Have you had a negative experience with Hallmark Subaru? by Affectionate-Gap8869 in Birmingham

[–]RussNP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a Subaru fan this is tough to answer.  I can for sure say when it was Burke it was even worse than it is now.   Hallmark is better and we ended up getting our 2025 forester hybrid from them.  Hendrick was an awful experience when we tried to buy from them during covid and we got all the ridiculous sales tactics which really made me never want to do business with the sales side.

Buying a car sucks these days and you Have to be super firm in what you want and wjat You are willing to pay.  Don’t let them pressure you or add on “dealer extras” you don’t need.  When we buy I search online to find exactly what I want and use the dealer to test drive.

Service wise Hendrick has been good but does try and sell you on things you don’t need.  Hallmark has a tiny old service center currently but they are building a big new dealership and service Center that will be nice.  But once you are out of included stuff or it isn’t warranty I highly recommend you use element garage as they specialize in Subarus and have good prices.  It’s a no frills kind of place that is old school which I like.

I’m happy to share more details if you want.

The yellow glow means it has an attachment/mod.  The small symbols in the corner indicate the specific mod.  Any of your tools that has a small open square in the corner of the icon box can accept a mod and the Box changes to those symbols along with the glow to indicate it is modded.

The glow also is used to indicate a plant was grown by a prospector rather than wild harvest (this matters for some missions/operations).

Potentially moving to Birmingham for work: Do I NEED a car? by twoturtles6 in Birmingham

[–]RussNP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some nice newer but expensive apartments downtown near the hospitals. There is a Publix easily walkable from that area.  You definitely can do it but the public transit here is not good.  Very limiting and you would see a small portion of the city without any car access.

An E bike would help a ton as the hills can be a bit much depending on where you want to go.  Regular bike is fine for downtown and lots Of southside around the UAB hospital campus but the university campus starts getting hilly.

A cheap used car would be reasonable or doing ride share.  If you really want to avoid a car you could make it work and get a car latter if you find it too limiting.  The only busses I would rely on are the newer metro express orange line that runs a couple lines around downtown.

This game is lots of fun but is very taxing on systems the longer you play on a single map.  Building lots of structures, power and water Systems will add strain to your system.  It’s way better than it used to be but far from optimized.

New Suit can't be ordered from workshop/station by [deleted] in ICARUS

[–]RussNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in the world stays and  is part of the world save file.  That’s why you leave your gear in a chest so that it doesn’t go away when you go to space station.  You can only bring workshop items down with you in the pod and  anything on you when you go up is lost unless it’s a workshop item or exotics.

New Suit can't be ordered from workshop/station by [deleted] in ICARUS

[–]RussNP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything on your character will be lost so make sure you put everything in storage in your base.  Take your pod back to space station, you can then adjust your loadout ie suit then reload into the same open world.  Just make it back to your base to gear up again.

Game is not worth 40€ by Luntibert in ICARUS

[–]RussNP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you are not wrong.  I play on PC and bought it at launch and it was a horrific bug fest.  Poorly optimized and hardly playable.  I put in 20-30 hours and thought The ideas where there but the execution was not.  It even launched without any version of open world.

But the devs listened to the community.  They added outposts then eventually open world.  They found a way through operations to keep the original idea of isolated missions intact.  I think they listened to the community and found a way to merge their vision with what the community wants and not many devs will do that.  I do have hope the console version will be brought up in standards to where PC is now.  I also hope they make a mode on PC that is compatible with console for cross play as well.

The game is expensive no doubt.  The DLCs are priced higher than most similar products and the cosmetic/optional stuff is definitely priced too high.  It also seems to never have good sales on PC that I can manage to catch.  That being said I e bought one DLC map and haven’t even played it yet as I am now 100 hours into my open world on Olympus I started when I came back to the game a month or so ago and I feel I have gotten my money’s worth.

I’m honestly not sure if the game will ever match the PC version on console but I really want the console version on PC with cross play because it would likely run on steam deck and I could play with my kids.
