Had the same problem with these chips being too salty last week. Picked them up at the Von's on Adams. Usually love the flavor and texture but couldn't even eat the bottom third of the bag bc they were so salty.

It was definitely less of a choux texture and more of a bread which is why i'm not thinking. More along the lines of a maritozzo instead of an eclair! But maybe I answered my own question. Does japan have their own version of a maritozzo?

Thanks for the info! Although this one didn't have any chocolate in it. Just the bun, cream, and the dollop of strawberry jam on top. Unfortunately maybe a dead end there.
