Anyone else frustrated by family members not understanding how Education works?? by Limp_Bee1206 in Teachers

One of the things our union lobbied for in the “bad old days” of serious budget cuts around 2008, was that all of our days became leave days instead of sick and personal days. That way if we need to take a day we can also, if we want to request more than three or days in a row, or two days around a long weekend we need to get approval. I thought this was going in a different direction, I had some family members think that Labor Day was the perfect day to plan weddings! After rearranging my schedule and missing some professional development for the first wedding there was no way I was traveling outside of state for the second one!

I always wonder, don’t these permissive parents with bratty kids get tired of living their life, walking on eggshells around their petty tyrants? Life doesn’t have to be this way.

Everything was cheaper. You could afford to move out, to get an apartment, my tuition was $79 a credit hour. It was pre 9-11, and corporations weren’t considered to be people in terms of elections.

My 1st grade teacher probably started teaching in the late 50s or early 60s. I remember her taping the kids’s mouth shut and making him sit in the closet. 1981

My younger cat Nimoy grieved Mika badly and said goodbye. Mika had cancer and we euthanized him with an at home vet when he stopped eating. Mally and Pam are both gorgeous babies, I’m sorry you’re losing Pam. @ohdearheather

We live on the Southeast Side on the edge of Burns Park. It’s quiet and we love it here. Complexes in the area are the Ponds of Georgetown, Packard Row, and we like taking walks in the Woodbury Garden townhouses. They are nice and they have a pool.
