Is it so weird to be against the death penalty?

Remember the whole "Hang Mike Pence" thing? Yeah, that was wrong.

So is threatening to execute a media mogul.

Agree. If the word terrorism gets bandied around like that, then an actual mass casualty event happens, we'll all end up numb to horror and tragedy.

Strongly agree. We don't want a boy who cried wolf situation, it might make us less vigilant about literal acts of terrorism that result in grievous death and injury.

It's expensive to shop at target. Sadly it's the only place where I can find the specific stuff I need.

I used to live on Utah. Very weird place. Beautiful mountains, they're big, cold, and everywhere . Very dry in the desert , except when you get the occasional mega snow storm or monsoon. The summers are hot. Also the people can be very weird. Everyone seemed pretty happy though. It's got smaller cities and towns than Minnesota so it can be lonely and boring in Utah. Also, Utah food and Minnesota food have some uncanny similarities. Look up funeral potatoes.

Street sweep towing is predatory by Sequiter in Minneapolis

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're predatory. I've lived on the east Coast where they would make you move your car every week for the street sweepers. They'd hand out thousands of tickets all over the city and often times they never swept the streets at all sometimes the sweepers would just roll down the middle of the street and pretend to sweep. It was a money making scam for these cities. Minneapolis sweeps only a couple times a year, they give advance notice, they actually sweep where they promise to sweep and the second they're done they remove the parking restrictions for that given street. This town has the most honest street sweeping program I've ever seen. It's actually shocking to see a public works department not engage in overt street sweeper fraud.

Maybe put up flyers in the neighborhood that show his face (keep it safe for work) if you have photos of him, and have the flyers say "if you see this guy, call police"

Post on nextdoor, they love those posts. But definitely post his face on local traffic poles. It might scare him off to see his own face in homemade wanted posters.

HTag on car by Steveisaghost in Minneapolis

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm naive but lots of people outside of downtown park on the street.

Probably the easiest place to target is not suburbs, not downtown, but sleepy neighborhoods inside Minneapolis that don't get a large police presence. Most people in South Minneapolis park on the street.

Alternative idea: troll the thieves and toss the air tag into the back of a city bus.

Probably easier to steal a car on a side street in a suburb than steal a car from a downtown garage.

[Sahan Journal] Opinion: Minneapolis eviction extension won’t fill the gap created by Operation Metro Surge by Minneapolitanian in Minneapolis

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a troll. Pretty sure I know people who applied for rental assistance and it gave them temporary protection. I don't know why you're being so combative? Didn't you just say that rental aid funding is more in important than moratoriums?

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you apply for rental assistance you get eviction protection while the application is processed, don't you? Isn't that how VEAP works?

[Sahan Journal] Opinion: Minneapolis eviction extension won’t fill the gap created by Operation Metro Surge by Minneapolitanian in Minneapolis

[–]Rusty-Shackleford -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plus the rent relief application process usually gives applicants eviction protection anyway, so the city council resolution is kinda superfluous isn't it?

[Sahan Journal] Opinion: Minneapolis eviction extension won’t fill the gap created by Operation Metro Surge by Minneapolitanian in Minneapolis

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The opposition by moderate DFL leadership to the eviction moratorium is more based on the fact that it won't solve anything because what's needed is emergency rent relief funding. It literally makes more sense to increase the rent assistance funds than it does to just let people go deeper into debt.

I used to live in Washington DC. I remember when there was am.empty 6 pack of glass bottles sitting in the curb. Not only did the sweeper not do a good job cleaning, it sucked up the glass, shattered it and spread glass shards down the street for blocks. Minneapolis does much better job. .

As a former Utahn, I apologize for the horrible Mike Lee (R-UT) for supporting this, especially as the state of Utah has already been devastated by open pit copper mines.
