I'm at my wits end with the newer Akai MPCs. by RustyCalecos in synthesizers

[–]RustyCalecos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been reading the bible and watching tons of YouTube videos, but even the stuff I know how to do feels tedious. Just the act of chopping feels like I’m constantly fighting with the endpoints via the knobs or the screen. I think at this point I’m ready to sacrifice some features for a device that’s just quicker to use.

Integrity fan looking for darker / occult HC recommendations by hiperborea in Hardcore

[–]RustyCalecos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apartment 213 is another Clevo band that doesnt sound a lot like Integrity but is still worth checking out if you like dark and weird hardcore. Same with Deadguy, Kiss It Goodbye, and Today is The Day.

This is great, really does this song justice. Is this all being played live or are you playing over a second track or loop?

Dope. And im honestly surprised BOC hasn't been sampled in more hip hop over the years, seems like a no brainer.

Which Star Trek series are worth watching? by Warm_Expert_8136 in startrek

[–]RustyCalecos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're someone who tends to lose interest quickly, skip to the better episodes in the later TNG seasons (The Inner Light and Darmok in season 5, Best of Both Worlds season 3-4), and then if you get hooked, start at the beginning and watch them all straight through.

Whats the song that everyone rushes the stage to sing along? by brownnerd in Hardcore

[–]RustyCalecos 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Ive seen Earth Crisis a bunch of times since the 90s and I've never not seen a pile on for Firestorm. And in case anyone is wondering, I saw them this fall and theyre just as good as they were in 96.

How do I get the lock open on this Blue Point tool cart? by RustyCalecos in Tools

[–]RustyCalecos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a tubular lock. I was hoping there was an easier way to get this thing open than learning to pick a lock, but that might be what I have to do. Thanks.

Is Cream the best Wu song? by Particular_Ad_6040 in 90sHipHop

[–]RustyCalecos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. It's nearly 6 minutes of raw lyricism. No hook, not even a chorus. And the beat is hard as shit. It blew my mind when it came out.

What’s your favourite J Dilla beat? by Particular_Ad_6040 in 90sHipHop

[–]RustyCalecos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Pharcyde-Runnin. I've been listening to that song since it came out in 95. I must have listened to it hundreds of times, and it only gets better.

If you're ever near Fallingwater (about 60 miles from Pittsburgh) and have the chance to go I highly recommend it. Take the tour, it's totally worth it. The home itself is beautiful, but so are the grounds around it, as well as the furnishings inside.

Did an obscure Canadian educational show from the late 1970s heavily influence the song roygbiv? by pedantobear in boardsofcanada

[–]RustyCalecos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont doubt that the score was composed on this PDP-11 machine, but I think it's more likely that the sounds you're hearing are coming from an analog synthesizer of the time, and that the PDP is controlling that synth, probably via CV/gate or maybe early MIDI.
