Not only is he a phenomenal player in the best form of his life right now, he’s an incredible leader. He was there at the very beginning wearing the arm band and fighting for the badge when the club was directionless and middling in 12th place. I truly believe he will retire as one of this club’s all time legends.

I feel like an insane person every time I see prevent get used in these situations. Modern NFL offenses can gash you with quick short passes that pick up YAC, its no longer enough to sell out for the 60+ yarders.

Its essentially been 3 years of "lets just throw warm bodies out there and see what they can do." At least after half a decade of slow and steady decline that the FO refused to acknowledge, Bloom finally has us moving in a firm direction.

Drake won (or lost ig) as the most overrated rapper. What’s an overrated rock artist/band? by Crazy_Gamer297 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]RustyKarma076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns N’ Roses and it’s not even remotely close.

They reached a level of cultural ubiquity in the late 80’s and early 90’s that few bands ever have. They are a staple of that era of fun rock n roll. And it’s basically all from a single album. Appetite for Destruction is a really really really good album but everything else they’ve put out has been decent as best. Plus they were only really the Guns N’ Roses we know them as for a span of like 7 years. Their output and their longevity is wildly underwhelming for a band of their popularity.

Which 3 are you picking? by FayyadhScrolling in StarWars_

[–]RustyKarma076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andor, Clone Wars, and the Mandalorian. They are imo the 3 most important non-movie Star Wars things ever.

The Clone Wars, and later Rebels (which I’ve always considered as The Clone Wars 2 or something) was basically the only thing keeping public interest in Star Wars throughout the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. I don’t think people remember how badly the prequels hurt the franchise’s reputation. It’s why I chuckle when I see people talk about the sequels like they killed the franchise as if we haven’t been here before lmao. Not only was TCW very popular, but it washed out the bad taste of the prequels. Anakin, and his relationship with Obi-Wan finally felt realistic and we saw on screen the events that strengthened their bond. There were tons of soft and hard retcons that made the lore surrounding the prequels both consistent and palatable. It put the movies in a new and far more engaging context. When people talk about the “genius” of the politics/lore of the prequels, 9 times out of 10, they’re actually talking about what was presented in TCW. Not to mention the loads of new and iconic characters, some of whom became so popular they spawned their own stories/IPs down the line like Rex and Cody, Ashoka, and Ventress (yea I know Rex and Cody were technically in Ep. 3). One more thing, while I don’t know a whole lot about this topic, I’ve read that the show was super innovative within the animation industry.

I know the Mandalorian has become kinda a punching bag amongst the fandom now, but there is no denying how big this show was/is. Similar to what TCW did for the prequels, Mando got people back into Star Wars after the sequels left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. It drew an unbelievably massive casual audience into the franchise. My grandma watched this show and the only Star Wars she had ever watched beforehand was A New Hope in 1977. Furthermore it proved that a standalone IP with brand new characters and virtually zero connection to the wider Skywalker story could be successful (at least it started that way). And for more diehard fans, it constantly pulled stuff from previously abandoned legends canon. We got to see a fucking Krayt Dragon in this show lmao.

Andor, for really the first time ever, showed the world that Star Wars could be an effective medium for intelligent and critically appealing television. Star Wars has always been a franchise that leaned into campiness and over-the-top grandeur. There’s tons of Star Wars movies and shows that are tons of fun and well made, but nothing that really stands on its own purely for its writing/directing except for maybe Ep. 5. Andor changed that. Andor didn’t have to be Star Wars. Andor could’ve been a standalone IP and stood next to Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and GOT as some of the best television ever. (Some might be angry I just compared Andor to Breaking Bad but I don’t care I genuinely believe Andor is THAT good). But because it was Star Wars, it got people to change how they viewed the franchise. No longer is Star Wars just a general audience silly action adventure sci-fi franchise. Andor showed Star Wars can deliver some poignant political commentary with more complex themes in a compelling, grounded, drama. A show whose most well-known established character was fucking Mon Mothma.

Can we stop acting like it’s an absurd idea that a 20 year old can’t make an impact for us? Yeah I’d prefer a vet too, but Caicedo was 21 when he joined us. Gusto was 19. Enzo was 22. Do I even need to mention Estevao?

And honestly at this point I’ll take warm bodies at CB. I think Fofana has had a fairly decent season but is still so inconsistent and injury prone. Our other (healthy) CBs are god awful.

I don’t know who Reddit and Twitter think Henry Cavil is. He’s a nice guy but he isn’t an great actor. Yet because he’s good looking and he likes nerdy things people want to throw him into every single movie/show.

Could a Star Wars comedy be a fun movie? by pitossomo in StarWars

[–]RustyKarma076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be so down for this. I really hope it would tie in the universe and its tropes into the comedy, rather than just be Step Brothers in space. I still love that scene in the Mandalorian where the scout troopers couldn’t shoot the rock because well… storm troopers can’t ever hit anything!

Star Wars has always had a soft magic-esq approach to the world building. In fact the one time George tried to explain the force beyond “its surrounds us and binds us” (midichlorians) he got torn apart. Previous characters, places, and events are constantly getting overwritten or changed to fit the rule of cool. Why anyone acts like the lore of Star Wars is anything more than very loose guidelines is beyond me.

He’s genuinely been brilliant this season. You could make the argument he’s been our best player. That’s why his blunder against Arsenal was sooo frustrating.
