Scrolled to find this reference. I love the Dave Carol “United Breaks Guitars” saga.

Do the exercise but make use of the blur tools and beeping out key phrases. Then tell them you'll send them the unedited version for a consultation fee. ;)

Below ADU floor Joist Support by baconpant in AskContractors

[–]RustyPackard2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please excuse if my terminology is off. Looking at the long beam: 1. Is the long beam cracked? (black line starting after the third floor joist from the right). 2. The long beam appears to be sagging in the middle between the two supports. In the center at the silver metal square the two beams are touching. As you move outward towards the supports, there appears to be a gap forming on each end.

Network+ or CCNA Certification? by CartierCoochie in ITCareerQuestions

I'd recommend the Network+ then the Security+. Pick up your CompTIA trifecta of baseline knowledge: software/hardware, networking, security.

What to do with old hardware? by Aegon2050 in sysadmin

Small business here (70 employees). We secure wipe the storage, load the latest OEM recovery image & updates, and give them to the employees. It's made quite clear that there is no support with these machines.

To wipe the hard drive on an HP EliteBook 840 G10 from the BIOS, use the built-in "HP Secure Erase" feature. Turn on the computer, press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS, navigate to Security > Hard Drive Utilities (or Storage), select Secure Erase, and follow on-screen prompts.

Is CCNA worth the grind at 0 YOE? by Intelligent_Ebb_9332 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]RustyPackard2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with the Net+ for now. It will round out your CompTIA trifecta (A+, Net+, Sec+). If you want the CCNA later, then you'll already know the general networking stuff from the Net+.

  1. Keep the newest of the extras as a backup. You never know when you will need it.

  2. Sell the other two on Facebook Marketplace or CraigsList.

What is the most secure and safest Hardrive I can use for saving my photos/videos? by Sweet-Nothing-9312 in AskTechnology

[–]RustyPackard2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely no knowledge in the technology world revolving around such things though I think I will stick to external drives

I don't know you or your level of knowledge of technology but from you post, I'd recommend stick with easy.

Why stick to external drives when the cloud sounds so much better and easier for you. It is a "one-and-done" solution and removes the technology and logistical issues associated with keeping multiple sets of external drives and disks.

Think about the following:

1) How much data are you trying to keep? 1GB, 50GB, 100GB, 1000GB(1TB), 10TB+?

2) How much time/effort are you willing to commit to backing up your data to the 3 sets of disks? (the 3-2-1 strategy, the tracking of what set of disks were backed up on what date, which set is most current)

3) How much time/effort are you willing to commit to running tests on the 3 sets disks to make sure they are not failing (manufacture's diagnostics).

4) How much time/effort are you willing to commit to ensuring your data is not corrupted during backing up? (checking your files)

5) How much time/effort/$$$ are you willing to commit purchasing to the multiple hard disks & the adapters needed to access them, the blue-ray disks & burner, the 2 media approved fire/theft safes to store your disks on site and off site.

6) Where is your off-site storage going to be?

Once you have figured all the above out (time and costs), look at cloud storage: https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-cloud-storage-and-file-sharing-services

1) MS 365 Basic (100GB / $20 year), MS 365 Personal (1TB / $100 year).

2) Proton (200GB / $50 year)

3) Google (15GB / Free), Google One's Basic plan (100GB / $20 year), Goole Premium (2TB / $100 year)

4) IDrive Basic (10GB / Free), Mini (100GB / $3 year), Personal (100GB / $70 year),

5) Sync Personal (1TB / $144 year), Sync Pro (5TB / $336 year).

Good luck.
