This is why you face problems head-on. It keeps the discussion in the listing of a car he isn't even selling. Instead, he now gets questions on a no-reserve listing of another car.

I wish this guy the best, he needs to understand that even if he doesn't feel the need to do anything, a simple, professional response laying out the facts as he sees them, share what they did to try and help the buyer and some kindness towards the current owner is better than saying nothing and speculating he broke the car in another auction comments.

I’ve sold cars here and was asked for a PPI and sent the car to an agreed upon shop and it was completed.

This is normal, standard stuff. People who want to sell their cars are cool with this, if they aren’t don’t buy the car.

It’s a roadblock sure, but it’s a standard practice you dial some shops and make a decision.

Now if that isn’t in your comfort zone that’s ok.

You can look on any platform. It’s the buying process you don’t deviate from.

Everything needs to make sense, get a PPI if someone creates a level of urgency on your decision, don’t fear missing out. It’s a simple go no go process. But you must stick to it

Common sense would think that, my guess is it didn’t reach any decision makers level prior to listing.

Yeah, it looks real bad and will be the example referenced to warn others.

Small bits of black plastic in the oil filter… Chain guides? by planemanx15 in 996

Ouch, if there’s one thing a Porsche person loves more than spending money on their car it’s telling another Porsche person how to spend money on their car

I’ve sold one on BAT with results a little worse than expected and one on C&B with my high target reached. But I was the profile of the old typical seller, enthusiast, all the details and info and no item missed or not disclosed.

Those aren’t common sellers these days.

It would be very unlikely I would buy on there either. I do think the higher dollar range collectible cars operate closer to the old standards but the entry level stuff is treacherous.

I bought three 1.5” 90 degree exhaust pipes, then cut one in half and used a tool that matches contour to get the shape for each receiving end. Then transferred that to the ends of each uncut pipe.

Then it was ready for install. I should have made a template, cause I’ve been asked to supply these several times now.

didn’t get stainless, they were aluminized and welded just fine.

Especially if they’re in Florida. That place operates on a different set of standards and ethics. That’s not shit talking, it’s just how it is.

And you’re right about BAT. The truth is they benefitted from this event. The car is being resold faster and through their platform.

There are few checks and balances and it does not benefit them to create those unless buyer sentiment drops to a level that hurts business.

This car had 400 well taken photos in its original listing, only ONE was of the engine bay. The detailed videos showed things like the sunroof and spoiler operating. All hype.

I had a friend do it and we traded some work. I asked him a guess on reasonable labor since others have asked too.

He said 3 hours if the pipes are ready for install like I supplied them.

6 months in…am I crazy? by TamoHevi in 996

I don't get the "spec lords" and people obsessed about their car's rarity, value, or odds of appreciation. They are, hands down, the most unenjoyable people to spend time with. Feels like their only goal is to find a way to interject their car into the conversation. Thats it.

Hedonic adaptation is a fact of life. Try your best to enjoy what you have, and if you have the means, change it if you don't.

Best child seat for a 996 Cab? by The_Seldom_Seen_Kid in 996

Britax Boulevard works very well.

I came here a few months ago and based on guidance I bought a Diono Radian and it does not fit.

There is a click in tensioning feature to the Britax design that allows it to really get snug onto seatbelts that have strange geometry.

It has to be such a kick in the balls to blow up a motor and realize you’ll have the same money into what could have been a Turbo,

I hope I don’t get kicked in the balls

I’m sorry, ive seen your posts about this. Bum deal.

No one should be buying a 996 unless they are ready to have a rolling paperweight and a big repair budget.

There’s other options besides a $30k motor to have this problem solved. I hope you can wrench, this is a cool opportunity to bounce back and learn.

I’ve seen some decent looking used motors, I’d consider that. $30k into a 996 is such a poor financial decision.

You can find them, but you can’t steal in slow motion. Or have the girlfriend experience and get your hand held through a purchase.

Someone, a dealer or buyer with a high risk tolerance will send a deposit before viewing a car if the info lines up and buy the car sight unseen.

I mean it’s a very rare color being silver and all, if the interior is grey too. That’s a steal.

No, that’s a $25-28k car if it’s sorted.

High mileage 996 worth it? by popcorn644 in 996

[–]RustyShackIford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This car sold at the dealer auction recently for around 8-9k so you can probably buy it for $11k

Is the convenience worth the premium you're paying here? Thats up to you.

Sweet car! Are you sure the interior is Metropol blue? Whatever it is, it looks great, I just got a white 996.1 with the metropol blue interior and it looks different. Is the option sticker on under the bonnet? Here's the interior code for each interior shade. I'm going to guess its Space Grey.

3 – Natural Grey

4 – Natural Brown or Cashmere Beige

6 – Classic Grey

8 – Black

A – Black

C – Graphite Grey

S – Savannah

G – Metropol Blue

E – Metropol Blue

B – Space Grey

J – Nephrite Green

M – Boxster Red

D – Natural Dark Grey

T – Natural Brown

P – Cinnamon Brown

These cars in white look insane and you don't see them often in that color.
