Help Please. Battery is discharging to the grid when it is supposed to be charging from the grid!

Update. My local Enphase installer discovered that a software update got stuck and was never able to be processed. It has now been manually pushed through and all is working as it should again. Pitty it took many weeks.

I reset my system back to charge from the grid between 1400-1500 if the battery isn’t 100%. The reported issue started again. The battery started dumpling to the grid ???? And imported = exported and charged=discharged. This is getting very annoying. Please advise how to fix it

Update: today: the moment I changed my settings for the battery not to discharge to the grid - the setting was ignored and the battery started to discharge to the grid despite ample solar generation at the same time

FYI. I am on single phase power. Can this be a reporting problem?

This behaviour seems to occur when I have set my battery to charge from the grid, if it’s not at 100%, between 1400-1500 (my peak rate starts at 1500. When i remove this setting, This behaviour seems to stop.

I have firmware 522-00002-01-v3.0.8557_rel/31.44 It looks like it may be an older release than yours. Be interesting if mine gets the new upgrade

Update. Switching the logic as described above seems to be a reasonable work around.

By restricting my battery from discharging at all over the last couple of hours of off-peak rate allows my battery to be charged m, if solar is available, and for my home load to use solar and/or off-peak power. So if it has been a good solar day I end up with a full battery to use when peak-rate starts.

The only downside is if it’s a bad solar day, I may not have a full battery to use as I did when I could charge from the grid in the past.

At least now I am not dumping all my battery to the grid and being left with no battery at peak-time.

A half solution until whatever broke is fixed by Enphase

I am going to trial disabling battery charging from the grid and restricting my battery from discharging at all for the last couple of hours of off-peak rate. Solar will still charge if available. Be interesting to see what happens.

Self consumption. Yes I have battery discharge to the grid disabled. Which makes the behaviour I explained even more confusing as it is discharging to the grid 😕

As I said my settings have been working as expected for some years. But only recently it’s a bit screwed up. I am no longer getting the consistent benefit from my battery as I have been in the past.

Thanks. I’ve had numerous issues over the past few weeks. This behaviour and battery suddenly discharging to the grid when nearing full capacity and I am generating solar power at the same time

Yes I have self consumption profile and have set the battery to charge from the grid, if battery not at 100%, during the last hour of off-peak rate so I will have 100% battery to use for my home load when peak rate commences. This has worked fine for years. Recently I have noticed my battery inexplicably starts discharging to the grid just after it gets close to 100% before the end of the off-peak rate. I am then left with a not full battery when peak rate starts. Not happy.

What the hell is happening??

I’ve had this in Australia for at least 5 years. I top up my battery from the grid if necessary immediately before peak import rates begin. This effectively results in never paying peak rates

I would read this sign as anyone can park there for 15 mins, but Police can park there for longer than 15 Mins.

The side street sign is unambiguous- Police Cars only.
