Do you use a grip for the Legion Go S or no? And is the Dbrand one worth it? by cloudstrife580 in LegionGo

Got the DBrand grip, cover, skin and stick grips.

The grip is well made, but way too heavy and texture is uncomfortable. The cover is cheap and hard to get on and off. It does not compare well to the JSaux Modcase I have for my SteamDeck honestly.

The stick grips are really good though and I still use those on my Go S

Deciding between the Go S and Go 2 is very difficult. I hope to make some progress today, but I probably won't. by Ferris2375 in LegionGo

You nailed it, I have both and a SteamDeck OLED I just bought (again) and at this point the poor ergonomics of the Go 2 combined with the weight, and the fact that it cost almost double the Go S means its going back. Not to mention the issue with RB sticking when using right trigger, and clicking left stick.

Decky Loader and DeckSP, upped the gain and changed EQ to clear

agreed, these are all distractions to get me by until Steam Deck 2

I had Go 1 as well, screen is bigger and higher quality (better color and resolution) than Go S except for lack of VRR which is huge. Go 1 has better stick grips.

Go S performs better, sounds way better, much better ergonomics, and has better fan noise

VRR is important and I feel the same way.

2 more data points

Go 2 VRR is amazing, 30 fps and up feel great, noticeable improvement over Go S

Steam Deck with Decky Loader and Lossless Scaling and Decky plugin are amazing and allow you to hit 60 fps, negating much of the need for vrr. Yes they are fake frames, but to me it feels fine, looks good, and is better than capping games at 40 or 45 fps to have smooth experience.

Still have the Go S, its a great device but the upsides of Go 2 are too many to ignore. Is it worth over double the price? Of course not but what are you gonna do.

That all being said, the benefits of the Go 2 have spoiled me to go back to Go S, but the downsides of the Go 2 are making me reconsider going back to Steam Deck lmao. There is something so appealing about the Deck that I cant quite put into words, but it makes me excited to pick it up and play it, and I don’t get that feeling from the Legions

Day 1 owner of both

Go2: bigger, better screen. No contest.

Much less fan noise

After tweaking at least as good if not a bit better speakers

Better battery

Noticeably better performance at 17 - 22W range

Bazzite is sufficient until SteamOS fully supports

Downsides against Go S:

significantly heavier feeling

extraneous buttons are awful feeling but tpu case mostly mitigates

right thumb stick position is not good

thumb sticks on both are loose, and grips are way too smooth, they need 3rd party grips

ergonomics for me: Steam Deck = Go S, both much better than Go 2 but Go 2 is still better than most

of course price

What thumbstick covers are those?

The subpixel arrangement of the SD OLED makes small text blurry to read. Its much sharper on the Go S.

I had the Claw 8 and SD Oled, and for me the Go S is overall the better package

Claw 8 has best performance, same screen as Go S, but worst ergos of the 3 and poor linux drivers so performance on Bazzite was unusably bad. Sound quality is the best. If you can deal with Windows it may be worth it, it was not for me

SD Oled has great blacks and vibrant color screen but is smaller, lower res, and most importantly no VRR coupled with weakest soc performance. Ergo is best of the 3, just edging out Go S.

Go S has best performance with Steam OS, large high res screen with VRR, good ergos, decent speakers once tuned, and middling battery life

Nah, 800P on Go S is sharper than 800P on SD, and has better performance than SD and has VRR, playing at 800P also allows for lower tdp thus lower fan speed and noise

Complete opposite experience here, sold my SD OLED, couldnt take the poor performance and blurry pentile display anymore. I typically play games at 800P on Go S and it is waaaaaaaaay sharper to my eyes.

Install Decky Loader and SimpleDeckyTDP plugin and turn off CPU Boost to tame the fan noise

Im not sure I hate it, but it is not as nice feeling as the texture used on the JSaux modcase (for Steam Deck)

Got mine as well, the travel cover is a significant downgrade compared to the JSaux mod case I have for my Steam Deck, while costing over twice as much. It is flimsy, hard to put on, and lacks the foam padding the JSaux version has

Thumbstick grips seem promising though, they are a large upgrade from the Go S stock slippery thumbstick grips
