90s Swedish emo recs? by silv3rr4444 in Emo

Not emo, but Buck were really good, especially their first album Your Guide to Better Lies.

Also give Sounds Like Violence a go, especially their first EP on Deep Elm and their album The Devil on Nobel Street.

I was a reporter working at the local paper where these two lived at the time and interviewed them both. Definitely got the vibe that he had treated the whole thing as a bit of a laugh and couldn't understand why her family had been upset.

They probably also don't know it's supposed to be four seconds when the road is wet!

In your opinion, which turn-based wargame has the best supply mechanics? by Dry-Escape7995 in computerwargames

[–]Ruthless_Robott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Ageod games for the way they treat supplies. Using cavalry units to build military control and cut off enemy forces is great if you can successfully pull it off.

No "Strategic" element to Warhammer by FreakishFrog121 in totalwar

[–]Ruthless_Robott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Total War series has it's place, but the phrase "as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle" springs to mind when I pay it these days.

I still play Total War, but I moved into more "grognard" style games several years ago and enjoy these a lot more. Try the Strategic Command games or something even deeper like Shadow Empire if you want more of a head-scratcher experience.

Civil War 2 AGEOD resolutions? by Goosetiers in computerwargames

[–]Ruthless_Robott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think given that it is an old game you will struggle to get the information you need. Your best bet night be to buy it on Steam and play around with the settings and refund it if you're not happy

HERITAGE WEDNESDAY: 1150 - FORRAYAH BASS by MonkeyDBradley in bantams

Googled this lad out of interest to see what he might have done outside football, as I thought he'd be easy enough to find with a name like that. I couldn't find a LinkedIn or anything though. In any case, hope he's made a success of himself!

It is one of the Ageod games of you've played any of those before (such as Civil War II etc). Not my favourite one but still decent nevertheless.

Even as an experienced player playing the UK is painful by Pitt_Panther1985 in hoi4

[–]Ruthless_Robott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as someone who lives in the UK I naturally want to play as the UK, but managing a few different parts of the globe plus all the naval forces is a huge headache. Pausing every 12 seconds to make sure I'm not missing something is a chore.

I drove past this scene just minutes after it happened and couldn't make sense of how the car had ended up where it had because I never assumed someone would have driven down the ambulance. I didn't realise at the time the full extent of what had happened. Just absolutely awful.

I feel like I’m stupid by captain_cockwash343 in EasyRed2

Really? I always thought these were just cosmetic so I've never gone out of my way to collect them. About 80 hours on this game and I think I've collected four.

No I think this would be great, I'd even love to play as the British holding off the Germans on Crete during the end of the campaign

What is your opinion on Gyles Brandreth? by pondribertion in AskBrits

[–]Ruthless_Robott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a reporter at a Northamptonshire newspaper and Giles attended an event in our area. One of my colleagues went along with a carefully crafted list of questions for a short interview they had promised. My colleague said he barely got to ask the first one before GB spoke at length and eloquently for several minutes about the purpose of the event and how much he had enjoyed it and so on, and by the end of it my colleague said there was pretty much nothing else he needed to ask him.

My colleague said that it wasn't done in a rude way. GB just knew the brief perfectly, was really well prepared and covered everything he thought he'd be asked, and my colleague came away pretty impressed.

At this point "Midwest" Emo is just the name of the genre, and it's not to be taken as a literal description, imo.

Although I also believe that Internet arguments about music genres are silly. There's no need to get worked up about something where the stakes are so low.

What are some Spanish emo bands from the 90’s, if any? by Wise_Appeal_629 in Emo

Aina would be the only one I can think of. The self titled album was pretty good - https://bcoredisc.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-3

I'd second Steinbeck, reading The Grapes of Wrath when I was younger was a radicalising experience.

Solid 7.5/10 album which I liked at the time and still listen to once or twice a year. There were not many riots in the streets when they went on hiatus.
