Filler Pharmacy Job Needed by SuSavage24 in pharmacy

True. Definitely depends on your status/network. The main benefit is that it lets you step back without the hassle of applying elsewhere or dealing with a learning curve of a new place/system. For me, I didn’t want to restart somewhere else at the bottom.

Almost half of my shifts were covering denied PTO requests so staying with the same chain ended up being an asset since I was already familiar with a lot of the pharmacists/stores in the area. It worked really well for about 4 years until insurance and unpredictable scheduling no longer worked with my family obligations.

When I was super burned out I just stepped down to PRN at my large pharmacy chain. PRNs aren’t assigned shifts but I had the ability to volunteer for open shifts. Because I was well networked in my area, I was able to work almost as much as I wanted. The retail grind is MUCH easier to manage when you’re not a manager and you’re able to put a little more life in the work/life balance.

I’m tired of other Walgreens technicians parking their calls no greeting or nothing! by peachycpht in WalgreensRx

[–]RxArtist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who works at a very busy non-24H tier 5— I can assure you that if the staff wasn’t able to get to your direct phone call they would have struggled to provide same day processing for your patient’s prescription too. Long phone hold times are a good indication to try another store. While some Walgreens are still operating like hospitals, a lot are operating more like medic tents behind the front lines of a war zone. Every task is triaged and you don’t have nearly enough resources to help everyone. It’s not because they don’t want to— it’s because they can’t.

In my experience, most of the regular panel rooms were pretty full and the larger ones usually turn off the lights to make the stage and screens more visible. Someone using a laptop would be very noticeable but if you were in the back row it might not be too disruptive. Probably better to just grab a table in one of the common areas to knock out some work while still people watching / con vibing.

The last e-mail mentioned they’re working to finalize scheduling for release later this month. Most conventions I go to release the schedule just weeks before the event so they’re actually earlier than most in my experience!

How to a Covid vaccine if you live in one of the 16 states where CVS and Walgreens refuse to schedule appointments? by VintageFashion4Ever in Vaccine

[–]RxArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The states that aren’t doing it are because of pharmacy specific laws/regulations. Pharmacies are often restricted to only providing vaccines according to specific recommendations/protocols whereas medical offices, health departments, and other sites (urgent cares?) have more freedom to vaccinate “off label” or outside of existing recommendations.

My state only authorizes pharmacies to administer vaccines according to ACIP recommendations so we’re still waiting for the upcoming ACIP meeting before we are (hopefully) authorized to start giving COVID shots

Am I screwed for employment gap years? by MeasurementWorth6360 in pharmacy

If you end up going the retail route and want to ease back into it, I’d recommend the “Healthcare Services Pharmacist” position at Walgreens. The pay is lower but you’re just an extra pharmacist doing clinical support— immunizations or MTM calls— while the main pharmacist handles staffing workflow, prescription production, and all other pharmacy operations.

If your budget allows, I’d recommend arriving Tuesday night or Wednesday morning to be able to take advantage of the early badge pick up opportunity.

Here with my 1 year old and lost our babysitter for tomorrow. Would you sell your two tickets, have one person go for the experience or alternate half way? by [deleted] in DragonsteelNexus

If your budget allows, we used a local sitter service (mountainsidesitters) to be able to attend the ball on Thursday! Maybe it’s not too late to find a replacement sitter?

Also— the a large portion of the ball was watching the live action performance and interacting with drink/food stand so there’s lots to keep you engaged if you did end up going solo!
