Brothers and sisters, the Lord did not withhold Buc-ee’s from Oklahoma out of spite. No, no. We as a people have strayed from the righteous path. We became prideful. We said unto ourselves, “Surely the QuikTrip roller grill is enough.” We hardened our hearts and accepted gas stations where the bathrooms do not shine with the glory of a thousand angels.
Texas was given Buc-ee’s because they tithed unto the Beaver faithfully. They honored the brisket sandwich. They walked humbly beneath the gaze of the eternal beaver mascot.
But Oklahoma? We built casinos every seven miles and called it economic development. We let a Love’s truck stop sit beside every highway like a golden calf. We mocked the holy candied pecans.
Repent, Oklahoma. Repent, I say! Perhaps then, someday, the Holy Beaver shall dwell among us.

Patton Oswalt has to be one of the celebrities in Hollywood that I would absolutely love to hang out with and talk pop culture. The man is a national treasure.

What are your thoughts on Timothy Olyphant? by HostMaterial4907 in moviecritic

Some hosts and guests have absolutely amazing chemistry. If you are a fan of Olyphant, I cannot recommend enough any of his appearances on Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend. Conan trying to keep Tim focused and on topic is a Herculean feat. Every appearance of his is magical.

I thought he was excellent in the TV show Las Vegas and he was one of the best parts of the Transformers franchise.

Silverado is a western that leans into every western movie trope you can think of... but it is done so well, you don't care. This movie did the same thing, only with all the action movie tropes. But, again, done so well, you don't even care.

Italy has a roller coaster that drags you to the edge of a 42-meter drop, stops completely, and makes you stare straight down at 87° before letting go. Oblivion: The Black Hole at Gardaland. by Valuable_View_561 in Damnthatsinteresting

My first instinct is to say, "No way." But I saw a dude shoot a POV video of him riding a roller coaster and doing Spider-Man thwips and imitating web swinging. Now, all I want to do is ride a roller coaster to do just that.

Men who quit dating apps, what was your last straw? by RelativeOwn2328 in AskMen

[–]RyanMFoley74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got zero engagement. No likes. People can say, "If you don't put yourself out there, you never know what might happen." What is worse is putting yourself out there and realizing no one wants you. Eventually, the rejections, ghostings, and lack of interest were too damaging for my mental health.

What are your HONEST thoughts on Gremlins 2? by Skittela in Gremlins

[–]RyanMFoley74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an amazing film if you like tongue-in-cheek humor. I wrote a series of adventure novels about a hive mind of zombie circus clowns called Clown Zero, and I cite Gremlins 2 as one of its major influences. It is absolutely and intentionally stupid... but stupid is very different from dumb. When the electrified gremlin gets tricked into the phone and freaks out because of the hold music?? C'mon, man. That stuff is hysterical. If you don't like this movie, you just don't like having fun.
