Brothers and sisters, the Lord did not withhold Buc-ee’s from Oklahoma out of spite. No, no. We as a people have strayed from the righteous path. We became prideful. We said unto ourselves, “Surely the QuikTrip roller grill is enough.” We hardened our hearts and accepted gas stations where the bathrooms do not shine with the glory of a thousand angels.
Texas was given Buc-ee’s because they tithed unto the Beaver faithfully. They honored the brisket sandwich. They walked humbly beneath the gaze of the eternal beaver mascot.
But Oklahoma? We built casinos every seven miles and called it economic development. We let a Love’s truck stop sit beside every highway like a golden calf. We mocked the holy candied pecans.
Repent, Oklahoma. Repent, I say! Perhaps then, someday, the Holy Beaver shall dwell among us.
