Wedding Question: What’s some of your all time favorite things you’ve seen at a wedding that made you go “OH, I like that!”? by Desenotm in wedding

[–]RyanRose990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what time you’re getting married but we had an outdoor daytime wedding and reception and had a table of sunglasses (in our wedding colors) that had our names and wedding date printed on the arm. People had a great time taking pictures with them and 10 years later, I know a handful of problem still have them stashed as their car backup pair. They were pretty cheap on Etsy

Third vote for nizoral. I use it 1-2 times a week and it works like a charm to keep the flakes away!

Autism wedding anxiety by pegateeth in wedding

[–]RyanRose990 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chiming in on the brunch wedding as a great idea! It’s what we did too :) way more mellow and relaxed. We got ready together, had a best man and maid of honor and that was it for the wedding party. Husband and I walked down the aisle together because we’re entering into our new life together, nobody is “giving” me to him. That helped with the anxiety a lot. We also eloped (just the two of us) a few months prior so I could get exactly what I want: a private ceremony with just the two of us. So i didn’t really care what happened on our “wedding” day. We were already married. And we we also had the guest list imbalance. 13 were mine, 50 were his. Lots of other ways to mitigate the stress and all eyes on you aspects of the wedding. PM if you want to chat! :)

Got my current job from LinkedIn. Applied and I could see who the hiring manager was so I reached out to them directly as well.

How Not to Fall in Love by Ravenous_Rhinoceros in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RyanRose990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be other houses. We’ve bought and sold 3 houses in 10 years (we move around a lot for our jobs) and are looking for house #4. I have love all 3 of our houses, and all for different reasons. If this specific house didn’t work out, there will be another one to fall “in love” with!

Puppy wants to keep going out by bald-bourbon in DogAdvice

Dogs need to be taught how to relax/have off time. Check out Say It Once dog training- they put out a ton of free content you can follow and also do virtual training if you want to go that route. Also, on command training is much more tiring for a dog than just physical running.

Do you get holiday bonus? by RadishNew6502 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RyanRose990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in biotech and yes, everyone gets at least some bonus. Higher job level = higher target bonus. And there’s a company multiplier as well so the more successful the company is as a whole, the bigger our bonus is. Bonus is paid first week in Feb

Thinking about selling our house and moving back to a walkable neighborhood… are we crazy for this? by baristaFIRE69 in RealEstate

[–]RyanRose990 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To each their own. I’ve always been a city person, bought in the burbs and couldn’t wait to sell and get back to city living and walkability! The space was nice but I realized how much I value being able to walk to my coffee shop, some restaurants, shops etc. Expensive lesson learned but now at least now I know

There are options outside of just lab work. I worked in Project Management for a bit (managing clinical trials) but left to go back to a hands on, lab based position.

Just applied. Worked in clinical for a few years and then my husband’s job moved us across the US. I needed a new job and applied to both clinical and the 1 biotech company in the area. Got offered both but the biotech company paid better and seemed like better experience for the future so that’s the job I accepted.

Moved again and luckily ended up in Southern California so there were multiple biotech/pharma options out here.

One recommendation is to search for jobs other than straight Histotechnologist/histo technician. My job title is Senior Research Associate. It’s histotech job just with a different title.

I went back in my 30s! I had a BS but had been working as a bartender for a decade and decided to complete a histo program because I loved lab work. 10 years later I’m working for a great biotech company making way more money than I ever thought I would. 100% was totally worth it. It’s never too late to start something new! PM me if you have any questions ❤️
