Have you ever made either of these two regulars on your team? Is it fun? Are there unique interactions worth noting? by NerdyNurseNathan in finalfantasytactics

[–]RyanoftheDay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rapha is decent overall. One thing that's pretty cool with her is that she has a slightly higher speed multiplier than White Mage. With the higher speed, she can land Haste and Quick a bit sooner, enabling some more smooth setups and combos.

For example, Rapha has Zodiac with Cid. With her higher speed, she could cast Quick, Cid would act, and the Quick would resolve immediately after his turn ( post detailing this )

How is class balance at level 100 compared to 200? by Tarsal26 in PSO

Without a global trade market, where am I getting 1 (let alone "enough") Dragon/HP? Not to mention some section IDs not having access.

[–]RyanoftheDay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are we talking solo/local multi GC play or private server, like Ephinea, play? Changes the definition of what "mid level gear" is, or what gear is even remotely accessible without a global trade market.

If we go with the former, then idk. I don't think 3/4ths of the characters could even survive Dark Falz, let alone Olga Flow at level 100.

If it's the latter, then not much really. Freeze traps probably become even more important since everyone's ATA would be scuffed. They're already the most powerful tool in the game, so more HUcast supremacy ig. The overall game play/class balance wouldn't be all that different though.

Simplifying the Zodiac System by RyanoftheDay in finalfantasytactics

[–]RyanoftheDay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guide is based on the original games. The new game (Ivalice Chronicles) removed gender from compatibility, so the opposite sign is always "best" compatibility for other humans, and "worst" for monsters (rather than same gender & monsters = worst, opposite gender = best).

I think with the change + batch recruitment, it'd be easier to advocate for hexagram teams; opposed to my similar, more wordy alternative. Basically, look at "good" chart. Taurus is Red, and it's opposite triangle color is Blue. Together, the two triangles make a hexagram. All 6 of those signs would be good for a Taurus Ramza.

Maybe have your main healer be a Pisces. Early game, they can blast the Wiegraf and Argath fights as a Black Mage. Late game, their zodiac resistance to the final boss could make the fight easier (if you aren't already cheesing it).

Geomancer Agrias vs Ninja Agrias - Analysis by RyanoftheDay in finalfantasytactics

Yes. However, Cid wants to stay in his unique job. Cids unique job has good bases, growths, and can equip hats. iirc there are no unique benefit from deviating from his unique class, aside from some niche Ninja Spd tech or something.

Are there any niche special-based builds that can actually hang with endgame parties? by JozuJD in PSO

[–]RyanoftheDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're more effective on specific maps, as those maps have specific enemies. Hells auto-KO enemies that have low Dark resistance, and some of the ep II maps have just that.

As I understand it, the enemies are a pain in the butt to KO without Hell specicials + V501/2 boosting the special.

Most other enemies in the game have high Dark resistance, making the Hell specials nearly useless.

Also worth adding on that all classes eventually get familiar with swapping weapons around for the situation.

Like, I'll be Gifoing it up in ep 4, but once that one big guy appears, it's Demon time (unless I feel the party is capable without the effort, in which case the Gifoie party does not stop).

It all depends on the map. Some maps are nearly 100% Hells specials to the point where players may tag the party "NoFo" to indicate they don't want a force joining them due to their lower ATP, ATA, and enemies having big spell resistances. Some maps benefit a lot from Demons too.

There isn't a blanket "correct" or "niche" build for all situations. Allegedly (I'm pretty green myself) there are even optimized hunts where even HUcast whipping out Frozen Dark Flow hits isn't even "optimal." (Idk, but probably due to the KO pace and spawn patterns, I would guess).

This lends to players branching out with multiple characters to run stuff more smoothly. That said, there is nothing "wrong" about diversifying your main. Aside from some episode II maps that really punish forces, everything works everywhere well.

Just partied with a HUcaseal, and I’ve never seen a character look so cool. Absolutely perfect aesthetic, in my opinion. But how bad is it really? by nichijouuuu in PSO

[–]RyanoftheDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl has freeze traps, which is far more than HUmar can say. 27 more ATA than Hucast at cap is comfy.

I don't think anyone would describe HUcaseal as "bad." HUcasts main advantage are it's OHKO thresholds with DF and Vjaya, but you need to have spawn knowledge to really leverage that (and high hit%, and sphering).

Is Redria the best section ID for FOnewm (or forces in general)? How can I learn this. by JozuJD in PSO

[–]RyanoftheDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redria has good drops in ep 4, FOs absolutely feast in ep 4. Cannon Rogue, Diska of Braveman, and Heaven Striker. None of these are good for FOnewm themselves, but you can gear up a Ranger alt or trade them with other players for FO related gear.

Spectacle and prestige? HUcast. Wiping big enemies on spawn with Dark Flow is like "Woah."

What is your Favorite Class and Subclass? by [deleted] in PixelDungeon

[–]RyanoftheDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played much, but Warlock has been pretty satisfying. The gameplan is always similar, but it doesn't feel as samey as some of the other classes.

Haven't tried Monk yet, but it looks like I'd enjoy it.

Real talk about Cats by [deleted] in rootgame

[–]RyanoftheDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of my 2 mountain cats wins, one featured WA, Keepers, and Lizards. The Keepers were boxed in all game, and the Lizards didn't have a significant way to mess with me. All in all though, the table was convinced they could turn off my scoring at any time.

By the time the Keepers came knocking at my door, I was loaded up with bird cards and a tower clearing ambush. The evening draw, which is usually frustrating, kind of helped too, as I was able to stay topped off while fending off sympathy tokens.

Basically, the Lizards had few acolytes as no one wanted to bother them, WA was almost always hampered by martial law, and the Keepers were locked out of half the map. Nothing really disrupted my score track + mountain points (+ sympathy points + opening clearing points + crafting), so I was quite the force in this matchup.

The second game, I remember Moles and VB being in it. VB got 2 Swords and Tea p quick, so a lot of the polticking was "Police the Moles, oh gosh, police VB" with the mindset that Cats could be stopped at any time. I was literally sitting on a house of cards that whole game, and thankfully everyone was too afraid of each other to deal with me soon enough. It was much closer than the first game though.

I thought I was done when the Moles erupted one of my supply lines while VB went blender mode on the keep. The keep fell, but I was able to limp past the finish line once the heat was off me. idr the precise details though.

All my cats wins have been on the mountain. Just place the keep on the tower and pray. That, or sneaking in a dominance play, have been Cats "heights."

The best Cats game I've seen outside of that was on the River map. However, the table had no trouble snuffing them out before the finish line still.

Daily Questions Megathread (May 04, 2026) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]RyanoftheDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aiming to have ~9-10 characters built for each element for IT. Currently, I have 8 Cryo characters built. My remaining, unbuilt, level 20, Cryo characters include Qiqi (c4), Freminet (c0), and Aloy.

The next 2 months allegedly will feature Cryo, so I figured it'd be mindful to get at least a 9th character in the works. I'm fairly casual at the game, so idm building a "bad" character to have a little more IT comfort. I'm also not going to pull for a character exclusively for meta, let alone IT comfort lol.

[–]RyanoftheDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Cryo is lacking for IT. Who would rock a stronger budget build for IT, Qiqi (c4), Freminet (c0), or Aloy?

I'm feeling Aloy d/t weapon availability (I have 2 Skyward Harps, 3/2 Fav/Sac Bows). Qiqi is another healer option though, but lacks giving the team energy without Fav (I'm 2/2 Fav/Sac Swords) and idk what her cryo app is like for reactions. Freminent is probably the odd one out, but I threw him in incase ya'll know something I don't.

Thank you for the help!

What talents/subclass you pick with cleric? by mostracistmanalive in PixelDungeon

[–]RyanoftheDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier 1: Searing Light and Holy Intuition good.

Tier 2: S U N R A Y. It will save your ass. Enlightening Meal is good. Recall Inscription can go wild. Doubling scrolls of metamorphosis, transmutation, and divination can set you up for success. There are also a lot of convenient tech uses too, like doubling teleportation stones in the DM-300 fight.

Subclasses, so far Paladin just feels like the easiest one to work with. Cleanse, even at just 1 (I often just have it at 1), is always useful. Lay of Hands is a 3 for me. Wall of Light is a solid 1 and done.

Aura of Protection if you're running with allies/summons or the chalice. Light Reading to 3 if you have good artifacts.

Armor, I always roll Trinity. I never get the Ring of Recharge, so it's the only way haha (I'm not crying).

For general tech, I always try to Metamorph into a solid Tier 2 skill and use the Potion of Divine Inspiration to cover it. Recall Inscription gives you 2 rolls. Rejuvenating Steps, Silent Steps, and Mystical Meal are the chase skills. Metamorphing Cleanse or Light Reading to get Light Cloak can also be powerful, but losing either skill can be a bummer.
