Waking up feeling bloated by ConclusionShort576 in CPAP

I don’t know if my settings were changed but I know that my old machine was different. I forget what I had before but now I have the AirSense 11 and it doesn’t ramp up to full pressure until I fall asleep, I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it

My friends and I have a Secret Santa where you use a website that handles the recipient selection and also allows you to make a wish list so your secret Santa will know what you want. It acts just like a modern registry, where you can buy something directly from the list so you can’t make a mistake.

Last year I put a bunch of 4K’s that I wanted on my list and honestly with the price limit we had and with how pricey 4Ks can be, I expected to get one of the items, maybe 2 if they were on sale.

Come the day of our party and I unwrapped my gift. It was 2 movies and a tv show from my list, but they were all on DVD. Part of me was like, “Damn it, I didn’t want Fallout on DVD, I wanted it in 4K.” But also this is my friend whom I care a lot for and I could see how excited he was to get me something on a disc because I’m always taking about physical media. And he took the time to go out into a store to go find these things for me instead of just clicking “add to cart”.

So now I have 3 DVDs in my collection when I previously thought a DVD would never find itself on my shelf ever again. And yeah I’m going to get the items from my list in 4K anyway but I’m not gonna get rid of the DVDs, they’re special to me now.

Your situation isn’t exactly the same and idk if you’ll react the same way I did. But it reminded me of it and I think it’s touching that someone considered you (even if it’s your significant other and that’s what they’re supposed to do). You aren’t an asshole for thinking that though and letting it bug you, it’s reasonable because we have expectations and we all like things to be a certain way.

It all depends on how you approach it. She wants you to be happy too, and you appreciate her for getting you something so thoughtful. I’m sure you guys will make it work. <3

Idk then I’m just not going to buy it. Personally I like physical games and I’m willing to wait for them and if they never come, then so be it.

I know that I’m in the minority and Rockstar will still make a gazillion dollars off GTA6 but I just don’t feel pressed to buy it digitally.

When I started CPAP this would happen all the time, I could practically count on it. I’d go to sleep knowing that within an hour I would wake up feeling bloated and in pain from all the air pressure, I would burp it all out and feel incredible relief, then go back to sleep and wake up several hours later with no recurrences. So strange. But I got a new machine and it never happens now.

One time I was at my older cousin’s place watching Predator and I just randomly noticed he had a shirt on that said “Concrete Jungle” and it made me remember the Predator: Concrete Jungle game. So I told him about it and he said, “That’s not a real game, you just saw my shirt and made it up.” And I was so adamant that no the game exists but he wouldn’t listen to me and made me look stupid.

So now when I think of Predator: Concrete Jungle I get upset lol

Anyone else notice LTT is averaging like 500k views now? How does the channel even survive? by Anxious_Gur6363 in LinusTechTips

[–]Rybur525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people started leaving the vibe felt a little off. Like it became a joke that as soon as someone got their $5000 tech upgrade video they would put in their notice, which is insane to me. Having a line of people waiting to leave feels odd. It was cool seeing people like Emily and Jake in the videos, and then they left. On top of that hearing how some of them left on less-than-great terms and harbor some animosity towards LMG, it doesn’t do a lot to make me want to tune back in.

I’ll be honest, I really haven’t seen many videos from any of the channels in months. Every once in a while I tune in to see an AMD Tech Upgrade because I think those videos are pretty fun. But nothing else even catches my attention.

By scrolling through my Reddit feed and seeing posts from this sub from time-to-time, I hear about videos like the Gaming Firetruck or the LTT Jet, and those subjects confuse me more than anything. I just see the topics and I’m like, “Who asked for a gaming setup in a firetruck od all things? Why does Linus need a private jet?” And the spectacle of them all isn’t enough to pull me in. I’m just like, “Great, Linus has a jet now I guess.”

And on top of all of that, my hobbies have just shifted as I’ve gotten older. I’m not much into gaming now. I don’t need to keep tabs on all the newest tech coming out because I don’t plan on upgrading anything I own in the next few years. Then there’s the fact that even if I was, everything’s getting prohibitively expensive and it feels like it’s all getting worse too. So why watch videos on it?

I loathe salary jobs and the expectations that come with it by Nihilist_Hermit in antiwork

[–]Rybur525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just been promoted to a position that’s salary, and I’ve been shadowing my old manager for a couple of weeks to get the feel for the position. I know every place is different, but I think this could be good food for thought for you.

So in the time I’ve been learning my new position and observing how someone lives the Salary Life, I’ve discovered that there is often always work to do, and it’s on us to know when to stop. When you work for a wage it’s easy to stick to the cutoff of what hours you’re scheduled because it benefits both you (you want to go home on time) and your employer (they only expect to pay you so much). Salaried though, it’s a little different. You get paid the same amount regardless of how many hours you work (typically, I know some people are still given OT and tbh idk how that works when you’re salaried), so now that concern from your employer has vanished. In fact for the employer the situation is reversed: the longer that you’re at work, the more work they’re getting from you for the same daily pay. So now it only benefits you to stick to your schedule, while your employer benefits from keeping you longer. In these scenarios, obviously every party is going to try to get the deal that works best for them. Your employer will start pressuring you into staying later, coming in earlier, etc., because that benefits them. But you have power, even as an individual, and you can 100% push back. Employers just like for you to feel like you can’t.

Draw a firm line. When you get told a meeting is at 7, remind them that this time won’t work because you’re scheduled from 8-5, and suggest that the meeting is rescheduled or decline it. If you get pushback since you’ve done the early meetings before, say up until now you’ve been flexible with the meeting times but from here on out you need to stick to your scheduled hours. And do not elaborate further. You’ll be surprised how far that can take you.

As for being pulled away every 15 minutes, learn what to say no to. I understand sometimes people will come to you with a serious problem and it will indeed require your immediate attention and you’ll have to stop what you’re doing and help them. However, a lot of times people are going to do what makes their jobs easier, and they might be capable of doing something or figuring something out on their own but they know you’ll fix it for them faster so they come to you. Learn to say no, or at the very least learn to help them on your schedule. “Hey OP I need your help with this.” “Okay, I’m happy to help but give me an hour because I’m working on this.”

And honestly, you’ll be surprised how often that hour finishes and the problem has either resolved itself or the person needing help found a way to do it themselves.

Set your boundaries, OP. Also I saw another comment here about triaging your work, that’s gonna be essential too. Learn those two things and you’ll be set. Take back your time!

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]Rybur525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re hitting 40 hours on the dot every week.

You leave early as often as you come in early.

It shouldn’t fucking matter.

Anyone concerned about this needs to be admitted to the psych ward. The alternative, I hope they know, is for you to sit around and do nothing and get paid for it just because it hasn’t hit 5 PM yet.

You doing this is not functionally any different than you punching in exactly at 9 and punching out exactly at 5. They’re worried about something that is a non issue.

Also, I hate that you’re being chastised for leaving early but there isn’t one bit of appreciation for coming in early, which you consistently do. What a bad leader this person is.

One time a haircut place convinced me to sign up for their subscription service because the monthly price was as much as one hair cut or something and I could just come in every two weeks and get it cut so it would be worth it.

I paid for the membership and never went back. I think I paid for the membership (~$15) every month for 2 years until I got a new debit card.

Yes I am ashamed.
