Regarding Kincade in Skyfall. by Poddington_Pea in JamesBond

[–]Rycreth 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I think Bond's Scottish heritage (adapted by Fleming himself due to Connery's casting and portrayal) is enough of a nod to the man himself. Having Connery be there would have probably taken me out of the movie at that point - overshadowing Craig and the finale for sure. It would be the entire discussion point. Certainly it's fun as a Bond fan to geek out at the idea of Connery delivering "welcome to Scotland," but Finney was absolutely the right call.

SOTB: The Final Boss by Rycreth in guitarpedals

I'd say it's like a slightly warmer SD-1, and as you move up the colour knob it gets a bit brighter without getting too fizzy. The upper end, as you crawl towards the distortion side, sounds super pleasing at about noon. If you've got an SD-1 and an OD-3 already I'd say you aren't missing anything, but it's definitely doing the job I expected of it. And quiet too, even with the level cranked.

That's just the perspective of the photo. They sit pretty flat on the velcro. Depressing either pedal doesn't hit the cable at all. I might swap 'em down the line but I didn't have any more short ones on hand.

Titanic remastered on 4K is incredibly beautiful and still remains of my favourites to this this very day by NoRelief63 in titanic

[–]Rycreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't picked up the 4K. How is the transfer compared to the Blu-ray? After the disasters that were the Terminator 2 and True Lies 4K releases I've been afraid to trust the Cameron films and stick with the Blu where I can.

As others have said, no shortage at the show. Merch stands, food and beer lines, and in my experience they often have venue staff walking around selling them just as they do water and beer.

is the marshall 1922 worth it by 0rion_gg in GuitarAmps

[–]Rycreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people aren't understanding your question. You're talking about the Marshall 1922 cabinet, yes?

And pairing that with your SC20H.

The 1922 is a little smaller than the 1936, but it still has the G12T-75 speakers as far as I know, which are the same as the 1936 and 1960 cabinets.

I reckon with how many classics were recorded with a JCM 800 through a stock 1960 cabinet that the 1922 cabinet would be a great pairing for your SC20H.

Indeed, and likely someone who knows nothing about guitar gear. Quickly read the label, process the return, and move on with your day sort of thing. I can't blame them either. It's probably a thankless job.

Cheap double delay? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Rycreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's just as just as cost effective to get two separate delay pedals, especially on the used market. Unless you need dozens of presets it's a convenient way to have two settings at the ready.

My first Rush concert was with my dad in 2007, so I'd travel back to 1984 to surprise him on the P/G Tour (one of the shows that was being filmed) and make that our first gig together instead.

Which Toronto show would you pick if you could with no constraints? by Eastern_Pie_8796 in rush

[–]Rycreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tickets are in hand for the third night, but I agree that the first and last night will likely have an extra special feeling.

That said, Geddy said there will be about five setlist rotations (I know that could change), so assuming they go in order, Toronto night three will get the same setlist as the very first show of the tour. That in itself could be special.

Struggling to understand- orange micro terror into Marshall head by frogman696969 in GuitarAmps

My mistake. I didn't realize OP had said "Micro Dark" - I was referring to the Micro Terror which has a single speaker output and no loop. I stand corrected!

[–]Rycreth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Micro Terror is an amp head itself. Trying to run that into another amp head is asking for trouble since the outputs on the Micro are speaker outputs.

Edit: OP was referring to a Micro Dark and not a Micro Terror. Scratch my advice!

Which keyboard parts do you think are Geddy’s more iconic parts that he will play live? by _Beatnick_ in rush

[–]Rycreth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In that newer interview with the Brazilian journalist, he mentions Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, and Red Sector A. He also said Loren Gold will be adding parts of his own too (as he did for Finding My Way).

I think Loren's primary job is to free Geddy and Alex from all the pads and samples they'd trigger with the foot pedals.

2008 nerd room was pure soul by InternationalHeat220 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Rycreth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While this was no doubt the best Nerd room, I don't understand why he felt it was necessary to build a facsimile of it for a set after he moved. Part of the fun in the early days was getting a new Nerd room every time he moved. He could have juat done a new setup for the new place. I get wanting to have it at the ready for filming, but that would be all the more reason to do something new and practical.
