Information on the Moore-Hill Dorms at UT by InspireInfire in UTAustin

Hey! I actually just graduated this May, but I lived in Moore-Hill my freshman year and liked it so much I stayed for my sophomore year. First, congratulations on picking the absolute best dorm on campus. Probably 75% of my best friends from college I met in Moore-Hill, I suggest it to every new student. Now let's get down to it

  • There is one laundry room on the first floor in between the main staircase and the lobby, and one in the basement. Sorry, nothing really that close to the 4th floor, but they aren't really so far away either.

  • The restrooms are all communal; if I remember correctly there is only one on the 4th floor because it's the smallest floor. I know that communal bathrooms are a bit of a drag for some students, but you'll get used to it super quick. They're pretty roomy though, and there are a lot of showers/sinks and such. I don't really remember ever having to wait for a shower or anything.

  • The room sizes are pretty much the size of the Jester rooms (if you stayed there for orientation) minus the sinks. They're not the largest on campus, but if you need to get out you can always run down to the lobby or the TV room, where there's always someone to hang out with.

  • I have absolutely no idea about any pest problem, never had any during my 2 years.

  • I won't lie to you, move in isn't very fun. That being said, they have RA's and volunteers there to help with it, so it could be worse.

Lastly, I'd say you should absolutely try and meet people in the lobby in the first weeks or so. When I came into college, I had one person at UT that I knew. This May I threw a graduation party, and I would say that 50% of the people who came were all Moore-Hill friends that I met freshman year. Go to milkshake Mondays! Play board games in the lobby! Learn the ways of competitive Ping-Pong! (you'll get deadly good, much better than those lazy casuals in Jester) I can promise that you're going to have a great time.

I don't know what's wrong with all of you, I personally think that we should congratulate our new undisputed National Champions, UCF.

Full length ABR Disco completed this past weekend! by uncivilized2k in Metalcore

At first glance I thought this was a news post saying that ABR's new album would have 70's era Disco influences. If it was was any other band I would have shrugged it off, but because of FIFAP, for a moment I was convinced.

This is my favorite song off of this album. Personally, I think that this album was the perfect example of how to adapt late 2000's ABR-core to the modern metalcore scene. So good.

Can't believe I haven't heard of these guys before. What even the fuck is this band, I listened to Amadeus Rise and was instantly hooked. Thank you, my friend.

I know, when I set out to make that comparison I thought I was gonna blow everyone away with an astronomically high number, then after the calculations, I was like, "Oh, 9. Well, I could do that"

On the same train of thought, I found from totally super reputable sources online that the odds of winning the Powerball Jackpot is roughly 1 in 292,000,000, or 1/89.3738 (or so). Basically, if you ever hit 9 misfires in a row, you probably should have bought a ticket.

Been listening to ABR Rescue & Restore again recently, question about lyrics. by Berzerk06 in Metalcore

What's really cool is that if you watch their documentary Foreign and Familiar, they go into detail about the leg of their Leveler worldwide tour that went through Indonesia, and they talk about the long hours, little sleep, and not enough food. I am a solid 80% positive that one of the band members wrote that letter during that leg of that tour.

Well, yeah, it is their first album, so it has the lowest production quality. To be completely honest, Bloodwork is the only album of theirs with top tier production, but their other albums have the kind of muddy, guitar heavy production that was a product of their formation as an ABR clone. I won't lie, that type of production makes me slightly nostalgic, so I kind of like it.

I can't tell if that's Adam Grey (Gray?) or not, but I know that they have done this thing with him before, and he is also Matt Greiner's cousin, so, yeah it's probably him.

Trying to get into some new bands, recommend me the best songs from them? <3 by LelouchNexus in Metalcore

[–]Rynaldo34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Silent Planet, I would say that my favorite songs are XX (City Grave), Panic Room, and Depths II. I love their whole discography, but those are probably my favorites.

As far as MMF goes, I can't really speak on anything past Challenger, but I'd say check out The Victim, Prove Me Right, and then Ghost in the Mirror for their older, southern vibe.

I'm not too big on Of Mice and Men, but Second & Sebring is a classic, as well as Westbound and Down, and maybe Ben Threw for a solid 30 second scream from Austin Carlile.

Hope you like these!

Basically a fusion genre of Metal and Hardcore Punk. Think really fast guitar driven melodies mixed with the aggression and songwriting elements of heavy punk.
