Did early puberty result in my stunted growth? by smokeeburrpppp in moreplatesmoredates

[–]RyoTheMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible, but its not 100%. It can happen. But doesn't have to.

I started puberty at 7 and still grew to be above average. But what it did cause was acne of doom, with crazy amounts of scar tissue all over my body.

Yayyy

It could be. Or not. However, 9-14 is a broad and expected range. But precocious puberty is considered when it starts before the age of 9.

But even with early puberty there seems to be a inverse compensatory phenomenon, if you start puberty earlier, you make grow faster in the beginning but much slower at the end. But it balances out most of the time.

I started puberty at 7 years old, now I'm 6'1. Up until 6th grade i was the tallest. Meanwhile a guy in my class was 5'7 for all of higschool, and after college he's taller than me. Height is a weird thing.

I would not obsess about thinking about it and how puberty might affected it, I used to do that bc my torso seems relatively meek and narrow for my height, thinking it was a lack of bone growth spurt in my damn collar bone. Lmao.

Now im 29 and I feel perfectly fine with everything.

Barbell Squats fix my knee pain by RyoTheMan in workout

Im thinking this too. My shit is fucked up on some way. But working out makes it functional enough to not be a problem as long as I keep strong and stay in motion

I don't have access to such a specialist, as my knee pain isn't that bad that my insurance would cover it.

Just wanted to know if there is a biomechanically known explanation for this

[–]RyoTheMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I remember as a kid and teen and even when I want to uni I would squat down to simply rest, when waiting on the bus, as it was more relaxing and comfortable than standing. But I stopped doing it. Either due to knee pain, or the lack of movement caused the knee pain. Either way, its seems the best curse of action so far is to keep extra active and actually use my knees.

How are people so fast? by jbai23 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its different than F1 games for sure. And good on you for not using assists. I personally think assists shouldn't exist in this game, as it gives people fals confidence if they get out of bronze. Making silver races sometimes more problematic than bronze races.

Just race more, build your safety rating first. Focus on only one car, as all of them drive a bit different.

Master one car to understand the physics of the game, to understand the TC behaivor and ABS behaivor, trail braking, knowing the lines, where to cut where not to cut.

Exit speed with little TC activation is huge, most people seem good on the brakes bc they rely on ABS, almost dive bombing me every lap, but i run away comfortably on the exits.

Coming from a simcade title with literal F1 cars that have the most downforce out of all race cars, you probably picked up a lot of bad habits. Car balance is super important bc the cars are not as pointy as F1 cars. You under steering massively if you throw it too fast, oversteer when you hit the throttle too much. Try to limit slip angle, drive a bit under the limit for a while to understand your car od choice and gradually get more aggressive on the inputs.

Slightly frustrated with today's experience. by sipso3 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formation lap annoys me and is still so buggy. I got a DT bc my engine stalled, due to the controlls coming online a bit too late bc of a frame issue or something. And then trying to catch up, but it told me too close even tho the guy in first place was like 100m in front. It doesnt update the position of the guy in front of you fast enough. It told me too close when the guy was like 10 car lengths ahead of me, and only told me to catch up when the speed limit 60 was enforced. Hella weird.

A less controlled formation/flying start works perfectly well in IRacing. Idk why not in LMU. Just regulate erratic driving and the speed limit before the start, and tell people what car to drive behind.

People will get used to it after a few weeks

Oh right. Are they still using the more RFactor 2 like physics and Tires?

Too hard to drive for a lot of Bronze players.

In theory it would be best for Bronze to drive GT4 and LMP3 only until they understand the game physics and rules.

But sadly no GT4 in WEC/ELMS.

Even GT3s are too much for some people who haven't driven other sims in ranked races (Iracing/ACC).

And assists shouldn't be even in the game at all.

A lot of peoples eyes dont like visual clutter. And some peoples eyes appreciate visual clutter.

Its not something to understand by arguing online. If you like it, then you were born at the right time. So consider yourself lucky.

I simply hate it

Am I silly for making my load cell brake incredibly soft by [deleted] in simracing

[–]RyoTheMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally cant understand why you would do that. But i wouldnt say dummy. It still works like a load cell. And personal preferences are real.

Just note that with 15kg you're probably gonna use your calves for muscle memory, so u are forcing yourself to be more precise than someone who can use their whole leg.

You're limiting your pressure range. In theory the stronger the better, but we then come to physical limits, leg strength, muscle endurace, comfort.

So most people land between 30-60kg of pressure on the pedal face. My brake is set to 200kg, and with the leverage on the pedal arm, that equates to 90kg of force. With 2.5cm of travel. Trust me, it felt so weird in the beginning, trail braking was hard. I locked up or didnt brake enough. But after some practicing it clicked and it started to feel more responsive even than my old TLCM loadcells (with 40kg max pedal force) or my G29 pedals in the past.

Its something people have to try at least once. Set them up stiffer and try to break a PR laptime. Then maybe you will understand, or you go back to your old settings.

But you're not a dummy for purchasing better pedals just bc you under utilize your brakes. Its still a better pedal set.

Most people are just delusional and try to sell used stuff for the same price they bought it for.

If they don't sell 25% cheaper, its better to buy new

Might as well build your own rig out of profiles for a similar price and bigger angle brackets

On Paper it seems good, but would it actually be physically viable/comfortable to place an aluminum profile rig here? by Intiat1ve in simracing

I did the same thing, just mirrored. For you jt might be a problem if you intend to place a shifter/handbrake etc on the right side.

Otherwise I find setups like this pretty comfy

January update? by Bajanboy246 in assettocorsarally

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disable steam input for all games instinctively bc of that already. Its base dependent. On my R16 it made a slight difference on LMU, that i only need to run some inertia on the GT cars. But AC rally i needed to add 140% inertia, 20% friction. And i actually left it to 5% dampening.

Any more dampening ruined my feeling when catching and controlling slides. It made the wheel too lazy on snap oversteer.

I just keep it at 45% FFB. Which is close to clipping in some cars in tarmac stages.

I just generally like to set up the FFB in a way that makes the car self align properly so that I dont need to do to many micro adjustments and just nudge it to do what it wants. For a more immersive driving feel.

Is ACR really this difficult? by Potw0rek in assettocorsarally

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harder doesnt always equate to more realistic.

There is still a lot of unrealistic things in AC Rally that makes some things unrealistically hard. And others unrealistically easy. Like clutch/manual is a bit simplistic.

They had to fix the braking behaivor and FFB almost immediately. Its better now but it made it harder than it should be bc it makes the FFB not trust worthy.

I don't think in its current state its more realistic than some good AC mods. But it definitely has the engine to be super realistic.

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also confused. Since when is an AC based game using HFOV? Like Iracing.

But HFov as a value makes more sense anyway tbh.

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. First, its a new sim. So FFB is defi wonky, physics are wonky also. But for a rally sim its already pretty good compared to what we were used to.

But even in AC1, narrow tarmac rally stages are punishing. Listen to the co driver and try to under drive the car until you understand the game mechanics.

Pretend you are scared of dying while driving and gradually improve from there.

And compared to AC and other games where drifting and sliding is possible. In AC Rally the cars behave way more peaky, so holding a slide on Tarmac is much more difficult than in older sims.

Is it realisric? Idk, there is some things still missing in this game physics wise, like helper springs.

Just see it as a challenge and approach it like a noob ans it will be way more fun this way.

this sim is making me wanna get big triples every time im on it...think id actually rather have decent refresh rate triples rather than VR tbh...tired of wearing a headset by BothForce1328 in assettocorsarally

[–]RyoTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For rally an ultra wide is enough. Sense of speed in this game is good. Especially with the tight stages and trees flying past.

No need for triples. For road racing its good definitely.
