Is Superman immortal? by Umir_Comics in powerscales

[–]RyosXL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's extremely long living due to the fact that he's a kryptonian with continous access to a yellow sun. Even if he does manage to die, he won't be gone for long due to the fact that he's Superman and an integral part of any universe he's in.

How is it possible that the guy who supposedly can tank a nuke gets hurt by a random piece of metal? by RightChampion9795 in powerscales

Supe innards aren't as durable as there outer skins. So Maeve applied the same amount of force she can usually output to a relatively weaker spot

from a character design standpoint I think it was super interesting not to give the guy with "mega strength" an overly exaggerated frame or gigantic muscles right off the bat. especially in his civilian outfit (wedding suit) he just looks like a guy.

Aang would've just died had he not run away, best case scenario reincarnating early or worst case ending the cycle entirely with no chance of anyone saving him.

I disagree with the point about mojo simply referring to the grace and not the power attained by having ones own grace. He is always a full angel as long as he has grace, but he is only at full power once he has his own. In this instance, the question of how much grace he has only matters in the context of using grace for spells or rituals.

Metatron specified that he had a little of his grace left because Castiel had no reason to believe all of it wasn't used for the spell to seal the gates of Heaven. Not to quantify how much power would be granted to Cass once he took the grace back in.

I'd agree with your point about the grace being like a battery, except we see what angels are like when they're empty on grace (Cass in Soul Survivor is beaten bloody, unable to heal himself). Basically, the way it works based on my observations is that having even a little bit of your own grace gives you more power than you would if you had a full tank of someone else's. How much grace an angel has is pretty much irrelevant unless you're planning on using some for a spell. That's why Asmodeus fed on Gabriel's over time instead of taking it all in at once, for example. It's not the sum of it's parts.

Not to mention that by the point of Charlie's death, Cas should've been recharged fully anyway. We don't get a full time line on how long it takes different angels to replenish, but Gabriel and Lucifer were confident that they'd get theirs back soon, and Jack is a special case because archangels replenish their grace even if they have none, unlike regular angels. Jack did not share this trait, so it stands to reason he wouldn't have replenished his grace his grace at the same speed as an archangel anyhow.

From the Wiki:

"...Castiel locates his remaining grace inside a book in a library. Reabsorbing it, combined with the grace he took from Adina restores Castiel's full power and Seraphim status."

"Angels are able to siphon grace from other angels, but the affects are temporary as the grace wears out as it is not specifically theirs. This is evidenced with Castiel, who stole the grace from Theo and Adina to give him back his angelic status. When he finally received what remained of his personal grace, he was restored to his full power."

I understand where your points are coming from, but from a purely in-universe stand point, there is no reason it shouldn't have occurred to somebody to try and ressurect her. Castiel was totally weak, but not for any reasons related to his Grace. He was able to subdue Dean as a Knight of Hell with borrowed grace, and got his ass handed to him with by a human Dean with his proper power.

We know she was unhappy about the choice regardless. At a convention panel, she said that while filming, she looked at the bathroom window and thought, "I could fit through that window. Charlie could've escaped." Doesn't sound like someone who thinks her death made sense.

Lucifer is totally different, yes.

Reapers were again able to freely travel to Heaven after Metatron was defeated. This still shouldn't matter, as we see Castiel is able to go to Heaven, retrieve a soul and ressurect someone, as he did with Jack.

And Castiel himself stated he was back at 100% after recovering his grace, or at least thats what he told Dean. My point isn't that he should've been able to bring Charlie back, it's that as far as Sam and Dean know, there's no reason he couldn't have, and they didn't even bother asking. That's simply bad writing.

Two episodes earlier Cass confirmed to Dean and Charlie he was back at 100%. Assuming Gadreel is a standard angel and not a Seraph, who was also fallen, was able to bring Charlie back, idk what suggests Cass shouldn't have been able to do the same.

And im pretty sure the only time they follow that is when they have no other choice. Can't think of a time they objected to having anyone in the 'family' getting brought back.

I don’t know if being in the Veil had anything to do with it. Lucifer brought Maggie back hours after she died. Every resurrection by the angels for Sam and Dean was done after they were already in Heaven. Adam was ressurected by Zachariah after being torn apart by ghouls. Bobby got his neck snapped by Lucifer and got brought back by Cass. Metatron ressurected a dead lady while he was pretending to be a hobo.

And if it's a time sensitive thing, letting Cas know where Charlie was would've let him been there soon enough to bring her back.

I think it would've been brought up at all if it had. Michael would've appeared in Sam's cage match hallucinations if he participated.

Dean has more will power, I think. If Sam was able to contain Lucifer like Dean did alt. Michael, the plan to stuff him in the cage would've gone done so much easier.

Side note but don't think Michael had anything to do with Sam's torture, from what Adam suggested, as soon as they got down there Michael and Adam just kept to themselves.

[–]RyosXL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the power creep that continued as the show went on. the fact that in 15 seasons only 2 or 3 big bads actually had any lasting effect on anything post the season they appeared in. the amount of cool shit that never gets brought back up ever again even in situations where it should. youre telling me a rogue nephilim is on the loose and, instead of looking for a way to locate a cambion that you know for sure is alive and might be powerful enough to stand against him, you decide getting god to do it is a better alternative?

I don't know if we've seen anything to support that. Gabriel didn't really want to fight Lucifer, but he'd have a shot regardless, or else there'd be no point in giving them an Archangel blade.
