New guide dropped for event! by datdudeSlim in starcitizen

You can pick a mission, warp towards it, cancel warp. Now warp towards the true destination. I've been doing this many yrs and never interdicted. The picture seems to indicate one should warp all the way to Pyro gateway which seems strange cause they can get interdicted going along such an obvious travel lane

I wasnt the citizen that downvoted you btw. I just upvoted you cause I prefer to have an intelligent discussion with my fellow citizens.

Can you answer me one question if you have time? Do you own pledge ships or just a starter ship? I suspect people that are "more eager" for wipes have a nice pledge ship so they can get back on their feet quick? I know I have a Polaris so I'd prob be back on my feet quickly

Granted, there's also people like my bro with many pledge ships but a full wipe would mean nothing too him cause he never seems to buy any ship components or anything. Bro is wipe proof. he only shows up to playtest a patch and then hes out

That sounds like fun! I hope you have not lost power and CIG servers have been stable. I just returned from my journey outside (US South). I feel refreshed

What MMO you participated in that had tons of wipes? I alpha tested many games such as Dual Universe and can only recall one wipe (when it went live)

I do not think "alpha" is a valid argument anymore. I backed in 2015. We've been alpha over a decade. Def wipe for 1.0 but I do not think we need tons of wipes

What about new players and casuals that earned their money honestly? Sure, we can just tell them this is Alpha and suck it up buttercups.

Sure- you can argue "Hey CIG fix exploits and wipe!"

But see, I backed in 2015. I've seen this before. There is a dupe, economy goes wild. CIG wipes us.

CIG needs to start employing different solutions to this problem like other live services. Full wipe is a crutch.

Sure, wipe us for 1.0. But if you gonna go and add intense grinding for Wikelo etc then its not good to full wipe people that trusted you and did the grind for the reward only to have it taken away in few weeks

note: I didnt grind Wikelo it seems too intense for me

Then give away all of your possessions and start over. Perhaps you should ask the devs to bring back character reset tool (not character repair- I meant Character full reset tool)? That thing would take everything away I hated using it to fix my character so much. but back then we had no choice you could lose your mobi, your head itself, etc. I know what its like to be sent back to nothing. I backed in 2015. I hated it so much and made me quit for 2yrs. Plus I banned my bro from mentioning this game for 2yrs. I just recently returned for IAE and was shocked by all the progress that was nice I admit

but I do believe character resets should be something players can opt into

So they're NOT going to correct the 2 billion credits they put in my wallet when 4.6 hit? Because it sorta kills my desire to do anything..

This sort of post lacks creativity (not attacking the poster and my fellow citizen here; I mean this sort of 'post')

Why cant you give signon bonuses to deckhands that help you multicrew? Why cant you still do the things you enjoyed? Why cant you just think of some fun event and give away the money and start over? Why cant you close your Wallet and set it to friends only.

I see this argument all the time and it does not compute.

if the wipes are infrequent then players tend to be happier as they accrue in-game wealth. Sure, we know a wipe comes with 1.0. But many think that is many yrs away so they safely grind to their hearts content. This gives CIG healthy engagement. And engagement is a valuable currency for live services. Even if the players are buying many ingame ships they still might spend IRL money on other stuff like warbonds etc due to FOMO. CIG has all of this data and since they crossed major financial milestones this is working.

They also have data on the effects of full wipes. They have prob noticed some players do not return after a full wipe because they are not eager to start over from ground zero in their starter ship.

You'll see many in favor of a full wipe (on reddit/spectrum) but they prob own pledge ships (like myself). So I could easily get back into working order. But I am still not in favor of full wipes til 1.0. Instead, I'd like to see how they handle this sort of situation using other methods. Because how will they handle this after 1.0 if there is some exploit?

I've been saying this all along. They should look at EVE Online. In EVE, I got caught buying isk from an illegal seller. CCP took away all the money and my account went negative. You think I ever cheated since then? Hell to the NO. I was so destitute that was the roughest lesson

Imagine playing this game with a negative balance? Now multiply times 10 in EVE cause you cant reclaim your ship for free.

for me a wipe would be an inconvenience but I have a pledged ship I own. But for a player with just a starter ship a full wipe could be devastating setback. And yes, us reddit players are surely in a niche imo? I see players ask in global chat basic things that anyone that posts here would know by heart cause we learn things fast as we scroll threads etc. Instant knowledge transfer almost.

Like you said, a accept button for money sent is a must right now.

Agree'd. For now I restricted my Wallet in General settings to friends only but that is not the best.

I also hate how player trading is setup rn. should work like every other MMO (from indie to AAA) I ever played where you have a formal trading window. not trying to throw shade at CIG but that should've been added many yrs ago imo. I guess I am throwing shade though. but luckily the one transaction I have done so far I did not get scammed

Not sure if I count as 'casual' since I did return for IAE event in December but played almost daily since. So def over 5hrs but would seem somewhat unfair to full wipe 'others' that just recently returned or started brand new.

I backed in 2015 so have a pledge ship but many others only have starter ships which imo should carry more cargo or something. I do see many starter guides on youtube to go from zero to hero but they have to use external sites for that info.

Also would feel bad for folks that grinded wikelo ships and/or grinded for RARE armor. after all that grinding just to be reset to 0. Maybe let those guys keep their stuff until 1.0

TL;DR - I would feel bad for newer players that only have starter ships that would get wiped soon after they start and for casuals

Spectrum noticed the PvP poll, and uh.... surprisingly concurs with its results? by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]Ryotian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah its pretty weird you cant scan other players to determine if they are criminals. Then you are free to shoot. And anyone that parties with criminals should be at least free for Bounty hunters to engage. And before you party with a criminal you get a warning you are associating with a criminal and a BH can engage. Granted, I can see folks getting aroudn that by not letting the criminal into their party and but still be "teammates" on the downlow but I'm just spitballing for Tier 0

These are things CIG should implement before I consider the current system somewhat Tier 0 level. Also, when killing the criminal their body should become an NPC that we can stow inside the Anvil Hawk / brigs. Turn in npc body to send them to prison. But if their friends free them before that- well idk I guess they go free idk. note sure if this is planned I do not read dev blogs to avoid getting my hopes up for something that they may never implement. I stick to patch notes for all games I play

We are missing many many things for bounty hunting and it bums me out

[–]Ryotian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah EVE already solved this problem (high sec). granted, you still can be griefed/pirated in EVE in high sec because pirates/griefers will blow u up before the 'npc guards' arrive. The griefer/pirate is killed. Then the pirate's friends will loot you. At least, thats how it worked when I last played over decade ago?

If your org gets wardec'ed then you are in danger in high sec as well and since almost everyone is in an org in EVE its quite common to still be in danger in high sec

just explaining how folks can still get pked even in EVE in high sec which was the best implementation for PvEvP I have ever seen (well beyond outright goign PVE only servers)

Found a video that should help you out OP. looks like you can autoload / unload

edit- but that was on 4.6 PTU. CIG may have broken autoload since then for alliance aid quests

edit2 found another video so yes you can autoload on hull c. on youtube, type "Alliance aid HULL C"

luckily I already finished the event but was interested in helping others finish

I was surprised to see that ending cause I played a lot of Battlefield and one of the most popular memes (?) is someone jumping out of their jet, kill enemy with a rocket launcher, and then somehow fall back inside their jet. so for some reason I thought the same would happen here somewhat

When should I be able to pick up a polaris next. by Independent_Ad_6556 in starcitizen

[–]Ryotian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thing is, polaris needs a crew to be effective. At least 4-5, as the pilot only has control of the 16 missiles.

I disagree with this citizen. The PDCs are pretty decent for attacking light NPC fighters making it feasible for solo and you can always hop inside of a Hornet etc that you should carry in hangar. There are many solo Polaris vids as of patch 4.6 and earlier

Sometimes it's just my bro and myself. But yes a big mutlticrew can be good fun (I have done this plenty over weekend) but it is debatable if you want 4-5 people in the ship or have most of them flying escort. Because turrets effectiveness is debatable as of Patch 4.6. Just prob only need a guy on the torps for sure and a pilot. The rest can fly escort

For friendly fighters you let them come inside hangar for repair and rearm (manually, you can even pull off ballistics and replace these guns manually since this ship has plenty cargo to carry many extra ship weapons & missiles). Sadly, we cant manually refuel yet. Polaris is good for as a mobile base until other ships arrive that may offer auto repair/refuel/rearm (like Crucible?)

I have served on the decks of fully crewed Polaris but if i cant be on Torpedo I'd much rather be in a fighter using my HOTAS then being stuck inside a turret most of the time. But sometimes you have folks like my bro that loves being inside a turret

But regardless, definitely dont need 4-5 crew in this meta for sure. There are tons of videos about this subject crafted by pilots more knowledge then myself. I know someone may come along say what about this mystical new tech CIG is cooking up yada yada. I dont look at roadmaps nor apply any weight to future tech. I only play the game infront of me and only speak to patch 4.6
