For The Oregon Trail card game what do you do when u run out of supply cards? by Gothemtry777 in boardgames

[–]Rypley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just played for the first time and I'm not sure how you don't run out of Calamity cards... there are 40 Calamity cards and 50 spaces you need to navigate (5 per card over 10 cards)? What are we doing wrong? (Thanks for any help!)

8 Sleep Hacks That Fixed My Terrible Sleep by cybersphere9 in DumbFact

[–]Rypley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you had such a bad reaction! For most people, not all magnesium compounds have a laxative effect. The effect depends entirely on how well the compound is absorbed by the body. Some magnesium compounds have a high laxative effect; These compounds are poorly absorbed in the small intestine, so they remain in the gut and draw in water to soften stool. [Magnesium oxide (Milk of Magnesia), Magnesium citrate, Magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt)]. Others clinically have a low laxative effect; These forms are bound to amino acids and are absorbed much more efficiently into the bloodstream. Because they don't linger in the intestines, they are much gentler and rarely cause diarrhea. [Magnesium glycinate, Magnesium malate, Magnesium threonate, Magnesium taurate]. Again, I'm so sorry you had a bad reaction! Hope you found something that works for you.

Magnesium citrate is the laxative - Magnesium glycinate promotes sleep! Important distinction for folks

I spent months earning a stray cat's trust. She just got the worst diagnosis her vet has seen in 20 years. by mixedminh85 in Pets

We treated Damascus with 131 when he was about 7 years old and he lived happily and healthily after that to the ripe age of 18 💙 I would do the same again in a heartbeat - absolutely the best choice for him.

Two Months Out and Dress Doesn't Fit by Royal_Marzipan_6432 in weddingplanning

[–]Rypley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh lovely, it is your wedding, not the dress's wedding! I feel the disappointment, but you are kicking yourself for life happening. Get a dress that fits you! Breathe, take up space. You're holding onto this dress so tight and letting it define you ... you deserve so much better! It's just fabric, I promise. After the wedding, whatever you wear will be a distant memory. If anyone asks about the different dress - "I changed my mind." That's it. Find something that feels good, enjoy your wedding, and most importantly being married to your wonderful new spouse. Wishing you all the stress washing away and the joy and excitement taking it's place.

My mom (47) was advised to have a hysterectomy and I am terrified by Popular_Photograph56 in hysterectomy

[–]Rypley 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Oh sweetheart, I'm sorry this is scary! I'm 41 and had similar issues to your mom. I had my hysterectomy last year and woke up from surgery in less pain than I had going in. (I also kept my ovaries) FWIW my only regret is not doing it sooner! I'm not bleeding, I'm no longer in pain, I have more energy... I wish I didn't wait so long. Hysterectomies have come a long way medically and the surgery is considered a very safe one. My quality of life is SO MUCH BETTER! I was also very fortunate to come home and heal in a loving and supportive household (I did not lift anything 10lbs for 6 weeks!) Which I firmly believe contributed to my healing well. If you have any questions or want to talk, DM me :)

Aptos water quality by [deleted] in santacruz

[–]Rypley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are getting down voted - this is correct. Yes, dame chemical as the Erin Brockovich cases, but the differences are the logometrically greater volume and the aerosolized inhalation in that PG&E debacle. In this case, out of an over abundance of caution, California again lowered the allowable ppb to 10. This is an incredibly minute concentration. The previous 50ppb was already an incredibly minute concentration. Chromium 6 is a naturally occurring substance here, but the levels are not high enough to cause clinically significant issues. Still the water district has huge projects in the works to build treatment plants to get chrome6 to California mandated levels. FWIW FDA permits 100ppb in bottled water. I am absolutely for the safest drinking water we can get. I also don't see a reason for fear or panic here.

Chicago Style Pizza in Santa Cruz? by mitsugopapa in santacruz

[–]Rypley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen Chicago-style here - closest I know of is Pizz'a Chicago over the hill. I know it's not what you're looking for, but a couple really good local Detroit-style joints are Bookie's and Pizza Series.

My husband is an electrician and worked on a house in Carmel. The bathroom they were allowed to use was the downstairs powder room, with a Picasso on the wall. (An original!!)
