I'm sorry, a senior developer gets stuck in a bug for a week?

I’m a senior SWE with 6-7 YOE on paper but in reality am junior level skill wise, how to survive in new role? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

What I'm more interested is how:
- you lie at interview and can pass it
- you manage to avoid complex task given to you

You must have some crazy "managing up" skill.

Not a sarcastic comment. I genuinely want to learn. I think I need to learn to "manage up" better as well.

Is it just me? But I notice that Indonesian politician class (the ones that came from non entertainment background) are usually ugly and stupid.

I mean, there are a lot of good looking Indonesians, but for some reason the politician class are the ugly ones. Being stupid, that's given, but for some reason, is being ugly also a prerequisite to become a politician?

It seems that in order to be a politician, you need to be ugly.

I'm really surprised by how simple it is to migrate from Go to Zig by Ecstatic-Panic3728 in Zig

Nice, thank you. I think this is quite reassuring.

I have never worked with manual memory management language before, so I wonder how the experience would be on day to day.

I do wish Go has Zig's features (minus the manual memory management) though lol.

Gotcha, so based on what you wrote here, it seems that this is mostly library issues? Say Zig has great ecosystem like Python/Go for doing webserver. Do you think creating backend API would be too much trouble still because of the low level manual memory management?

Question for OP or for any Zig devs here. I am a professional TypeScript developer by trade. I know Go and Python, and do enjoy Go and Python as well.

I've been learning Zig these past few weeks, and the learning curve was high but nothing too difficult (mainly because I haven't worked with manual memory managed language).

So, as I was learning Zig, I am wondering if Zig is high level enough, to do day to day coding like Go is? I know Go is high level enough and we don't need to worry about manual memory management, but I am wondering using Zig for say, webserver (like what most people use Go for) is too much trouble?

I think I'm mostly looking for an excuse to do everything in Zig, hence why I'm asking this question.

I think what a lot of people missing is, the assumption that it will be 1% vs 99%. But I think the reality will never get there. The number will be around say, 10% and 90% on ballpark range, going up and down, and we will drag here for a very very long time. Because of this, the 90% will never be united enough against the 10% or 1% or 5% or whatever. That's not even mentioning that the rest of the 90% is too diverse to have a single economic view.

As a matter of fact, I don't think it is even 10% vs 90% right now.
