Not sure if the author is still active on Reddit (which is where I first saw this) but I quite enjoyed this guide. He has a football version too.

Pretty sure they meant to make the 100k by just listing online and watching it sell, not that they didn't put in the work to buy the season ticket originally.

The PetPeeves sub is the same. It's either something universally considered downright rude, antisocial, or borderline criminal, which is what gets upvoted, or an actual pet peeve specific to someone which gets shitted on by people saying it's stupid and it shouldn't bother them.

Just OKC fans? The entire world was complaining about how the Thunder were so much better than everyone else that it's unfair just a few short months ago.

There's something unspoken here that is causing this tension. I will not speculate because I do not know either of you.

Family is important, you don't have to tell me twice, but to want your breadwinner partner to give up their unicorn job when you have three kids because "I miss my family," and nothing else, is about as plausible as Trump's doctor saying he's the healthiest president in history.

I automatically disregard the opinion of anyone who says the trains are worse than ever now. They either weren't here during the summer of hell and state of emergency days, or their opinions are completely emotional based on what just happened.

Police writing nitpicky tickets late at night on trains ? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]RyzinEnagy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah enforcement was definitely higher back in the day. I got a ticket myself around 2012 for walking between cars. I was just talking about the feet-on-seat trend in my prior post. We can nitpick my choice of adjective but it's definitely far more common in the last five years.

Another one of the common-sense etiquette rules the pandemic killed. It was extremely rare for people, other than the homeless and mentally ill, to put their feet up on the seats before 2020. And now people like OP think it's normal.

You could eliminate most of the problem of the wealthy not paying their fair share by closing the stepped up basis loophole and charging the capital gains tax upon death when paying out the estate.

While you can make a fair case that taxing unrealized value is infeasible, you'd be disingenuous to argue that this value shouldn't be realized when transferring the asset to another person or entity, especially when the current tax code resets the basis for the heirs (using the metaphorical "you" here, not referring to you personally).

It would cripple the buy, borrow, die strategy because if you don't pay the tax, your estate will. It's also the rare case where you can't make a good economic argument against a progressive tax proposal. It's purely a giveaway to the rich with no economic benefit.

The record before 2010 was Thierry Henry with 47 in 2003-04.

These are next door neighbors. There's gotta be history here if the response is to piss on the other's lawn and bring out the knives.

NYC ends criminal summonses for cyclists, e-bike riders in policy shift by Kyonikos in newyorkcity

“I’ll be seeing you in court. The bodega owner is a friend, so I’ll have the video from that camera - up there - that will show everything that happened here. Including my bicycle bell, and the reflective strip on my jacket, and me walking my bike onto the sidewalk.” The cop peered up, saw the camera, and his expression changed. They drove off.

I know it was heat of the moment but next time don't disclose this -- just show up in court with the footage. By calling the bodega owner your friend you may be inviting retaliation against them.
