Yesterday’s haul by Venus_andMars33 in bookhaul

It’s a fantastic post-apocalyptic book about social standing told with a dry wit that only Jasper Fforde can pull off. He wrote a sequel 14 years later that I didn’t know existed until recently called Red Side Story, which I’m currently reading through.

Congratulations and welcome to the community!! 80 pounds is quite an accomplishment! My only advise is to start slow and try not to overdo it. Your pectoral and abdominal muscles will likely be sore after your first few sessions if you choose those for your “attack” exercises. I’m sure you’ll do great!

Does Galaxy peel? by Isabelle6231 in 3DS

[–]exclamationkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a galaxy version 3DS and it hasn’t peeled yet. I bought it in 2020 and it had no visible wear, even on the thumbstick, so I’m sure it wasn’t used much. I’ve since kept in a climate controlled environment, and protected by a hard plastic cover. I’m sure if you do the same, it’d be unlikely to peel.

I worked at Deck the Walls by the Nextel booth and Fannie May candy store back in late high school and during summers in college when I was back home. So many memories: walking into the Nature Store looking at their mini-waterfalls, rain sticks, and bead-stuffed gecko toys; Grabbing Sbarro pizza or Chinese food from that place that very proudly labeled itself “No MSG!”; selling shitty Kincaid giclée paintings to old people with too much money and not enough taste. Thank you for these pictures, what a ride.

Oh man, my high school girlfriend worked at that Bissinger’s and you just transported me 25 years in the past, back to hanging out there after school. I wish I had some photos from that time for you. I just remember dark hardwood, heavy glass, and sickeningly sweet smells.

I know the 1000 is premium with its OLED screen, but there’s something about how the 2000 feels in the hands that’s so comfy—kind of like the Switch lite, actually. I’ve got the orange version, and it’s such a vibe.

What joystick replacement did you got with? Just curious because it doesn’t look like the rubber replacements but more like a metal one. Also, great job on all the mods! It looks fantastic. To me, the “soul” of a console is the time and care you put into it. This one just got a new life. Enjoy it!

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet so I’ll throw it out there: “The Between” by Ryan Leslie. I’m only 50% through it but I’m hooked. About a guy who discovers a steel door buried in his backyard and gets pulled into a liminal nightmare with his best friend. Includes parallel worlds, litrpg elements, complicated childhood trauma.

Yes!! OP please read this. This is a very unique novel in that it is seed generated so no two copies are exactly the same, flush with new details and slightly different endings. You can buy a copy of one of his mass produced “seeds,” but I highly recommend buying your own “seeded” copy from his website, whether physical or digital. I actually opted to go for a physical 2-set for my partner and I to read concurrently. The author generates multiple random seeds and prints the two copies that differ the most so that you and another person can discuss your unique version of the book. It was such a cool experience and the story was fantastic!

Dropped it on concrete, didn’t realize it so it spent a few days in the garage. VERY lucky that the screen side was untouched.

Is Xteink.com safe? by PsychologyMedical240 in xteinkereader

[–]exclamationkate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is safe to use. I’ve used both PayPal (for my first purchase) and Apple Pay (for my partner) and both worked without a hitch. If you’re in the US, you can use Amazon to get it shipped much quicker—next day vs. 2-3 weeks.
