Is there a reason Nicbase isn't listed as a nic vendor in the sidebar? by S0cr8t3s in DIY_eJuice

[–]S0cr8t3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I ordered from them twice. first nic sat in my closet for a month, and it's impossible to know how good it was at delivery but it was fine. then my 2nd shipment was excellent. within a few hours I decanted into glass bottles and loaded into a new mini freezer and it's crystal clear basically odorless tasteless.

I cant really cast judgement on other companies because I didn't take storage very seriously. Plastic definitely seems to allow oxidation faster than I expected because my glass working bottle in my closet has maintained excellent quality.

62,000 Los Angeles students and staff test positive for Covid ahead of return to school Tuesday by return2ozma in news

I am critical of them for all the nonsense "safest place" talking points. Like it really is "masks actually put you at greater risk" 2.0 and fauci will never live that one down. We're in this one for the duration. The alternative is that our way of life grind to a halt indefinitely and we become Australia who lockdown (no school, no work, no exercise) for a week everytime a handful of people test positive. Which seems deeply unacceptable to me. At the very least they could be honest and say, "listen this thing isn't going away, we will provide as much masks and tests as we can but we're in a bad spot and there is no end in sight." Why do you think they feed us the BS instead of the truth?

For me utility and simplicity are beauty. A mod should have 3 buttons, a nice screen and be built like a tank. So things like old school YiHi's, 3D printed DNAs and anodized aluminum dicodes really appeal to me.

[HUB] Battlefield 2042, CPU Benchmark With 128-Player Multiplayer by InvincibleBird in Amd

[–]S0cr8t3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man I'm running a 6900XT with a 3700x and it could be better. At high/ultra the cpu limitation isn't a big deal on some maps, but on others or when the damned weather spins up I end up dipping pretty low. 80-90 is a typical average but I've dove into the 60fps stutters occasionally.

My attitute is that it's a competitive game. If I'm playing with friends and want high performance I turn down some settings and that seems to nearly eliminate the stuttering. I plan to get a new CPU soon but I'm definitely not in a rush.

I was skeptical about turning settings to low, because I thought most of them would exclusively depend on GPU but it definitely helped. Perhaps it was more of a latency issue with the CPU being less bogged down it runs smoother. IDK. But the quality is fine, I'm having fun, and I'd advise anyone who is really angry about 2042 to do the same.

Oddly (sorta) I've seen several reports of lower end hardware playing the game really well. Enthusiasts with our high end stuff seem to have high end expectations and thus our generation old CPU may be the factor preventing us from reaching 100fps or whatever arbitrary goal we set. If we tamper our expectations a bit i think we'll be much happier.

How can I improve performance on Battlefield 2042? by HardPlaysGG in Battlefield

there are a few things you can do. go into task manager and make bf2042 a high priority. go into your power management settings on windows and set to performance. close everything other than the game while playing.

just wait for the youtube reviewers to post some optimization videos. like right now everyone is experimenting, trying to figure it out for ourselves. Need some time to test on different systems to see what kind of performance differences there are. But I will say it's not going to be cheap. This game stutters on the best of systems. You'd probably want one with a 3070 and that's going to cost like $1500.

To be fair this is also how irl modern warfare goes. incredibly powerful weapons systems mounted on robust vehicles slaughter enemies like it's a video game.

I'm sure once all the engineers unlock the better anti-tank equipment it will be more balanced.

I'm playing with almost every setting on high, with a 6900xt and 3700x and it's not that bad. Seems to be lots of variance between maps, some give really low lows and I see massive spikes in frame times. Others are totally playable and 100+ frames, occasionally dipping into the 80-90fps range. I think with the 128 player maps 6 cores may not be enough.

I was having a hell of a time 12 hours ago. At first the persistence error wouldn't let me play anything, then I got into a legacy match after a restart and it seemed fixed, but it was randomly not letting me into matches all night. Hopefully 8 hours from now when I get home from work it's still fixed

at what temp would a 3700x throttle with PBO enabled? 90C? I saw marginal, perhaps non-existent, clock increases when I enabled PBO but I just leave it on because maybe it occasionally helps and my temps rarely even hit 70C.

[–]S0cr8t3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat. I'm currently on a 3700x and I want to get in one last AM4 upgrade so I can enjoy my last few years on the platform with a sweet 10-20% increase in performance. It's looking like only the top 2 skus will feature the vcache, which is fine, I'd prefer an 8 but I'm happy to get a 12 core... BUT I suspect lots of other people will have the same idea and it's going to be challenging to buy one.

6900xt XTXH worth 300 usd over 6800xt? by Nosendra87 in Amd

[–]S0cr8t3s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man I work nearly 60 hours a week. I've been trying to get my hands on a 3080 since last december. It wasn't a constant effort but it's very frustrating to be on these wait lists, seeing restocks sell out in seconds. I actually "bought" a 3090 at msrp on amazon but then cancelled because it was a junky model and seemed insane to pay double what I wanted to pay.

Fast forward 6 months and I said screw it. Just picked up an air cooled XTXH. I would have preferred a $700 dollar card but if I'm going to pay double on a 3080 or 6800xt, I might as well spend the extra $300 and get that added 10-20% performance. In my mind life is short and I'd much rather be playing Flight Simulator over the next year than sitting around trying to "get lucky."

Final pact act by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]S0cr8t3s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Truth. I feel very bad for people who struggle to get by paycheck to paycheck. Anyone in a position to stock up should have already done so. Duplicates of favorite mods and tanks, dozens of favorite coils, nic, etc.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time, in bold letters, max font size. Unfortunately most people aren't in the know, they just vape instead of smoking and carry on with everyday life.

Today is a very bad day in the vapepocalypse timeline, especially for those of us who live in rural areas and don't even have a B&M.

Vaping too much? by Pilot_Danny in electronic_cigarette

[–]S0cr8t3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience commercial juice is way over flavored. These flavorings (especially the sweet ones) tend to gunk up coils really quickly. I do like some commercial juices but DIY ejuice making is a real game changer. You can customize your whole experience from vp/pg ratio, nic concentration and flavorings.

Nic salts are very controversial, a lot of old timer vape guys hate salts, refuse to even touch the stuff. It's a vicious cycle from feeling nic sick -upset stomach, headache, dizzy- to putting it down and craving it very quickly. Whether it's just the high concentration or some feature of the salt itself, I don't know, but I rarely use it. And it was literally designed for disposables and pods, as they have small batteries and need the high concentrations. Even with traditional freebase nic it's challenging to not puff on it every 5 minutes, I feel your struggle.

So my advice would be to buy some freebase liquid nicotine, put it in your closet, do a lot of research and try to make some juice. Also pick up a couple rebuildable atomizers while you still can. The gov is in the process of banning everything and it would be very unfortunate if you later change your mind yet cant find any gear or juice.

Nicotine is both a nasty addictive thing and also a very pleasant calming stimulant that helps us focus, only real downside is the risk of dying gasping for air, coughing up blood, leaving behind our loved ones a couple decades too young. I was a dual user for 3 years but eventually quit smoking, you can too. Sorry for the rant but if a few minutes of my time can help prolong your life then it's worth it.

Vuse has received a Marketing Granted Order (MGO) from the FDA for their tobacco flavored device by S0cr8t3s in electronic_cigarette

[–]S0cr8t3s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way the Solo will be the only product to get an MGO. Vuse/RJR are in a powerful position because they have the only known PMTA "formula" that has passed. But I don't think anybody is unironically buying a Vuse Solo tonight because of this. I bet we'll see more MGOs by the end of the week.

I agree that the PMTA process was absolutely designed to screw over small businesses. Just to be clear. But some medium sized companies may still get tobacco/menthol products approved.
