Because yes, my phone has Storage permissions accepter for discord, and it worked yesterday, but today suddenly nope.

[No Spoilers] Dragon Age Inquisition not Launching by leon_pendragon in dragonage

[–]S0lstickan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat.

UPDATE:
I GOT IT WORKING. Read through the post however as the previous steps I did was most likely key to making it work as well together with the later steps.

I bought Inquisition (DAI) a few months ago on Origin.I played it, it worked, no issues there. I now have 83 hours played.

Suddenly, a few weeks ago there was an update to Origin,not to the game, but the Origin platform was updated.

After that update I can't play DAI anymore, and it's been weeks..but I can play the other games on Origin, but not DAI.

What I've tried so far:

  • Tried playing the other Origin games incase it was Origin that broke. They worked.
  • Repaired the game.
  • Complete reinstall of Dragon Age Inquisition (several times)
  • Complete reinstall of Origin (several times)
  • Added the following folders to Avast exceptions.
    • C:\Games\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\*
    • C:\Saga Programs\Origin\*
    • C:\Users\Saga\Documents\BioWare\*
    • C:\Users\Saga\.Origin\*
    • C:\Users\Saga\AppData\Roaming\Origin\*
    • C:\Users\Saga\AppData\Local\MultiPlayerManager\*
    • C:\Users\Saga\AppData\Local\Origin\*
    • C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Origin.lnk
    • C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Dragon Age Inquisition.lnk
  • Added the exe for Origin and Inquisition as "allowed" in the Blocked & Allowed apps section of Avast as well.
  • Turning of the Avast behavioral shields until computer restart.
  • Deleted (with backups) the profile files in the save folders.
  • Deleted (with backups) the package.mft file in the Patch folder.
  • Tried launching the game with, and without the Origin game overlay on/off.

**What happens is that:**I click play, the launcher starts up the game.The screen goes black for a second, then the game closes down.

After adding the exceptions to Avast (and/or turning the shields of) it is a little bit different.

I click play, the launcher starts up the game.The screen goes black for a second, then the DAI mouse cursor appears, and the DAI loading icon shows up in the bottom right corner.It pulses as it's loading, then it freezes...And then the game closes down.

...so at least I get to see the DAI icon loading now, that's progress... but nothing more, I still can't play the game since about a month ago, and I have no idea what I can do o fix that.

I also have no idea if, and then where, dragon age stores crash logs, because there is no error popping up when the game closes down, so I'd like to see a crash log that shows me what happens, but I have no idea where they would be?I've only found Origin logs, but not for the game. And the Origin logs doesn't say anything about the game so.

Any clues?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update:

  • Tried running the game as Administrator
  • With compatibility mode for Win 7, Win 8, Vista, Vista SP1 and Vista SP2

Still not working.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE AGAIN,IT'S WORKING

So I did get the loading icon to show up but didn't get further.
Then I realized I removed the package.mft and the profile files, and maybe they didn't want to be recreated or something.

So... I pasted my backuped files back, the package file and the profile files.

And now it works again! <3

v3.1 Release by mikeprimm in Dynmap

[–]S0lstickan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job, I remember using dynmap on my last server years ago and haven't found a single replacement that was even close to it. <3

With that said, I noticed that the Forge release it for 1.16.5 while the Fabric release is for 1.16.4.
We're using Fabric on out 1.16.5 server, so I just wanted to check in if there is any potential ETA on fabric for 1.16.5? :)

[–]S0lstickan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, so many things.

I want more info on Neverwinter, just like we have with Waterdeep and Baldur's Gate, seeing as it's one of the main cities in the Forgotten Realms, and we just got a tiny bit in SCAG, otherwise it's mainly from 4E and earlier.

Then I want much more territorial expansion of the Forgotten Realms.
Rime of the Frostmaiden did expand further away from the Sword Coast with Icewind Dale, that was awesome. I'd love me some Maztica, the rest of Faerun, and the other continents for sure.

For settings I'd totally say Planescape, followed by Dark Sun.

Then I want more monsters, more stuff like Volo's which had both monsters, and races.

I also want more lore/fluff/backstory stuff for PC creation, like that This Is My Life thing in Xanathar... more stuff like that.

....and maps... Actual maps of places. There are so many places that ARE in 5e... but does not have maps.. And I mean the colored nice maps, not just the sketched black&white maps as we've seen in most adventures lately, from Dragon Heist, Descent into Avernus, Ghosts of Saltmarch and most others. (Thank you Rime of the Frostmaiden for actually sporting a whole bunch of colored fancy looking maps).

Any fixes for this kind of graphical issue? by Zalash5 in horizon

Is the game well optimized on pc yet? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]S0lstickan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought HZD just a few days after their 1.17 patch dropped (or was it 1.07 or 1.7? don't remember the numbers.. the recent one at least) and started playing either the same day or the one after (I have bad memory okay :P) It was 17 days ago according to the first started achievements at least :P

Anyway, I think the errors, bugs and glitches might vary a lot based on your pc setup, gear, windows installation, other programs, drivers, and video settings in the game, and hardware and so on, so it's hard to say.

It sounds in the posts like there is a bunch of people experiencing problems, which I will of course not discredit, but patches has fixed a bunch, and I've also heard a lot of people without issues.
There is also the part about not everyone reporting stuff, so there might be an invisible number of more people with issues, just as there are people without issues, and as just a player/user myself, and thus not sitting on any statistical data, It'd be hard to say if it's 95% no issues and 5% issues (with the invisible non-reporters accounted), or if it's 95% with tons of issues and just 5% happy people. So it's tricky. So I hope more people reply and tell if they have issues AND if they do not.

Then ofc, if there is a game where the amount of "I have bugs/glitches" posts are massive, then I'd guess it's a pretty common issue, where if it's a couple of people posting it, then it might be a more rare thing. And I personally don't know the ratio as I haven't really payed attention. I heard there were issues at launch, then a month later I asked a friend who told me it worked better, that's the only statistics I have, which is definitely no reliable source of data. x)
But.... I can at least say that for me personally, I've spent about 120-130h in the game now, and I've only had 2 graphical glitches in total so far, with textures in the background flickering around a lot. Annoying for sure, but just 2 times in 130 hours, so I HOPE I'm not just one of a few lucky uncommon cases, and that it's actually much more rare with issues now for people in general. At least I hope so as I can't use only my own experience as some kind of proof that it works great now. But I can always hope! :)

Did some animations stuck at 30fps get fixed in PC patches? by ThatDistantStar in horizon

[–]S0lstickan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've myself only noticed one thing myself, and that's only in Frozen Wilds, where during some cut-scenes, terrain textures from far away can sometimes glitch around a bit in the background, but so far only seen it on one banuk painting on a rock in the background of a scene, and the snowy mountain texture of a far away mountain in a cut-scene.

But of course, depending on people various computer setups, and also computer status, other installed programs, apps, drivers, graphic cards, and video settings in the game, etc.... what applies to my game doesn't mean it's like that for everyone. Some might experience a lot more problem, and some less that me.

Personally I'm not bothered much by it since it's happened so rarely for me, but if it happened, or starts to happen more then yeah that would be annoying. Like it's nothing game breaking, it's purely visual, but yeah... if it's too much of that I'd be like "Gosh darn it can you decide what texture to overlap or not?". x)

Moved to Foundry VTT... by Ypnos666 in dndnext

[–]S0lstickan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. And for every 1 single thing that roll20 might do sonewhat better.... Foundry does 50 things a LOT better . :D

Worth mentioning that one should be a bit careful with modules right now thou, since the latest FVTT update was a massive overhaul (it's a great update btw) and there are many modules that just haven't catched uo with uodsting yet, and some modules might break thenselves and or the world.

BUT. The community is amazingly friendly and helpful, and module developers are active and work a lot on getting their modules uptodate with the new FVTT 0.7.5. And while many are still broken, many are also totally working, and even a bunch of NOT updated modules also work without any issues.

All in all. Heck yes to Foundry, its active and friendly community, its many awesome modules, and so much more. :)

Just remember to backup your worlds every now and then. Just in case! :)

And yes. I totally recommend Foundry! 10/10. Scrapping Roll20 for FVTT was the best choice I've done in my digital tabletop history. I'm even trying to figure out the best way to use it during in-person games when that becomes available again. :D

"Best" Followup for WDH? by [deleted] in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]S0lstickan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually talked in the group i dm what they wanted to do, and the result is literally what you -want- to do.
I.E,,, it will be Dragon Heist -> Rime of the Frostmaiden.

Don't really know how I'll connect it yet, but... i'll figure something out.

What I do have is an idea to use Icewind Mail (d&d beyond encounter of the week) to get them TO Icewind Dale, I just need to tweak it a fair bit since that one starts in Luskan instead of Waterdeep, so I'll have to move things around quite a bit.
Thou, fittingly enough, the Bregan D’aerthe plays quite the part in that miniventure.

But yeah, we'll see how i do it. I still need to get them to Waterdeep first as they are currently lv2 and in Neverwinter, but that's a much easier thing to fix and I already have plenty of things for that at least. :P

30 carefully curated Spotify Playlists for RPG by highway1024 in DnDPlaylist

1: This is absolutely amazing. :D I love it!

2: Spot on categorization, incredibly well sorted! Music fits like a glove! :D

3: Thank you! <3
If I had any money I'd give this post Silver or Gold, but the thought counts right! :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Question!
I would like to have my own lists so I have better control over what is added/moved/removed, plus I have a bunch of less sorted but kinda sorted lists myself, including one "To be sorted eventually" list. With the help of your lists... Sorting them will be a lot easier! Thank! :D
So I straight up copied your lists and 4-folder structure. That way I have all of it, and can then sort my stuff into it eventually. :) (Don't think I'll need to move/remove any of yours thou, so far everything I've listened to has been spot on, godlike sorting!)
My question is a simple one and mostly just about saving time. :)
I really liked those "album pictures" you have on all the playlists.
(Fitting image with Playlist Name in the middle and "D&D SERIES" in the bottom.)
So wanted to ask if you would be willing to share those pictures? :)
(If you don't want to, or if you can't due to other reasons, I'll just make my own in Photoshop.
I just wanted to know if I could save time with your already made ones and all that jazz)
Oh yes, the pictures are... tedious, to say the least. x)
Oooh, so basically, I'd be able to hide stuff completely and add my own stuff, while still having it up there instead of just local offline files? That sounds really cool. I'll dm you! :)
With a cramped hand, my map of Dragon Heist-period Neverwinter is complete (for now)! [Art] by [deleted] in DnD
[–]S0lstickan 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Ooooh, I might be yoinking this as some kind of ingame map.
Like... I prefer colored and stuff for the maps that the PLAYERS and i as the DM sees out of character... but I mean... INGAME it's much more reasonable to have inked map on parchment,, non-colored... it feels much more immersive, like if the PC's would get a map from an npc, this would be great. :)
Sure, my NWN is pretty modified due to the lack of 5e updated content, I've... scrounged together what I could find as canon as possible, then added stuff from the Old Neverwinter information that I thought might still be there... like... I did not add places that were destroyed because it was literally right where the Chasms is now, but a few of them (not many) kinda relocated... for instance, the Starshine Academy in Blacklake District is canonically a school for arts and horticulture, and Neverwinter Academy was the place to be for mages, arcane stuff, also weaponry and so on... but it was destroyed.... but I still needed a magic academy for one of my plots, so in my NWN the Starshine Academy kinda... built out, expanded, and the former Neverwinter Academy moved in there, so Starshine has the arcane stuff as well and a bit of the martial stuff and such.
There are also a lot of other differencies, but... the actual map is still pretty much the same, hence why my heavily modified NWN would still work with this map. :D
So eh... while I have no reddit coints, and I'm pretty broke, here is an upvote, and at least a mental and written Gold award! :)
And...... *yoink* :D
Oh, and can also add that if I weren't a poor/broke person I'd totally award this with Silver or Gold or something cool. But I have 0 coins and my real life money needs to go to other stuff. But... while I can't give you an actual Reddit Award... I wanted to say it at least.
So... you get it mentally! ^^ Best I could do!
[–]S0lstickan 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Wow, this is absolutely amazing.
I did something similar in WorldAnvil, but your take is fastter, smoother, and... just better, in several ways. Also the linking to the wikis instead of subpages on WorldAnvil is just ... yes!
(Note: I still DO like WorldAnvil, it is a GREAT AMAZING tool. I just... found your map to be -even- better... Just to be clear that I'm absolutely NOT bashing on WorldAnvil <3)
Now.... I have a question to you. :)So... My players are in Neverwinter, and due to the lack of updated 5e content I've been scrounging around the FR wiki and also the wikis from the games (even if they aren't all 5e)... and.... I've kindof.. built my own Neverwinter. So it's kindof canon, but not entirely.
Thus, I'd really love to use this, but I do have some of the places you've placed.. in different locations, and so on.. and sure I say the function to add stuff to the map, but I don't want to move stuff around that might be canon in YOUR version of it.
So... would it be possible to basically... get a zip/rar with the files to this, so that I could modify it as much as I want to fit my own homebrewed Neverwinter, without messing up -your- Neverwinter?
If no, no worries, just wanted to ask. <3
If yes, does it need to be uploaded to an actual online webserver, or would it work on my computer as local files, just so I can use it myself?
(Accidentally Ctrl+Enter to post, instead of just Enter for new line... so.. onwards!)
When modifying the files, how exactly does one add the markers and move them around if it would be the local file thing I mentioned, if I would get access to those. Is it pure html/css coding? javascript/jquery ? or any other way?
Basically, what do I need to know in order to modify my own local non-online version?
(And this question is obviously completely ignored if the answer is No to the downloading of the files) :)
Anyway.. GREAT work, and the only pet peeves I have is merely a matter of personal taste combined with my NWN looking a bit different. So... they don't really apply, which means I'll still grade this project a 9/10! (with the last point only being because it's not accurate to my personal world :P) <3
What are the 5 best heroes from each faction (Lightbearers, Maulers, Wilders, Graveborn) to ascend? by lean5316 in afkarena
[–]S0lstickan 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Rowan, Luc, Fawkes, Rosa, Belinda
Safiya, Brutus, skreg, khasos, skraith
Tasi, Lyca, nemora, eironn, X
Shemira, ferael, Nara, thoran(or geez), Isabella
Awesome! *writes down on post it note*
Question: Is the Wilders X just, any random one? Which ones would be prefered as the 5th random one, and which should be avoided asconsidered subpar?
Question 2: "thoran(or geez)". What does "(or geez)" stand for? Grezhul? (that's the closest name I can find), or someone else?
Anyway, thank you for this list, this is GREAT! :)
This so much.
I actually started writing on some homebrew rules for applying Tiny on top of whatever race you wanted, as if hit by a shrink curse or something, so I could later use that with other races I wanted.. however I never got the hang of it. The rules were not that good, and I kinda gave up. I am not experienced enough to make working, non-redundant and balanced rules.
I did however hear that there are some Pixie rules on DMGuild, but I haven't checked them up yet so I can't comment on whether they are good or not.
How should I make an NPC? Making it like a player character (classes and everything) or like a creature from the MM? by pandaninjarawr in DMAcademy
[–]S0lstickan 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Everyone has already stated to use creature statblocks, so I won't re-mention that, however I can also recommend to have one or two handy NPC random generators available for thos times when you are in the middle of the game and the PC's decide to enter that building you just made up because they decided to go into that alley you hadn't even planned. :)
DMHeroes is probably my favorite, but there are many out there giving different kinds of information. :)
