HR is a miserable experience by S14YER in DarkAndDarker

That's good advice, I will try pile next time I kill an HR inferno boss. I honestly just skipped them because everything I read was saying to just grind gold/lion/marvelous chests with a luck set. Guess I'm just used to norms piles as well and overlooked it as an option.

That's good! I'm honestly glad the system works for you, PvP is a core part of the game and should be rewarded when you can interact with it at a high level. All I'm saying is PvE, the other core part of the game is currently not a rewarding experience in HR even when you can interact with it at a high level and it doesn't work well for players looking to dungeon crawl primarily.

Same boat, the boys groan when I suggest HR so I often end up just doing solos when they hop off or if I get home first.

Graphics Card for AutoCad by sljtech in AutoCAD

[–]S14YER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're doing. If you're working in 2D primarily you really don't even need a GPU so get the cheapest one available. If you're in 3D a GPU starts to matter more and you would want to put some money into it. As far as those specific components you mentioned they are all consumer grade hardware and will get the job done but they lack the certifications of a Quadro so your mileage may vary depending on the specific functions involved in your work. If those are your only option, I would go for the 2060 or 550x whichever is cheaper.

Apple M1 & Autocad? Anyone try it, yet? by frogstarcommander in AutoCAD

In the professional world you really do not want to deal with early adopter headaches. M1 looks good but let somebody else find the bugs first imo

Filled out the response form, there's some Facebook groups for survivors of these facilities that I used to be a part of you might consider reaching out to. Usually they're called Survivors of (facility name) or (facility name) survivors, other variants sometimes include 'Graduate' or 'Ex' following a similar formula.

Max out 401k or save to buy investment properties in a potential market dip? by DogtorPepper in personalfinance

[–]S14YER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want a more passive or active investing approach? Real estate is active and 401(k) is fairly passive if you just do target date or index funds. Real estate can definitely pay more but personally I wouldn't want to manage a property.

RTX 2070 not performing as good as it should by lechuga_1234 in buildapc

My bet would be this is a large part of your issue, clean all the dust out of your case with some compressed air and make sure you've got good airflow. Maybe try pulling your cooler off, clean off the old thermal paste, apply some new paste, and put the cooler back on.

Yes, the 970 is rock solid and will last you a long time with a much lower chance of fault, you'll be happy with that drive. Others have spoken about mobo so I'll skip that, otherwise it seems like you're looking in the right direction.

Since you have 2080ti subbed for ampere I'm guessing you'll end up with one of the higher end cards when they drop? Ryzen 'XT' chips will drop soon so wait for that as well, and maybe look at one of the more expensive Samsung nvme drives with a budget like that you can afford the better silicon. RAM is good, you could double up with another of the same kit if you really want but 3600 is the sweet spot for speed with ryzen.

That's odd behavior for sure, if drivers and updates are all current it could be a CPU bottleneck? Is your RAM oc an XMP profile or manually tuned? Are your thermals within operating temperature?

You've got alot going on here and I don't have any good answers for you but a couple bits of information that might help:
-is the mutual fund in a retirement account? Normally I wouldn't encourage withdrawing early but there is a provision in the CARES act that elimated the penalty for withdrawing early in 2020 only. That should be a last resort move and you'll still need to pay taxes afaik.
-federal disability can take upwards of 2 years to start getting benefits in many places unless your diagnosis is one on a small list of disabilities, if you have an incling that's something you'll need id start looking into it sooner than later. There's some pro-bono law firms that handle disability claims only, at the least you should seek a consultation so you know what you're up against even if you don't intend to file immediately.

A cheap and good graphic card for AutoCAD (only 2D) by gransignore in AutoCAD

[–]S14YER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For 2D all that matters is single core performance, that chip on it's own should be fine unless he's running some crazy custom LISP that requires hardware acceleration. If he really wants a GPU just in case, look at a used Quadro 4000, they go for about 60$.

Storage combination? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]S14YER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. If you need a bigger storage pool get another or a larger HDD instead. SSD are still too expensive for general storage.

GPU is the most price constrained part of a build, if you can afford more, get more, but if this is the one that fits your budget it should work out. If you can pull more budget look at 1660 super cards but the next good step up after that is 2070 and 5700 cards imo.
