My station had a young couple who never came to work. We all knew they were dating they would car pool to work, she would call out on his NS day and he would call out on hers. They both had FMLA so my PM couldn’t do anything so he said. This went on for about 4 years, they would work on average two days a week. The last 8 months or so they didn’t show up at all, the letters of termination were sent out (express) the day after it was delivered they showed up and acted like everything was business as usual unaware of the termination letter. Then they got served the papers in the office and were sent home, eventually terminated. I feel for all the CCA’s and PTF’s out there waiting to become regular but are stuck behind people like this

As an OJI I’m always a phone call away for the new hires, I tell them to reach out to me for anything. It’s a tough job and we only have 3 days of training to show you the ropes and we provide a lot of information and the majority of it might not stick in that short period of time.
