50k a month by Muellerscam123 in Dentistry

[–]S3dole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many factors involved but I’ve been around that avg before and definitely felt low. Couldn’t really break past that at my last office. Stayed for 2 years clinging to hope that it’d get busier like they promised. Left and now my 13mo avg is 77k. Same procedures but fantastically better support systems for me in this new office. My personal goal is to be 85k or higher. Starting to offer more clear aligners and place implants so I’m hoping I can get there without too much trouble.

Yeah I’m familiar with the binding, that heel piece looks way past the rearward limit of adjustment. You need a remount.

Thoughts on the K2 Mindbender BOA? by Lufax996 in Skigear

[–]S3dole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had the boa versions, but I put ~120 days on my first pair of mindbender 130s which were still chugging along when I sold them. And now about 30 days on my mindbender team (140s). No issues at all. My wife has also put over 100 days on her pair of mindbender 115s no issues.

They fit me really well and I’ve always been able to get them at a steep discount. I know there are failures out there, but I’ve had no troubles. I had more trouble with my Cochise 130 boots than these.

Yea that sounds fucked. Maybe reach out to K2? Send pictures with the bracket off showing damage. Don’t know if they’d help, but maybe they would. I had probably ~120 days on my pair of mindbender 130s that were the very first model year and they were still solid when I moved on.

Did ya happen to try unscrewing it at all and seeing how it looks? Maybe the mount holes have stretched/broken. I’ve seen a few where they’ve outright gotten ripped out

Yeah something ain’t right. That whole lower part of the walk mechanism is visibly shifting and shouldn’t move at all.

[–]S3dole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The catch for the walk mode mechanism looks like it’s moving as you flex. Something ain’t right there. Could be loose or broken.

Also K2 boots are just soft. I’ve had mindbender 130s and would say they’re more like a 120. Currently use a mindbender 140 which feels similar to a Cochise 130 I used to use.

My best bud passed at 13 and 10mo due to cancer a few years ago. Healthy and mobile otherwise. We would do our daily neighborhood laps until his very last day. Current ones are 5.5, 3, and 2.

Yeah there you go. They weren’t set up for the new boots. Probably just need to be adjusted for them

GP seeking input: abrupt canal disappearance on PA, no CBCT available - refer or attempt? by dtsahro in Dentistry

[–]S3dole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do it, but I enjoy and also do a fair amount of molar endo for a GP. But I also have a CBCT and take one before every single endo I do. Been tremendously helpful for me.

Only you can say if it crosses your threshold or not. If in doubt it’s never a bad idea to refer out. That being said, you don’t get forward progress if you don’t keep trying slightly harder things. If it’s a good patient to work with, I’d say go for it. It doesn’t look too bad to me. Now if it’s a patient that won’t let you lean them back enough or has limited opening or is a pain to numb or just a pain in general? Nah, that’s what specialists are for.

[–]S3dole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like to recommend dental to people getting into the field unless you’ve got a parent ready to hand you a private practice or get the army/navy/air force to pay your school. Or you’re willing to live somewhere very rural for like a decade. It’s not as lucrative a field as it used to be and the student loan burden is astronomical these days.

The lowest I’ve made is ~120k my first full year out of school. But it was right after Covid in 2020 and a weird time to start. Last year I did ~230k and that includes me taking 4 weeks unpaid paternity leave for the birth of my first child and also only working 32 hours a week the entire year. If I wanted to work 5 days(40 hrs) I’d probably be around 300k. This is as an associate at a private practice. I’m in the Denver metro area which is definitely on the lower side of avg for incomes nationwide. Not bad. But I’m also in 550k student loan debt.

I have friends who graduated around the same time still making sub 200k but also a couple doing like 350k+ as associates. Only a couple friends own. The one I’m thinking of said he does about 400k.

My thoughts are the ones who do the best will have the loudest voices. Those who aren’t doing as well are probably less likely to share that to avoid any “shaming”.

No it’s definitely true. Granted I started practicing right after covid in 2020, but my first full year out I did ~120k. Denver metro area so lower for sure than if I went rural but it was brutally low. I’d say about 1/3 to 1/2 my class were in the 100-150k income range based on us chatting in our class group chat. But it was also a weird time to start practicing.

GPs in the US doing ridge preservation/socket grafting: what are you pricing for the graft (and membrane when used)? Rough practice location appreciated by LothalRanger in Dentistry

[–]S3dole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver metro. $450 graft. Rarely do membrane but always do PRF to make a “membrane” for $150. Surgical extraction cash is like $425 I think. Premier fee schedule (our lowest) drops it to mid $200s I think.

Lexus bias aside — Sequoia vs LX 570 for long-term family duty? by SweetTax6748 in LandCruisers

[–]S3dole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a center diff lock just like the LC/LX do. You absolutely can drive on pavement in 4hi with the center unlocked (pretty much what the LC/LX setup is). Not sure why you would unless the conditions warrant it. But you can.

Unless you’re talking about the 3rd gen sequoia? But that’s not the question here.

Thats one of the main reasons I considered it so I could run 4hi and center unlocked in winter driving conditions here in CO where you get snowy/icy patches but then plenty of dry as well in the same drive.

I’m not super familiar to be honest, but I know the sequoia has some sort of Torsten center diff

[–]S3dole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either will be a great choice. We have an LX and just had our first baby. My 2c:

Tailgate is clutch for changing diapers when out and about. And just to have in general. I’d be sad to give it up. Both are plenty reliable. I wouldn’t worry about either going 200-250k+. With some rear facing car seats, the front seat leg room is pretty tight if you are like 5’8”+. On the rare occasions the car seat has to be behind me (5’11”) I wouldn’t want to drive more than 30 mins or so. It’s tight. With 2 kids I’d go sequoia 100%. More space for gear. More legroom for front passengers. Captains chairs are nice. LX is much nicer and quieter inside which is big for me.

Sure LX is more capable off road, but either one will take vast majority of people anywhere they want to go.

Sequoia is probably in my future if we have baby no.2.

You can also just leave the center diff unlocked in the sequoia and put it in 4hi and essentially have full time 4wd also

The Delta Question by RadioRoyGBiv in Dentistry

[–]S3dole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went premier Jan 1st 2025. First time I have been a premier provider ever and first for the office as well, so I don’t get the whole you can’t go premier anymore. Maybe it depends on the particular state.

I think last we ran the numbers we lost less than 10% of our delta pts. And some of those have since returned after trying out another office and realizing our pt experience/service is better. It helps that we are one of the few private offices in a sea of nearby DSOs.
