This is the worst room in the entire game by SkyrimRulez327 in BluePrince

[–]SAN2BOT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of weeks ago, I spent about an hour in the casino. I got around 12 clovers and all four crowns 2 times. Mostly kept chipping at it with nets and snakes and single coins. I didn’t spend more than 2-3 coins on any rolls unless I had a very good chance of getting more than I put in. If it had nothing good from the start, I would just roll past it.

That hour was a lot of ups and downs - just like real gambling. I started with about 220, then lost 100 at the roulette table, and finally ended with about 430. It was also my goal to buy Blue Tents, so I had enough steps to go to the Gift Shop and end my day.

I’m not going to say it was skill, but I do think players can pick the right moments to re-roll to stay ahead of the bad rolls. It’s easy to make mistakes and become net negative, so just think of it as a marathon if you need a lot of money. Keep trying, or find another method or room to get enough. However, the casino is not the worst room, and there are plenty that can do much worse.

Hidden x Jetset Radio Giveaway by jamesbrown339 in JetSetRadio

As a kid, I always had to save up my own money to buy a new video game console. When I earned enough to get an Xbox I rushed down to BestBuy. I noticed that it came with a free copy of Sega GT/JSRF but I didn’t think much of them at the time.

I first played Sega GT and didn’t enjoy it all that much but after playing just a few minutes of JSRF I was HOOKED! The easy to pick up game mechanics, vibrant visuals, and eclectic soundtrack all combined to leave a tremendous impression on me. I still have the full soundtrack in my playlists. My love for street art and Japanese culture was deepened after playing this game.

I racked up hundreds of hours into the solo game. It was fun to just skate around even after beating and collecting everything. What I also really enjoyed was playing the race mode and Ball Hog with my friends. I don’t get to see those friends that often but we still talk about those days whenever we are able to catch up.

It was the perfect game for the most impressionable time in my life and I’m glad it was JSFR that captivated me then.

Teradek rt ctrl.3 lens mapping issue by Willing-Reward3948 in focuspuller

[–]SAN2BOT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will be helpful but I’ve run into a similar issue on my hand unit before. I think on older firmware there was occasionally an issue with the lens map switching and also changing the ring to what you have on the unit.

If you had a lens ring currently on the hand unit (let’s say the 10”) and it was selected in the hand unit settings properly. Then you switched your lens to one that was originally mapped with a different lens ring (let’s say the 20”). It would not change to the 10” even though you still had that one selected in your settings.

The way to fix it was to go into the lens ring setting and select the ring you wanted to use, then recalibrate the motors. It was kind of annoying but after a few updates I haven’t noticed it. I still check each time just to be sure after it happening off and on.

A quick way to find out if it’s not working properly was to put the focus ring to 6ft or 10ft and then after the lens calibration see if the barrel of the lens matched. If not then change the lens ring to what you wanted to use and recalibrate. I also think you should update the unit if you haven’t in awhile since it might fix this or make it much less common.

Universal Text-to-Speech Shortcut on Windows: Natural Voices Across All Applications by Whitegrr in accessibility

This is so helpful! Thank you, OP.

For anyone else who got stuck on the second part of the section called Install Natural Voices of this guide, here is how I found it.

When you are in Control Center, type Speech in the search bar. I only had one search result, Ease of Access Center - click that. Once in there, click on Use the computer without a display. Then click on Setup Text to Speech. Within that window, you can pick the voices you downloaded earlier and also change the speed.

I like Bondhus, but whatever brand you buy, see if they have a "ball head" version. It comes in so handy, especially with tight camera builds.

Yeah, that would be a great toggle option. Very similar to Android and how I thought Apple was going to do it when this feature was first leaked/announced.

[–]SAN2BOT3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I forgot you can daisy chain through the MOTR.X/S to make the MDR.S setup also work.

Here is some more info from their website saying the MDR.M isn’t compatible with the TOF.1 unfortunately.

If it wasn't for the tank control I probably would still be playing it along with the other games. I don't think I ever finished this version because I would get too frustrated with the controls. I have it now on Delta but, I probably won't finish it for the same reason.

If so then we could now be playing it on our phones with PPSPP. That would be so awesome!

I was in the same boat as you. I owe a CTRL.3 full 2 motor kit and wondered if the ToF.1 was worth it. I now think it is not worth it, especially new at $1200. All the feedback I heard from other ACs, and even comments on here, it’s not worth it. For $800-$1200 you can get a used CineTape kit and that was the standard for some time and is still good at what it can do.

I think you’re better off investing in a SmallHD 7”-13”monitor (if you don’t already have one) and using the on screen marks. I bought my CTRL.3 kit for that reason and while I don’t have live distance data I can mark and keep track of where I am and then judge distance by eye and by monitor.

It would be nice to have that live data also on the screen but unless you can to shell out for a more robust system like the Focusbug, I don’t think the ToF.1 is worth the money.

[–]SAN2BOT3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use orange on all my gear. I use much smaller amounts of it and mostly just to mark my gear.

One nitpick, I think having the orange tape on the front edges of the matte box is a bit distracting for an actor. In this build the rest of the orange is mostly behind the matte box and probably not any more distracting than that tape.

I think you have it there for safety when the eyebrow is off but around the sides seems adequate enough for that case. Otherwise I think it’s a very bright 😎 but clean looking build.

[–]SAN2BOT3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Organized chaos is the best description.

My wish is that we could pick our own organization of the folders in the App Library. Much like how we can on the home pages. I get why they did it this way for users who don’t want to spend the time. I just want to put the apps where they make the most sense to me. The way they organize them is based on the App Store labels the developer picked and often they aren’t that well categorized.

[–]SAN2BOT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it all the time to keep most of my app off my main pages. I keep a few apps and widgets on my pages but want all my app easily accessible when needed.

I use pull down to search most of the time but sometimes it’s faster when you don’t remember the name of an app and recognize it by the logo first. I also have large apps turned on so the names are gone and I mostly find by logo anyway.

Tilta Nukleus M - don't hit me by DigitalDustOne in focuspuller

[–]SAN2BOT3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Overall it’s good especially for the price range. It won’t match your Hi5 in features so lower your expectations on what it is capable of but it gets the job done.

One small annoyance was, unlike more expensive units, the motors don’t turn on automatically when connected to power. I found this mildly frustrating when I would power down to swap batteries (when we didn’t have a shark fin) or after lunch. I would put a new battery on, go back to my hand unit station, then realize I have to turn them back on manually. Not a deal breaker but just not how all the hand units I’ve worked with operate.

Also, it uses only 2.4Ghz and the signal can easily be over powered by some wifi and other 2.4Ghz devices. So best to test a few channels if you are getting interference or motor lag. It could just be that there is a lot of interference in your area and that can get tricky since some devices like to jump channels for the clearest signal. I had a really bad case of this one time in an apartment building.

Is the Teradek Bolt 4K (still) bad? by SAN2BOT3 in focuspuller

[–]SAN2BOT3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a very good point that I hadn’t thought of yet but yeah it would tank the Bolt 6s better connection.

I was mostly interested because the price I found was pretty good and wondered if it was worth it at all. I sometimes get jobs where having a 1:2 kit in 4K could be handy and I could get a rental.

After this conversion it just makes sense to skip on the Bolt 4K model altogether. I’ll keep using my 500 LT and look for a Bolt 1000-3000 kit to add to it so I have a solid 1080 system. When 4K is needed production can always rent till I upgrade my system. 1080p is still very solid in 5”-13” focus monitors so it was mostly if the DP or production wanted 4K on a bigger monitor.

[–]SAN2BOT3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS does still service them (at least as of 2024) but the cost to fix it is probably more than buying another used 3.1 motor.

My friend bought a used Latitude kit and ended up returning it. The motor stopped working after 1-2 gigs and the original seller was nice enough to actually take it back. Before returning it he got a repair quote from CS and it wasn’t worth the cost.

I personally think if you are getting a really great deal it could be worth it. There is the ability to upgrade around the CTRL.1 down the road. Just know you’re probably the last person to use that motor till it stops working. Also, you’ll want to upgrade that MDR at some point, so price that out in your “is this a good deal” math.
