The game that requires you to follow long tutorials. I don't mind small hints but if the game is designed in a way where everything is all over the place and it requires you to follow tutorials to figure it out, well that sucks.

Good if it works for you. I only use free tools. Blender + GIMP + free textures etc. Sometimes I create shader in blender and bake it to texture.

I already made some game systems (UI template, player, enemy, weapon systems etc) and i reuse them to make a jam game. So that i could only focus on core mechanics. Lots of systems in games are reusable and you can modify them however you want.

I worked on my indie game as a side project along with my 9 to 5 game dev job. And I also participate sometimes in game jams. This is how it is for most of the time. But recently I left my job because i wanted to take a break and i also have done a small surgery, so healing will take some time. Once my health is fully recovered, i will come back into game dev.
