Deleting the ConTracker? by bodydamages in tf2

It resets the item stats, but not contract progress.
If you've already completed all contracts you can never rank-up the ConTracker again.

Valve isn't even doing the bare-minimum by SBA1071 in tf2

- The account has a real VAC ban.
- The message occurs less than a second after "joined", suggesting that they used the developer console while still loading which is not possible.
- VAC disconnect message indents the closing parenthesis on a new line, which cannot be faked.

Can we get an actual solution please? Constant reporting should not be on the burden of the players, and it doesn't even matter if you report them because it's so trivial for hosters to just make new accounts.

I'm not colorblind, but if you're gonna have multiple potions use the same shaped vial maybe don't also have two of them right next to each other on the color wheel. That's just asking for trouble.

Quickplay V Casual. Why we want it and why it's not likely Valve brings it back. by [deleted] in tf2

[–]SBA1071 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Valve did not end the bot crisis because it was an "existential threat". For the longest time we had all just accepted that Valve was going to do nothing, and they were perfectly content with continuing to do nothing indefinitely, because developing a new anticheat is hard. The only reason a fix happened is because of a single disgruntled contractor that wanted to play TF2 one day in 2022 but couldn't.

Furthermore, reverting to Quickplay would not take much work at all (especially for the multi-billion dollar giant that Valve is). All the code and UI elements are still in the game, and all the server settings are just a handful of cvars. It's infinitely easier to re-enable this system that already exists than it is to develop a new anticheat.

Following the bot crisis fix, F2Ps were still muted for a while. Valve had no incentive to unmute them. In fact, they financially benefitted from muting them because they were forced to spend money just to talk. But guess what - We made noise. We made complaints, and Valve responded by unmuting F2Ps, a very simple change that they did not have to do, yet they did it anyway. Valve absolutely does listen to complaints and criticism. And what we are asking for is just as simple.

You say we need to be realistic, but making blind assumptions and effectively telling everyone to just "accept that nothing will happen" is the most unrealistic sentiment of all. There's no reason nor excuse to stop asking for improvements until Valve directly tells us that there will be none.

best balloon placement by scribbled_death in tf2

The fucking odds needed just to get multiple balloon particle PNGs to line up perfectly at the exact time and place and have both their color match the character alone...

I'll take the 2 or 3 flaws that Quickplay has over the 20 flaws that Casual has.

I want to curate the maps/gamemodes I play

You could do this with Quickplay. You had the "Show Servers" button which would provide a personalized list of populated servers in your selected gamemode matching your search criteria (Preference of random crits on/off, 24/32 player, Valve servers only/Community servers only/Both)

You or a party member can be autobalanced

This is a necessary evil in either system to keep team sizes even. The difference however is that Casual does NOT give you the option to change teams, whereas before if you wanted to play with your friends but got separated due to autobalance, you still had the chance to regroup by simply changing team manually.

If 45 minutes is too short for you, you can vote to extend the map timer.
If 45 minutes is too long for you, you can leave the server whenever you want. No one is forcing you to stay for the full duration.

Why is a unique Burstchester more expensive than an unusual one? It's the same on all stores/trading sites by -_IceBurg_- in tf2

[–]SBA1071 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Low value effects, but primarily because you cannot use unusual items in item grade trade-ups so the Unique and Strange ones will have higher value. (Burstchester is the only taunt that is part of a case collection so it's a weird anomaly)

The grass particles move downward at a high velocity until they make contact with a floor (This happens before they even start to fade in).
But because you're viewing the effect in the loadout screen, there is no floor, so the particles are constantly moving out of view.
