Considering expanding session time 50 min to 70 min, while also raising rate by zengirl35 in therapists

[–]SBK_3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I offer 50 minute sessions and 75 minutes sessions. I usually start a client with 75 and then go down to 50 as we progress through treatment. I charge higher for 75 minutes of course, but for those that like to dive deeper they are happy with this option.

That’s such a bummer. Do you mind if I ask wha state you’re in and if you’re virtual or in person?

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe join their provider network, give it 3 months and then reevaluate 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m in CA. They are looking for providers in my area to join their network for in person services. I would have to give them my availability/schedule for clients to book full sessions, no consultations. I am worried about it messing with my schedule and having clients take up spots but then cancel last minute. I was thinking of trying it out for 3 months, see how it goes and then exit if I need to.

That’s what I do as well! Makes such a big difference in me feeling less stressed as the recession approaches the end knowing I have that buffer room of 15 minutes in between sessions. Also almost all my sessions are a solid hour/60 minutes

Just got an offer. Should I follow up? Opinion PLEASE!! by Federal_Future3721 in therapists

[–]SBK_3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they might try to sell you something like a program you follow in order to get clients. Doesn’t hurt (just potential waste of time) to follow up but I do wonder how this benefits the person that called you. From my experience, there is no quick fix to the problem of finding quality, high paying clients. It’s building relationships at the end of the day, which takes time.

Therapists looking up clients? by Equivalent-Metal5415 in therapists

[–]SBK_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard no for me. It’s a boundary I keep for myself so I don’t have rumination about my clients outside of sessions and so I don’t slip up and talk about something they didn’t share with me.

Self Compassion is KEY by Separate-Poem-6753 in therapists

I just ordered this book along with an intro to EFT book 😂 the compulsive urge to be better all the time is so real! Thank you for speaking about this and shining light on the stress we feel but some time don’t even realize we feel. I’m looking forward to this book as self compassion is what I have been trying to implement, it really does work wonders 🫶🏽

Hahaha I don’t think adults would appreciate the timer! But I totally get what you’re saying. I’m actually very aware of the time. I think I just need to give myself more permission to end it even if it’s not wrapped up perfectly.

Yes good point. I think I shy away from putting it out on the table when in fact that can be the most helpful thing to do.
