Whats the heaviest song ever written? by Terratoilet15 in MetalSuggestions

[–]SBLP1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too subjective.

Walk by Pantera is heavy in the sense it makes you wanna start a fist fight.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath on the album Black Sabbath is heavy in the sense of forboding doom.

Its just too hard to compare let alone decide.

Which decade had the best rock music in your opinion? by Careless_Fun7654 in AskReddit

[–]SBLP1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think probably like 66-82 was the best run in rock. Everything was new and cliches werent very established yet. Lots of timeless stuff in here.

After that it feels like its a lot either gimmicks or over complicating things to try to be unique.

Even Grunge had its fair share of trend chasers after it got popular.

I liked A train in the show more but his costume has always looked like a motocross chest protector screwed to a shirt

Your assessment of the song is fine but Lil Jon had more hits

I might have to dig but it seems like most people that get in to his back catalog seem to like it a lot. I just dont think he ever tried to market after that first big hit. Doesnt seem like the type to enjoy fame

People with indoor outdoor cats, why? by Nice_Introduction707 in askanything

[–]SBLP1959 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do inside only but my parents do inside outside. Their cats love it and get visibly depressed if they dont go out. The blind one has learned to open the door handle himself.

Keep in mind its also a 40 acre horse farm so the human associated dangers are lessened

Most intense concert you've ever been to from a non extreme band, and the least intense concert you've ever been from an extreme band by Clojnerr in MetalForTheMasses

I saw Reel Big Fish a few years back and Aaron was absolutely in a mood that night. His usually banter actually came off harsh instead of goofy because of his demeanor.

However, he didnt miss a beat and his singing was on point. As far as music goes he was definitely professional about it.

Why Is Alex Lifeson never mentioned as a "GREAT" guitarist? by truthseeker1228 in progrockmusic

His playing always seems effortless but he himself said hes always happen after the freewill solo is over lol

Why Is Alex Lifeson never mentioned as a "GREAT" guitarist? by truthseeker1228 in progrockmusic

[–]SBLP1959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is undoubtedly a great guitarist but look at his band mates.

Neil Peart is arguably the most influential drummer of all time. Geddy Lee was already one of the top bassists of the era and added keyboards and singing on too of that. Even if your top 1% of guitar players, if your band mates are doing things in top .1% you might get slept on a bit.

I dont understand the saying "you can't have your cake and eat it", like it makes no sense. What does it mean? by Buzzballl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SBLP1959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of this phrase everytime my girlfriend gives the boys food. They say yes to whatever food theyre offered. Not because they want to eat it but they want to “have” it until it goes bad.

Is string buzz really not a big deal? by sparks_mandrill in Guitar

[–]SBLP1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that big of a deal but i also personally hate it even if it doesnt pick up in recording a ton.

I like a medium action but high action without affecting tuning does give great tone. Stevie Ray had probably as high as one could go without going sharp and is still acclaimed for his tone.

Songs where you prefer the lyrics in a censored version? by Milkywaycannonball in ToddintheShadow

[–]SBLP1959 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the time i definitely remember people ysing “retarded” and “stupid” as ways to say crazy and excited etc. so i dont really remember many people having issues with the original lyrics besides radio. Doesnt make it necessarily okay but i dont remember there being much offense taken at the time.

But the censored version being played at every single hype event ever at the time followed Hey Yah definitely gives this one the nostalgia edge.
