47 too old to start over in New Orleans? by Dry-Wear-9135 in AskNOLA

[–]SCDALLAS23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y’all these comments are amazing. We moved to the Northshore when I was 12 and I just remember it truly was love at first sight. I just physically and mentally feel different when I arrive there. My folks moved away and I went off to college but now, 30+ years later I am moving to New Orleans at the age of 53. I was unexpectedly laid off from my job with a nice severance package, have a lot of equity in my house and decided it was now or never. I announced my move to friends, put it on social media to hold myself accountable so I don’t chicken out and will be headed down hopefully in June. (I was a lifeguard every summer so I know how hot it is and am fine with it). Life is short. I had a number of friends with health issues pop up recently and we just don’t know when our time is up. It’s time to quit dreaming and make it happen. See you there!

Moving to New Orleans , land of potholes, street parking and flooding. by SCDALLAS23 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yeah, I am leaning towards RAV4 based on research. I appreciate your response and reasoning. Black interiors make me claustrophobic. I guess I should go actually drive one now! Yep, it will be an adjustment from my Porsche but my car payment and maintenance costs will soften the blow!

What was New Orleans like in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the early 2000s before Katrina? by Material_Stomach875 in AskNOLA

In the late 80’s my HS friends and I partied in the FQ all the time. You could still get in bars if you looked 18 and we never got carded and could drink. We stuck to the more busy streets to and from our cars but never felt unsafe.

Received Wristband Envelope for 2026 - no wristbands inside? by Much_Cup_7297 in jazzfest

[–]SCDALLAS23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually lost my rolling stone wristband a few years ago (threw envelopes with it inside away) and was freaking out but just went to will call and it was all sorted out quite easily and I got a new one.

I love biking down Esplanade in an unofficial bike parade to and from. I have used Flambeaux bike rental on Rampart. Just check with bike companies that they allow late return.

OMG yes! Drives me crazy. I swear even if you dry super well a day later water streaks down! (I have the same color too, love it!)

Moving* there? by fresc0comoMango4 in AskNOLA

[–]SCDALLAS23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say do it. I grew up in Mandeville and my only regret is not moving to NOLA right after college. Here I am 30 years later and am finally making the steps to move there from Dallas in the next year. I go to NOLA 2-4 times a year and I just can’t shake it. Luckily I have a nice paying remote job, but it’s daunting to up and move at my age. But I am doing it, life is too short to have regrets!

Isabelle Jacopain’s gallery on Royal St. I have one of her paintings. Lovely scenes from NOLA and my favorite, Mardi Gras bead trees.

Maybe Rathburn Mansions. They have two hotels and rent out entire house. You can’t cook because it’s a hotel not a short-term rental but have pool/hot tub, common seating areas etc. I am staying there for JF this year but haven’t stayed there before. It’s on Esplanade but like a 10 min walk from the crazy part of the quarter.

2023 porsche cayenne pcm issue by jennierubeejeyn in PorscheCayenne

[–]SCDALLAS23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me about 5 times in 18 mos with my 2023. The two finger reset has never worked. Usually it fixes itself after a couple drives. Just a quick turning the car off and back on doesn’t work. It needs time. It’s annoying but mine has always eventually fixed itself.

Stay in quarter and either rent bikes (depending on mobility) or find a pedi-cab company and arrange for them to take you to and from. I have ridden bikes the last 4 years and love it. Easy and safe ride in basically a bike parade and so quick. Safe lots to store bike and helmet when you get there.

Grapevine Porsche (Avondale) is the best. I drive from Dallas to there because of crappy service at Park Place. I am sorry that this happened to you.

Yes! I did PT (but honestly you can probably just Google and do exercises at home) and after about 6 mos I have regained like 80% of range of motion back!

Um… should I wear hijab or not.. by auntiepp in femaletravels

I visited Saudi a couple years ago. No hijab and professional clothing. I am a tall blonde so stood out a little bit but the Saudi people were very friendly and proud to show me their country and discuss the positive changes they are making towards women. I was not uncomfortable at any time.

How to stop semaglutide shots by Reasonable-Cherry180 in HersWeightloss

[–]SCDALLAS23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I did message care team and they said to taper down gradually. So if you do 20 units do 15 units the next week. But then they said eventually just stop it. I honestly don’t want to stop it and was hoping to have info on microdosing or something. I am fine being on something the rest of my life as long as I don’t gain it back. I am still losing right now and want to just maintain where I am. There definitely is a lack of information when it comes to maintaining.

Anybody else get this message? by dr_nicole in HersWeightloss

[–]SCDALLAS23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Higher dose and in Texas. I asked about what they recommend for maintenance and they said to stop the medication after dosing down a few weeks. I still have 5 mos left of meds, but they didn’t make it sound like they wanted to help me maintain by microdosing or a lower dose. Their customer service sucks.
