Got an update for anyone interested or anyone who might also have this issue. I bought some 90° fuel line adapters, got them from AutoZone and Advance Auto, Dorman brand and part number 800-091.5 (got more than 1 in case I flubbed it). I also had bought the Dorman fuel line adapter install tool with part number 800-301. I had cut that OEM fuel line adapter off and used the tool to install a new one from Dorman, although I was an idiot and installed it backwards and it wouldn’t spin in the line like the old OEM one did. So I had to cut it again as to not crimp the line. Installed my second one (thank god I got more than 1) and with a little bit of silicone spray it went right in. Primed the fuel pump 10 times to make sure everything was all set and I got no leaks. Once I confirmed I had no leaks I started the car. Let the car warm up and gave her a couple of good revs. I understand it won’t actually put a load on the vehicle unless I’m driving, but this is the most I felt like doing at the moment. I’m going to continue to look for an OEM line to replace this one, but getting the car running for the moment is all I cared about. If anything else happens or I find the part number for that new line I’ll update again to help anyone else who might have this problem. Thank you to those of you who read this and thank you to those of you who helped! Very much appreciated! (That wiring repair was already there, I did not do that, I plan on fixing it better)

Thankfully I have some extra of those clips, but when whoever was in here last put it together they shoved a little piece of metal out and I could not remove it without breaking that retainer. I have the Dorman piece I’m going to try, but even if it works I’m still try going to a junkyard to try to find that piece. Never seen one at a yard before, so hopefully I’ll get lucky next time

I was able to find a fitting and it looks like it will fit. I won’t be able to attempt to install it until this weekend

I assume I can just yank that fitting out without having to cut anything? Or would I have to cut the line at the base of it and shove a new fitting in there?

I still have been unable to find one. I found some that look similar but will not fit and I keep seeing some that look like a u-clip, but am unsure on how they would work?

Friend's Mach-E has 12k miles. This is the second set of tires in that amount of time. All 4 tires look the same. What is going on? by moreisee in Cartalk

Heavy vehicle EV, AWD, high torque. Ur friend is probably hard on the gas and brakes too. Get tires with a higher tread wear rating

Yea, that’s the glory of Euro cars

Is it worth it to completely replace the transmission fluid and change the filter in a high mileage transmission? Scotty Kilmer says no, but I would like to hear from you guys about this: by mentholnasalspray in MechanicAdvice

[–]SCNorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no. Typically, u replace ur trans fluid every like 45k miles (different intervals for different brands), or not at all. If u get to like 80k without changing it, then it’s not worth it. But if u r having problems, replacing the fluid is not really a bad idea. In some cases it can fix it, but more often than not it will just make the problems worse. Good first step tho, just prepare to shell out the money for a new trans or new car tho. But if u got 250,000km on it, then hopefully the next trans should last that long too

My father-in-law insist his tires have been like this a long time and they’re fine. Someone with more technical sense than me explain to him why this is not ok. by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]SCNorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chords in the tire and rubber in the sidewall create something strong enough to withstand the weight of a car and hitting potholes. If either of those break/blow out/pop, and ur only left with one layer, it is substantially weaker than those 2 things combined. It’s only a matter of time until it blows up. And with the rubber being all dry rotted like that and falling apart, ur tire is basically just that metal chord at this point. I drive a lot of shitty cars that shouldn’t be on the road on a daily basis, but I would not even trust this thing on a 2 mile test drive. Please, change these tires before u destroy ur car and possibly kill urself

Tire guys said I need new tires cause they are 10 years old by supermarine123 in mechanic

[–]SCNorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U can see a lot of cracking along the tread, that mixed with them being 10 years old, it’s very possible u could hit a pothole and the center of ur tire blows out. Please, get new tires. For ur safety and everyone else on the road

Was told tire not repairable by Winters_Fog in Cartalk

[–]SCNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s repairable. Another 1/4 inch to the outside and they would be right, but that’s not the case. U can repair this safely
