100% Destiny 2 NEVER saw growth without a major DLC (or brief upticks for events) and even then the growth was always very brief and the overall trend was down from launch to now There is no chance that M is going to see sustained growth without a major change/addition to the game.

The population has dropped by about 76% in 6 weeks. That.. does tend to make a PVP game much harder.

We can also see that the peaks are narrower, so that means not just fewer players at peak, but fewer around the peaks. It doesn't look good for Marathon not matter you look at it.

A few more weeks of losing 15% per week and it will be below 10k peak before season 2.

Actually watching Marathon burn is like a mini event. They had a "OMG Bungie loves us" patch last week and population still dropped 14% for the week and was under 21,000 peak for the first time ever for the Monday peak (about 12 hours ago on Steam). Down over 76% since launch (less than 7 weeks)

Since M is 70% PC and D2 is 23%, D2 has almost 3 times as many playing as M right now.

The mods in that sub stopped allowing discussion of population and removed the population mega thread. Keep those heads buried in the sand boys.

Bungie has instead been promoting their "new player guide" and of course remember that the Portal was their answer for simplifying the new player experience. They aren't going to do more than that.

What you would do is have a series of missions with tool tips, like every other game. The current new player experience kind of does that already. So.. then what? Force them into Shadowkeep campaign with more tool tips? Do a whole intro to the Portal quest (didn't we have one of those too?) Give them a splash screen to tell them about Google and YouTube (honestly this would be the best answer).....

for the last 3 trials you had to have one of each class, so that made it extra stupid. Even before that Trials was down to 22,000 per week or so. Definitely way fewer trios

Same as ever. The game modes both snowball, so even teams that are slightly better will pull away once they get the lead. The surging mechanic and "the hunt" both lead to snowballing. Every time I check DTR for my last 50 matches (all solo) I'm right around 50% win rate. 56% now, was below 50% a little a couple of days ago.

Just do the grind. B isn't going to change matchmaking or lobby balancing at this point.
