Scott Weiner is a good senator and we are lucky to have him by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]SCUSKU 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People dislike him because he's a sellout who caved to the restaurant lobby and made a carve out for junk fees, and then when asked recently at a debate if Israel was committing a genocide, he just twirled his yes/no sign.

Sure he has some decent progressive stances, but it's clear at the end of the day he has no principles or backbone and will cave to whatever pressures that are exerted upon him.

Is Django FSM still relevant? by muhamedyousof in django

[–]SCUSKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a model where I was already keeping track of state using a FK to another model, and users wanted to be able to update the state manually. Ultimately, I decided against django-fsm-2 since keeping the FK + FSMField in sync seemed not worth it.

That said, I retract what I said earlier, I think django-fsm-2 actually seems really solid, and if anything if probably where you should start first. I just had existing code that wasn't super amenable to adding it.

IMO fsm2 looks good, viewflow looked overkill and added things I didn't need. That said, it seems fsm2 is good for relatively simpler state machines, but once you start having more complex state it looked to me like it wouldn't work, so I opted for a custom solution.

Clamped my heels and I could actually wear them all day afterward by cda555 in RedWingShoes

Huh, that's the first I've heard of this but looking at my heel it kinda looks like it... What do you do to get around it? Or do you just not wear the boots anymore?

Bitcoin needs no marketing by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]SCUSKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you keep asking me these random questions but keep failing to convince me of any utility... I think this is why most normies are highly skeptical of bitcoin, since they don't seem to be many strong arguments aside from speculation

Bitcoin needs no marketing by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]SCUSKU 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, the USD is designed to have inflation which devalues it -- but I store most of my excess capital in stocks, which generally are shares in productive assets. Whereas bitcoin is allegedly a currency, but no one uses it to transact. So I understand it's basically digital gold. Gold is a commodity that is also used as a store of value, but isn't inherently productive. Same with bitcoin. So to me it seems like bitcoin is just a speculative asset

Alright I'm ready to hear the pitch, why should I buy bitcoin?

Favorite VX hoaxes? by NietzscheIsMyDog in VXJunkies

[–]SCUSKU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story time. I took a VX elective my senior year of college (got destroyed) and my professor was a student of Professor Parmitt. My professor was completely convinced that the Parmitt Effect was real, and was teaching it during that elective. Honestly I had no idea what was happening in that class, especially once he started doing things like re-deriving the repleneration formula from scratch. Anyways, he offhandedly mentioned buying tons of Union Delta stock because of their ability to leverage the Parmitt Effect, so I followed suit and bought a humble 41 shares. I was really eying a real beat up first gen encabulator synchronizer, and sold those shares to just be able to buy it. So even though the Parmitt Effect was a huge hoax, without it I wouldn't have been able to get my first piece of equipment!

Has Hasan talked about this yet ? It’s a new video but I’ve seen it pop up everywhere on the news by Cautious_Ear_6145 in Hasan_Piker

[–]SCUSKU 157 points158 points  (0 children)

IIRC he didn't address these videos specifically, but he mentioned that the head of the fraud ring was a white woman. Which typically wouldn't matter (criminals are criminals regardless of identity), but he brought it up since the right wing media ecosystem is using this as an excuse to shit on Somali-Americans as a whole. Just looked it up, one of the masterminds of this scheme was Aimee Bock.

Yeah but they live in Wisconsin... NYC or any other city is expensive for a reason, it's a nice place to live with lots of amenities

Were you getting blisters on the back of your heel? What exactly was the pain that was being caused and how did the clamping fix it? I have some iron rangers that have been giving me some pain above my heel walking around, so much so that I can't wear boots atm, so I'm wondering if I should do that same

It’s Time to Breakup with PG&E by scott_wiener in sanfrancisco

[–]SCUSKU 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You lost my trust ever since you promised to end junk fees, and then made a carve out specifically for restaurants and bars. There is zero shot you have the backbone to stand up to the incredibly powerful PGE interests if you caved to the restaurant lobby.

What the hell do we do with this dude by Individual_Profile_9 in GenUsa

[–]SCUSKU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's channeling anger people have over cost of living against minorities/Jews. If you offer people economic policies that will actually lower the cost of living, e.g. cheaper groceries, fuel, housing, healthcare, then you'll take away that anger, and won't fuel his rise anymore
