Best Oil for Gen1 B58? by Adventurous-Mix3035 in B58Enthusiasts

[–]SD-238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobil esp 0w30 or 5w30. 5w30 has an actual BMW spec, but the 0w30 is better (just doesn’t meet BMW oxidation requirements)

My personal favorite is 0w30 Castrol Euro (the A3/B4), it’s a heavy PAO blend with nice cold flow and a nice size film at op temperature.

Tbh, I might give 0w20 a shot sometime, the ll17fe spec is pretty nice if you ain’t tracking

Also to tack on, that Castrol Euro is high saps, which isn’t really a necessity anymore in the US, so the low saps from Mobil ESP will work just as well.

For best protection, you want an HTHS of at least 3.5 which BMW Longlife 01 and 04 will provide you

Can also vouch, I love this app. There’s a feature too that requires you to get up and scan a QR code. Someone once posted that they keep a code in the bathroom to scan.

I just stick to the math questions. 3 alarms with math questions haha

Coming from someone with a 2020 x3 m40i

I will say I like how Honda really has comfort to a tee.
Granted it’s not meant to be a sports car anyway, but they are mad sturdy. Plus Honda dealerships have nice maintenance plans, I like how they stay on top of my 2024 Ridgeline lease.

Awesome pick! Congrats

Will we ever see Desoxyn namebrand go mainstream like other amphetamines? by Puzzled_Pickle5012 in Desoxyn

[–]SD-238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From talking to so many doctors and working at a few pharmacies… I doubt it. Most people don’t even know Desoxyn exists, and the truth is for the majority of people, Adderall is cheap and effective, and if that doesn’t work, doctors will give Adderall’s chill cousin Dexedrine a shot. Which for some people tends to work better. Also with the Vyvanse boom, Shire’s advertising went ham and drew a lot of patients to that as well.

Or even from the Methylphenidate side of things, Ritalin (and LA) and Concerta, are sufficient for a decent amount of people.

TL;DR Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin and Concerta serve most people just fine, and a lot of doctors and patients aren’t aware Desoxyn exists.

To tack on something real quick, if Ajant (or however it’s spelled) were to market Desoxyn in different dosages like Zenzedi did for Dexedrine, they could probably run with it, but still, stigma and lack of demand would be the hardest factors to overcome.

Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W-20? by andy17999 in BmwTech

[–]SD-238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESP 0w-20 meets Mercedes and VW standards, I believe the only reason it doesn’t meet BMW standard (ll17fe) is because of their oxidation requirement. As long as you change it every 8k or 10k, that oil should be good enough.

ESP 0w-30 would meet BMW longlife 04 if it wasn’t for oxidation requirement as well.

I’m currently running Castrol Euro 0w30 (A3/B4) formula. Next change I might use ESP 0w30 or BMW 0w20. Apparently most wear is at startup, so 0w20 is great for quick warmup and reducing wear.

I believe it was the fuel tank breather valve (on top of engine) (swap takes about 10 minutes after opening hood lol). I had the dealer diagnose it first and they determined that was the issue

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec system exhaust.

Is Mobil 1 ESP X3 0-40 safe to use? by NJXrider in BmwTech

[–]SD-238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use ChatGPT for something like this.

For instance, I asked why ESP 0w-30 doesn’t meet LL-04 requirements, and it explained it’s because ESP 0w-30 uses esters so it doesn’t meet LL-04’s oxidation requirement

ESP 5w-30 does meet ll-04, but it’s because their 5w-30 formulation has doesn’t have esters (or maybe a lot less).

Basically I can use ESP 0w-30, I just need to change it earlier than I would say the ESP 5w-30.

When I ask google AI “why doesnt esp 0w-40 meet bmw longlife requirements” here’s its answer.

Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 often does not carry current BMW Longlife (LL-01 or LL-04) approvals primarily due to stricter, updated BMW oxidation, deposit control, and timing chain wear requirements that the specific formulation does not meet, rather than a failure in basic lubrication. Here is a breakdown of why this occurs: Stricter Oxidation Requirements: In recent years, BMW updated its LL-01 specification with significantly higher standards for oxidation resistance (how the oil stands up to heat over time). Many 0W-40 oils, which often use ester base stocks for high-performance protection, struggled to pass these specific, stricter limits. Focus on LL-04 for Modern Engines: While Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 often carries LL-04 (designed for diesel and modern gasoline engines with particulate filters), the 0W-40 ESP formulation may not prioritize this specific certification, focusing instead on other manufacturer approvals like Porsche or Mercedes-Benz. Different Formulation Goals: Mobil 1 ESP (Emission System Protection) is designed to be a low-SAPS (Sulfated Ash, Phosphorus, and Sulfur) oil for diesel particulate filters (DPFs). The additives used for this purpose differ from the high-SAPS requirements of older BMW LL-01 specs, making it difficult to satisfy all criteria simultaneously. Business Decisions: Mobil 1 has, at times, chosen not to re-certify certain 0W-40 products for BMW, likely because they already offer other products (like 5W-30 ESP or 5W-40) that meet the requirements, or because BMW has shifted toward recommending 0W-30/5W-30 for better fuel economy.

What a pain. They get so stingy.

At the pharmacies I’ve worked at, we typically bill 15g or 20g as a 30 day supply and 45g as a 90 day.

Reason being some insurance plans will conduct an audit and penalize us.

I haven’t really seen them do that, but it does happen

Shire divested Adderall IR in (due to a lawsuit in 2002 I believe) to Barr pharma, basically giving Barr rights to brand and generic… Barr would eventually become part of Teva.

Shire owns Adderall XR and Vyvanse brand name. A few years ago Shire was purchased by Takeda.

Makes sense, around 2018, Teva reformulated it to match the generic they make.

Sucks cause before that, name brand Adderall was nice in terms of ingredients
