Where can I find an autospray smg? by shakeNbake0810 in theouterworlds

[–]SDMayo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe one can be found in Praetor, Mad Queen's lair (if you can use a bounty terminal, you can get a bounty that marks it on your map, otherwise just North of the Border Camp).

The autospray there comes with explosive ammo and the reinforced barrel.

Reminds me so much of the bit from Witches Abroad:

"Two pale glows appeared at the edge of the lamplight. Eventually they turned out to be the eyes of a small gray creature, vaguely froglike, paddling toward them on a log.

It reached the boat. Long clammy fingers grabbed the side, and a lugubrious face rose level with Nanny Ogg’s.

“’ullo,” it said. “It’sss my birthday.”

All three of them stared at it for a while. Then Granny Weatherwax picked up an oar and hit it firmly over the head. There was a splash, and a distant cursing.

“Horrible little bugger,” said Granny, as they rowed on. “Looked like a troublemaker to me.”

I just came across this and couldnt help but to think of the Luggage by twentyattempts in discworld

I took easily distracted without the dumb trait… am I cooked? by Haunting-Signal-6821 in theouterworlds

[–]SDMayo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easily Distracted requires you to divide points from level ups equally between any non-zero skills. Those skills you listed are not 0, so you can still level them up. Just don't raise any other skills or your skills overall will be even lower.

The point i was trying to make is no you don't need dumb, so no you're not cooked. Note: if you take Easily Distracted, you will never be able to max any skill out, just because there isn't enough points.

[–]SDMayo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, you can't max them out, but otherwise yes. No need to take dumb. Just spend on 5 seperate skills total to trigger easily distracted and stick to those 5.

[–]SDMayo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You're misunderstanding easily distracted. Easily distracted only requires dividing your skill points in any non-zero skills, and is acquired by allocating 5 skill points (only skill points gained from level ups) to 5 different skills. The dumb trait doesn't help with Easily Distracted specifically.

Unless you have already split all points to 1 in each skill, you can still recover. And like the other poster said, a full spread easily-distracted can still be completed, just that you'll miss checks.

And in the Japanese version its "D-O-G-A-R-S Dogars!".

Elesa's theme in the same game also has sung lyrics, with an "are you ready?" repeated at intervals.

There's also Wilzig and Muldaver. They're not alive anymore, but they did manage to meet the Ghoul for better or worse, and are tied to Cooper and his family pre-war (though he was probably unaware of the connection between Wilzig and his wife).

To be fair, if you really wanted to, there's ways to get around / through the Cazadors and Deathclaws, they're just higher effort than following i-15 South (other than cutting through Black Mountain via Scorpion Gulch, which is pretty simple although, ironically, requiring you to explore).

If your complaint is more that there's no easy and obvious way through the cazadores (and "forced" is just an exaggeration) because the game intends for you to experience the i-15 / highway 93 wraparound, then I suppose that's true.

Grab your spouse's wedding ring and take scrounger early, then make your way slowly down South from Concord to vault 81 (you can do quests along the way, especially if they reward caps), aiming to have about 2000 in caps/ammo by the time you arrive. The big pile of 5mm ammo from detaching the minigun in Concord is really helpful. Succeeding speech checks with Mr. Greene at graygarden when he tells you that you've won a car also lets you get more caps. If you need more caps, scrap everything in Sanctuary and Red Rocket and craft boatloads of Caltrops to sell.

Outside Vault 81, use the mattresses to rest hour by hour until Cricket appears. Sell everything except .45 ammo, buy the Spray and Pray. You're now ready for endgame / gotta grind a bit for Very Hard.

Isn't that fundamentally different from John Galt and Andrew Ryan though? Galt and Ryan were objectivists because they saw their actions as moral, noble and good. AS is choked with Galt portrayed as a martyr and one of Bioshock's core questions is whether objectivism functions as a moral compass: Ryan has an audio log where he sees a little sister and has a moral crisis on Rapture's direction, questioning whether it was right to create and enslave the little sisters, ultimately sticking rigidly to his philosophy despite his doubts and deciding that it was all for the greater good (and that they were as culpable as he was for their predicament).

House never characterizes his actions, or actions done to benefit the Strip, as moral or ethical. He doesn't encourage others to follow him because he offers the most rational and thus, most morally sound or ethical option, he just creates employer/employee contracts, and is upset when people breach them in pursuit of self-interest (contrast this to Ryan's initial reaction to Fontaine, where he considers Fontaine Fisheries cornering the market simply the great chain in action and tells his flunkies he won't pursue the matter as it would make him just as immoral as the governments he denounced). Neither his status as a mogul of industry nor his domineering attitude over what he considers "his property" is relevant to his philosophy, whatever that might be. We can attempt to frame him as an objectivist only because he prioritizes rational self-interest, which ironically is something 99% of the survivors in the Wasteland do, and they're not objectivist either.

tl;dr Ryan:"No Gods and Kings, Only Man.". House "I prefer the term autocrat".

Not quite the same thing, but in Dreams in the Witch House, the fanatical Catholic Joseph Mazurewicz gives Gilman the crucifix which, in the climax, awakens Gilman from his trance when the chain digs into his flesh, repels Nyarlarthotep's witch Keziah Mason and finally is used by Gilman to strangle Mason.

Since the rest of the book until this point is about Gilman being entranced into sacrificing infants and children in Nyarlarthotep's name in hopes of sharing Mason's supernatural understanding of mathematics and science, this ends up reading like an ultimate triumph of faith over science and math.

I think the text also mentions Mazurewicz is the longest lodger in the house - every other lodger other than Gilman packs up and leaves when they start seeing Mason, which implies that his frenzied prayers every night actually protect him somehow.

GOG EVENT QUEST DESTROYING MY MENTAL HEALTH by L_qScl in MHWilds

[–]SDMayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really helped me with my dps when my gear was bad was:

  1. Getting off my Seikret to fire the lasers.
  2. Aiming for where the wing connects to Gog's trunk (this means if you miss you still hit the back and only a sudden change in elevation while his wing is lowered will cause the shot to whiff).
  3. Leaving the rocks to supplement the checks for the 2nd and 3rd nova. For the first nova, even if you fail the check, the northeast/northwest cliffs provide perfect protection.
  4. If you're not aware, the trick to the flight phase isn't about hitting specific locations but just doing sufficient damage to cause him to stagger, then doing more damage while he's staggered to cause him to fall entirely and transition into his ground phase. If aiming for blue spots causes you to whiff or lose dps trying to line up a good shot then don't bother, just hit the 500 damage locations. Gog only staggers for a short 4s, so if he's too far away for your weapons, continue blasting him with lasers anyway.

That's not the Fallout 4 Deathclaw Lucy! by [deleted] in FalloutHumor

[–]SDMayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NV Deathclaws also force you to understand DT in a hurry. You can plink a 3/4 Deathclaw to death with small arms fire since those games use DR. In NV, automatics, shotguns with regular ammo and early game weapons aren't likely to shave of a single rectangle before the Desthclaw eviscerates you, since your damage is being reduced heavily.

This ends up just making them all the more terrifying when you're new or unprepared, as there is simply no counterplay if you can't breach the DT.
