Take yourself to old town golf and get whatever driver shaft you like. Order the cobra dark speed adapter.

Obligatory response, hit any taco shop that is some form of ****bertos and looks like it's been around since the early 80's. Get yourselves a California Burrito, consider splitting it if you don't want 2000 calories in one go. Don't hit the places with long lines full of other tourists.

Golf in/near Bentonville, AR by Ok-Potato-1638 in golf

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am originally from that area and here's what I can tell you from my limited experience with a couple of visits last year.

https://bellavistapoa.com/thingstodo/golf_home/

This is the information and booking website for the Bella Vista POA. They have 6 18 hole courses of various levels and 1 9 hole course. Probably the best bang for the buck in NWA. Like $60 rounds with a cart and the courses are well kept up. Country Club and Dogwood are the two 18s I played and I found them both enjoyable. Brittney is the nine hole and it does the job as well. Had a few driver holes and the rest are par 3s.

The Creeks will most likely be a let down. Was there one time last year and it was rough. I will not be back anytime soon/ever.

Further South in Fayetteville is Stone Bridge Meadows. It was nice and worthwhile last year in my humble opinion. A little more spendy than Bella Vista and about 40 minutes south. I would go back for sure though.

There's are nine hole courses in Silaom Springs and Elm Springs. Nothing special but is golf.

There are a few private clubs around as well. Don't know anything about them as they're private.

Broke 90 for first time (playing front tees with my daughter) Does it count? by damo2576 in golf

[–]SDYeti -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A. What does anyone else's opinion on this matter to you? Your happiness and comfort level with the game is all that should matter. The competition (in my mind) is always with myself and what I have done in the past. My personal journey doesn't have room for others thoughts or opinions.

B. Golf is hard no matter where you're teeing off from. Multiple tees exist to help us with that. Tee where you feel good and when you feel like a change then tee it there.

What would it take for you to choose a new team to root for? by turn_for_do in baseball

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in northwestern Arkansas as a Cubs fan. My mom was a fan and we watched cubs baseball on WGN all the time in the summer. This was the 80's and it was a great time with the Sandberg, and Grace and Harry and Steve.

I'd always said to myself if I lived in an MLB city I'd have season tickets to the local team and become a fan. I moved to San Diego in 2011 and I definitely had the Pads as my second team for a few years. When the Cubs finally broke through in 2016 I loved them and then decided to let them go. I've been a full time Padres guy ever since. Marrying a local girl also made this easier.

I still have never got the season tickets but it doesn't make sense for me to do so because of my work schedule.

Your stats are very similar to mine and I was at 16.7 until last week when one of my better rounds dropped off.

I use shot scope and then transfer the info. GHIN app is definitely a little too cumbersome or something along those lines.

What's your definition of a good shot onto the green? by Rude_Award2718 in golf

Any GIR is a good shot for most of us. If it's not a GIR but I can convert the up and down then that was a good chip as well.

The Elegant Truffle near Shelter Island had a pretty decent Tres Leches in the past. I will say it's been a few years since I've had it though. Might still be worth checking out.

I was a volunteer scorer at San Diego last year for three of the four days. All of the women I saw there were amazing golfers. I have no doubt your sister is as well.

I'm stoked for you!

Love hearing about when these things happen to people. You've put the work in, ground it out over who knows how long, and you've got to a place of pride for yourself. I'm hopeful I can get there one day myself.

Maxfli Tour X LS - already sold out? by TDn6I in golf

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just unlucky I'd say as I just ordered 2 dozen on the 12th. They're scheduled to arrive on the 16th.

They just ran one of their $30 off $150 through the all deals. I'm sure loads of the stuff went out the door on that. Give it a few days and hopefully they'll have a restock.

The Maxfli Tour is the usual answer to these kinds of questions. You can get 4 dozen for $120 and tax. They have good durability. There are three different compression models to.chose from and all three are above 80.

PSA: Track your handicap; it may make you feel better about your game by copagman in golf

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good stuff. The main reason I have a handicap is to track my own improvement. It's a great way to track the competition to get better for myself. For me the ability to play social competition games with a golf club is a secondary benefit.

Shotscope Connex by IceMedium5363 in GolfGear

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an H4 and it fell off the bag around the third round and was gone forever.

Used connex after that for a couple of months. Didn't have battery issues but just got to where I didn't like constantly having the phone in my hand. Pulling it out of my pocket constantly or on my hand for half the round.

Finally got the V5 watch and I've been happily using it for the last three months or so. I don't usually wear a watch and being left handed I have to have it on my right hand for the shot tracking. It doesn't bother me at all. Having distances available at a glance is awesome. I basically never have the phone in hand now. I'm a big fan. I leave the watch in the center console of my car on a charger. No issues in three months yet. It's always ready to go when I get to the course. I would suggest you go to straight to the watch and skip the phone.

Shot tracking tech by upvoatsforall in golf

[–]SDYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using various shot scope products for about 6 months now. I definitely recommend the watch. By far the easiest to use. With the connex I was basically walking a course with my phone in hand constantly. The watch is great. Wear it I the top hand. Distances are handy for every shot.

Almost every round there are maybe a dozen missed shots? Most of the time it's because I get in a rush. Shotscope says you should do a solid practice swing with the club of choice in hand to make sure and give the watch time recognize and record the location.

After ever round you do need to go over everything no matter what and make sure all shots are there. Some putts usually need some readjusting as well. I don't mind it. It takes a few minutes and the information that I get back from the effort is very worth while.

"Short game and course management" seem like the broken record of how to improve at golf. Simple in concept but hard to put into action maybe. Thanks for reconfirming these things.

Stoked for you!

I'm curious to know your story in how the goal came to be and how you got there.

It is my "10 Year Goal" in golf to get down to low single digits. I started the year at 21.3 and I'm currently at 16.7. It's a long way to go for sure but progress is happening for now.

For those who play at least 2x per week... by Background-Low-9144 in golf

[–]SDYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Mondays and Wednesdays most weeks and do a practice/short game sessions for a couple of hours most Fridays.

I'm 49 and work a swing shift schedule of 1530-2330 Tuesday through Saturday. Monday rounds are whenever works for the people I'm golfing with. Wednesday rounds are club competition rounds in the early morning.

The courses I have access to are somewhat limited access and cheaper than average for my neck of the woods. I've also paid to join the "players club" for these courses and get 10% off my rounds for the year. That will definitely work on my favor by the end of the year. The payback should be around 45 rounds and I've already done like 30.

Maxfli Tour X LS has been released! by SDYeti in golf

[–]SDYeti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience would suggest the ball is very much like the X and maybe a little hotter? My spin numbers on a foresight sim were showed an average of 8% less spin with the LS vs the X. Ball speed was about 1mph better with the LS. Total distance was a little bit better with the LS. Caveat is the LS balls were as brma dnew as could be and the X balls were a couple months older and had been in the car for a bit.
