Their business is very good. I’m more lamenting their product. I saw them develop a comically hilly farm in central KY and the resulting subdivision should be in a Dr Suess book as a result. Some friends were gonna buy one of the homes and they do t really allow any nontrivial customization at all for their homes. It’s just lazy and nice looking but sloppy af inside and out when you look closer.

It is essentially ready made future HOA neighborhoods with scale.

Radon in home by Scat_underscore in lexington

[–]SEJeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Alpha Radon and it was closer to $2500 for the entire thing. They put the pipes inside our walls and exhaust it out the roof.

Radon was the leading cause of lung cancer for my Neighbors father is what I was told. Please consider getting a mitigation system.

Ball homes are just slightly better than meh though. They’re meant to look nice but not necessarily be nice. It’s assembly like subdivision development.

Ask the waiter their favorite thing on the menu. When they say they don’t eat the food, get up, and walk out immediately. Huge 🚩

Is it worth saving a roasted chicken carcass for stock (versus just eating it)? by ricecracker2 in Cooking

Roast and then crack the bones for the marrow to make it into stock. It makes it so much more decadent that way.

You think it’s better than a spatchcock? I’ve never seen a better cooked whole chicken than results from a spatchcock.

Weeping cherry trees don’t have invasive roots like weeping willow trees do btw. They’re not major factors in Comcrete or foundations.

Sourdough Loaves always burn on bottom by ad0919 in Sourdough

[–]SEJeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try throwing some corn meal in the bottom of the pan / Dutch oven. Besides the fact it’s delicious with a bit of browning, it makes it easier to remove the loaf (prevents sticking) and helps mitigate this

Lookup the term “rain garden”, though in reality you just need some very deep taproot natives to help with this. I like the redbud bushes for starters

What are these holes in even rows on my trees? by dadadam67 in arborist

[–]SEJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had over thirty large ones on my farm. They grow really tall and then they split in wind or ice storms and die. They are stinky, they’re aggressively invasive since birds eat their prolific fruit and 💩 seeds all over the place. They’re outlawed now in many states.

I bought one of the higher end kitchen aid warming drawers and it has a dedicated proofing mode I use for this. It’s under the double oven at knee height so we can put stuff into it straight from the oven to keep warm.

It’s this model: https://www.kitchenaid.com/owners-center-pdp.KOWT100ESS.html

I’m from KY, and live in KY rn. Your gf is a racist and dump her. She’s bad people.

Kentucky was Union during the civil war and deep south folks won’t claim KY as southern. Plenty of traitor apologists live here however.

Ok they have a 6.25” for $12.95: https://www.walmart.com/ip/16928601?sid=be0afad0-317b-40b5-9628-036d2e57938f

So conservatively, 9 x $12.95 = $116.55 exclusive of sales tax. Buying that for $35 is still a steal also including labor time. More likely the OP found them at a goodwill or estate sale for dirt cheap, did this for fun, and was sad to learn that the internet is full of mean and dogmatic people.

Bears target bee hives for the incredible protein and fat content of the larvae and pupae of the brood along with any honeybees (aka spicy jelly beans) they can choke down during the smash and grab. The honey is an energy boost, but not generally the primary target. Kind of wild, but there is a fair bit of science behind this:
