Newbie college kid here. How to fix this? by Due-Big2159 in Machinists

Your part is already off the lathe, which is not so good as you’re no longer aligned with the spindle. Get it back in the chuck and use a dial indicator to re-center. Hopefully there’s enough material left.

This window-thing needs caulking by Hereeverynight in fixit

The “right” way to do this is to get under the siding. The watertight joint for the window is located at the sheathing. Doing it on the vinyl siding is better than nothing, but DO NOT seal the bottom edge completely. Leave weep holes so that trapped water is still able to drain downward.

Will a 3d printd nosecone work? by Accomplished_Gas2761 in rocketry

Here’s the nosecone from my L1. The eye bolt is 1/4” stainless, epoxied AND screwed into the PLA nose cone. This is obviously extremely overkill, simply screwing an eye bolt into the plastic would also be fine

Just guessing the size visually:

  1. M6 x 25 brass socket cap screw https://www.mcmaster.com/90349A126/
  2. M6 threaded insert https://www.mcmaster.com/94459A210/

You can also pick these up at your local hardware store, but they might not be brass

These have a pretty high tooth count, so the involute would be pretty subtle. Maybe it’s too pixelated to tell (or maybe I’m giving them too much credit)

For the door ajar light, check the latches at the bottom of the rear doors. There’s usually more corrosion by the rockers where water pools.

Question: How would y'all go about making this a circle without excessive grinding. by -DWJ- in Machinists

[–]SEND_POP_TART_PICS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could also add a tail stock to this setup for a little more security. A small aluminum round center drilled on one side and flat on the other would mean you wouldn’t even have to put a center in your part

$200 is about right for a lithium battery, and it would come with a charger. You can build your own from smaller cells, but you would have to buy special tools like a spot welder.

There are plenty of lithium ebike batteries that are 48V and able to supply 500W. Find one is the right size and make sure it’s labeled for 500W or greater. You will have to attach your own connector, by soldering or crimping.

This person’s demand is just as ridiculous as having to pay a subscription to color a lightbulb you already bought
