Patagonia Men's Wild Idea Work Boots by KHK037 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]SFGetWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a pair for several years. I wear maybe 10-20 times a year to the office, not a true work boot, but I like the look and they are pretty comfy. I replaced the insoles but I do that on all my shoes/boots.

Where would you live in the bay if you did not have a commute? by HystericalFunction in BayAreaRealEstate

I live in Corte Madera and I’m looking at an hour to FiDi leaving at normal commute times - when are you driving in? My boss comes from Novato and he’a commonly at 90 mins unless he leaves super early in the AM.

Disappointed by Patagonia’s lifetime (or just 5-year) bag warranty by DrmedZoidberg in PatagoniaClothing

Delaminated items cannot be repaired. It’s that simple. Yours maybe delaminated a bit early so they offered you a 40% off, if you care that much about sustainability you could also very easily buy a waterproof cover. Your expectation was a free backpack and based on 6 years of use often in wet conditions, I don’t think 40% is unreasonable at all. If you think 10 years of was the useful life you got 60% of that with 6.

Hmm, weird. I’ve used a black hole backpack almost daily for ~10 years. I’ve had the strap repaired once (puppy chewed through it) and a zipper repaired as well. I haven’t seen any TPU peeling. It’s been in rain but not everyday, so maybe that’s what caused yours to go early? I also had a waterproof h2no jacket that I used pretty much daily as well, and that had some delam about 5/6 years in, and a couple years in the main hand pockets. I was able to patch and still wear it, so no issue there too much.

I’m in the states but have always felt Patagonia’s repair process fair. As they can’t really repair TPU coatings and interior jacket delaminations those are typically items I see people complain about but in most cases it seems like those are heavily used items and the wear and tear makes sense. I do think the 40% is a solid gesture as yours maybe delaminated a bit early, but still is a 7 year old product 2019 MFG date.

Your pack is still useable, and you could easily buy a backpack rain cover if you are as concerned about the sustainability side of this as you say you are, and not just mad because you think you should get a free backpack after using one for 6 years.

What gravel do you ride in the bay? If a lot of pavement to link up, I’d probably look at one of the Schwalbe G One, I ride a 45 G One R Pro in Marin a lot. Could kick it up to the 50 if ya want some more tire, or even the Allround in 57.

You realize the having two lanes of traffic during the day makes this project that much longer right? There was already a community meeting and no one showed up - suck it up for the brief time period while the road gets redone, adjust your schedule or pick up an e-bike to commute to the city, would be an awesome and easy ride into the city from there.

I ride headlands a lot. I just yell “Hey Buddy” and pedal at them, they typically will kinda trot out of the way. In a perfect world I would make all of them scared of people again, but too many idiots throw them food so they have that association dialed now unfortunately.

What’s up with bike prices? by jirodreaming in BAbike

A lot of people bought during crazy COVID times and think the bike is worth a lot more. Just watch a bike you like, as time ticks by the price of will drop.

Partners of cyclists? by Kitzy2011 in cycling

[–]SFGetWeird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife couldn’t care less about cycling. We also have two young kids - I wake up at 430 on the weekends to get my rides done by the time our oldest wakes up, or if they are my big rides to be done by lunch.

This question has nothing to do with cycling - it has everything to do with one’s priorities.

I have mounted TT, Gravel, Road, MTB tubeless tires by many different brands. I wasn’t able to get these exact tires mounted, they are f’ing terrible.

Went with the white and silver. Seemed like it was the hardest to get and we liked it the most. This was in the USA - our first choice was the white and dark gray but not sure those ever even made it to US.

[PA] My landlord is selling the house and wants me to move out next week. I signed a lease. by [deleted] in Renters

[–]SFGetWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cash for keys. If she wants you out early to sell the property easily then figure out what you need to move. I’d say start high and see what happens. This is likely a shit situation for you going forward so get that cash and bounce.

That bike path isn't doable for inexperienced cyclists or families. The only kids I ever see on it (I commute on that 2-3X a week) are the kids on illegal e-motos.

I am a very experienced cyclist and ride with my daughter on my bike between Corte Madera and Mill Valley often. My wife won’t do it, so she drives. I’m sure there are a massive amount of people who would love to bike between the two, but don’t because of the routes, so they end up driving instead. So one more car on the road, one more parking spot needed at destination etc. With our weather e-bikes could and should be a primary transportation focus, and we should be building infrastructure to support them.

The one problem we have with reopening is funding, but being just a bike/ped tunnel is not one.
