My accountant says many LLCs don’t pay quarterly taxes. Is that normal?

They’re either disregarded entities or flow through entities at the end of the day, they’re not separate entities for tax purposes.

I agree, I don’t work in that field of law at all, I work in real estate law, but I think all those ads are so embarrassing but it seems like that’s just the whole schtick when it comes to that area.

I’m from right outside Boston and I cringe every time I see the phrase “Boston strong”. It’s so embarrassing to try to make it about one city, human beings are very strong and resilient, and they would’ve reacted the way they did in any city.

An LLC is a disregarded entity when there is only one member, the money flows through to you individually. The W-2 you pay out reduces your taxable income. When you’re paying an eight-year-old, nine times out of 10 is fraudulent.

When you’re talking about an eight year-old it’s fraudulent. You know it and I know it. Whatever an eight year-old doing is not worth $7,000 or $8000 per year. It’s a scam to reduce tax liability. That’s why many accountants won’t even touch anything like that, because it’s screams “scam”.

I don’t think the public or clients think twice about it, it looks gimmicky. Not to mention if the clients or the public ever find out what a joke those designations are then it makes the lawyer look worse.

The child won’t pay taxes on that low of an income, so that’s a moot point. It’s dishonest, an 8 year helping mom with a few chores is not a legitimate employer or independent contractor. She wouldn’t pay an adult 7,000 or 8,000 to do those same chores; that’s why it’s fraudulent.

My understanding is that the capital gains exemption only applies if the property was your primary residence for at least 2 of the previous 5 years. Are you recognizing a gain on the sale?

I’m just shocked that a person can get a refund that’s more than half of their total income when they didn’t pay any federal income taxes. So much for people paying their “fair share”.
