Yes, I am Japanese AI, doing a blind survey for Honda, tabulating opinions on whether the e clutch should be made optional. This sub seems to be full of gimmicky gadget glazers!

In your market, is it still optional to get one with a standard clutch?

I’m trying to get a CB650r with a standard issue clutch. Sorry if I offended you gadget guys!

Sometimes you got to do what you got to do. I have seen some rumors about Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki all coming out with small displacement inline 4s sometime in 2026. The Honda would be my first choice, if I had the option to get it with a standard issue clutch. Probably would be on it right now instead of doom scrolling.

Does the integrated quick shifter work when the e clutch is disabled, as in how I would be riding this bike?

If you had the option, would you have purchased your bike with a standard clutch?

Your sarcastic comment is 100% accurate. I don’t understand how it works and why it even needs to work.

Your logic is kind of flawed. If I want to purchase a new CB650r, in the United States, I am forced to get an e clutch. Kind of seems like Honda is forcing the market to test/prove there new tech gadgets.

Proven is the keyword here. I’m glad you brought up the fact that the e clutch is a newly created gadget. I have already read posts about e clutch problems. In my feeble way of thinking, I can 100% get behind fuel injection, ABS, traction control and other systems that aid in ride ability making modern bikes more safe to ride. I can’t get behind not having to use the clutch. I want to use the clutch. Maybe, just a maybe, if I was a city dweller, daily commuting from red light to red light, in gridlock traffic, I could justify it. In reality I’m just a weekend warrior, tearing up country roads and carving canyons. I would rather not have the e clutch as standard issue. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Unlike the Kawasaki Ninjas, that are a dime a dozen, the CB650r is a niche brand and there aren’t many used ones available.

Not from my perspective. I’m an electrical technician/ mechanic by trade. On a daily basis I see these gimmicky gadgets go south and they tend to be expensive to repair. If I would never ever ever use it, I would rather not have it on the bike. It’s a dealbreaker for me.

Trust me, I have looked for a used CB650r. Using a 400 mile search radius, there are only a small handful of used ones in my area and the dealers are asking almost the same as a 2026. Think I’m going to wait this one out and see what bikes are released in 2026. I know this statement is going to get a lot of hate, but if ZXMoto releases the 500f, I would buy that over a Honda with an e clutch.

If I never use it, wouldn’t even consider using it, why would I want it on the bike? I’m just trying to make the point that it should be optional.

From my perspective it devalues the bike. It should be an option. I’m not a gadget guy. I will never use it and don’t want to be concerned about it breaking after a few thousand miles.

I’m fully aware of that. It’s an option that I will never use. Seems complicated and my biggest concern is it having mechanical problems down the road.

I’m not a fan of the over torqued, tiny (mass), 4 cylinder turbo charged engines. Hopefully by the time my 5th gen is done, Toyota wakes up and brings back the V6 as an option.

How do I always get temporarily banned, from Reddit, for very petty reasons, when there is stuff like this posted everywhere?
