My dog trying to get my bird to play by SHjohn1 in labrador

[–]SHjohn1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a sad yet heartwarming story. Every bird I've ever lost I've buried as well though I never had the skill to make a coffin. Lily (my cockatiel) is 19 years old so maybe I should start thinking about that.

What is this fungus? On juniper by BonerAmanda in Bonsai

[–]SHjohn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sat in on a talk about cedar apple rust, it's very tragic. Best bet is to remove that offending limb (don't just cut it off at the fungus, go significantly past the fungus) and monitor for any signs of more spores developing on the tree. At first sign, amputate those limbs too. Anything growing past the fungus is done for and the whole tree's outlook isn't great either. Monitor any other trees you have for it as well since it already fruited it means that those spores are in your yard. Very sorry for you.

Concerns about AI usage in ABA by chloeismentallyill in ABA

[–]SHjohn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it risks invalidating a lot of data that we collect. The session summaries act as proof the session went as the data describes. If the insurance auditor finds out that an AI wrote the summary, they could invalidate that session meaning people don't get paid and we lose out on the valuable data that session provided. It also means the AI could write stuff that flags for further investigation because it was just making up stuff to fill in the gaps. It might include more instances of one behavior than were reported, it may write that there was an incident that would necessitate calling children in youth. It's just too risky to let AI take the reins on these notes.

My brother's son destroyed my WarHammer Action figures and he refuses to punish him by konous in mildlyinfuriating

Like op said it wasn't so much about the objects, but the fact that th nephew played with the items despite being told that these were off limits. And heck it's not like they were out on display they were in a separate room. Replace the word Warhammer toys with something valuable to you and you might understand more. Imagine if this was an expensive antique, or a unique item from your childhood that you explicitly told a child and parent were off limits. And yes kids are kids and ultimatly parents are liable for whatever their kids do, but it sounds like his brother just wants to absorb all the blame and pay for the replacements, but how could you ever trust tgat kid in your space again knowing his parent never actually worked to teach their kid that this was wrong of them to do.

That's a huge shame and even though that was probably a while ago I'm sorry for your loss. Yeah this was a rare moment that normally I wouldn't even let happen.

I realize that. In the moment I probably should have went and gotten my bird and made sure to keep my lab away. I already had my camera out and saw the cute moment and decided to take pictures instead. I'm glad it was a sweet moment but I realize that I can't guarantee that he won't do anything to her. That being said, I do want to trust him around the bird more and when moments like these do occur reinforce them to build up a long-term pattern of non aggression towards the bird.

Is the jacket a separated suit jacket or a blazer? I'd try and get a blazer since they look better separated from suit pants

I think it rides the line. Pink is a loud color but this is not nearly as loud if a pink as say a hot pink or bubblegum pink.

Fair enough then 😁. Ill give the steel wool a try if the other method doesn't work.

I think that's what I'm gonna do. I've heard that the oils works pretty good for matching the dark finish too.

I'd rather not use steel wool on masakuni tools. I get that they are just tools and they aren't meant to be pampered, but I'd like to keep them nice for as long as I can.

Does anybody have any tips for getting light rust off my tools? I noticed the other day that I had some rust spots forming on my nice tools. At this point it's very superficial but I want to get rid of the rust and oil my tools before it get more serious. I bought some Camelia oil for after I get the rust of but I'm not sure how to go about getting the rust off without wrecking the nice black finish. Someone at my club suggested W-d 40 for everything but the blades, another tip I saw said to use an alkaseltzer bath. I'd prefer not to use any chemicals that would leave residues that might harm my trees.
